Was 1999 the last good year for kinos?
>>215365215That would be 2003 with The Room and The Cat in the Hat.
>>215365215It was peak culture. Cold War was won, we had lots of money, white culture and shame was still powerful, internet existed allowing the quick exchange of ideas but women weren’t there, social media hadn’t mind raped vast swaths of people, originality was still valued and the third world handle started to spread its tendrils and purchasing power/labor exploitation to much. Basically it was the last hurrah before the drain circling and earlier fuck ups finally caught up with us. Good news is that gen z are all crazy radicalized and the pendulum is swinging back hard so prepare for some real fun “fixing” on the horizon. It’s always darkest before the dawn and worse case scenario we have a big last stand to look forward too. Media will naturally follow suit.

>>215365392Should have guessed I was arguing with a woman.
>1999 was the best because i was 12 years old back thenKek
>>215365464Literally all this comes down to. Need to ban millennials from the internet. Absolute pests.
>>215365215kino can not exist post 911. Only films that began production prior to 911 can be considered kino. LOTR started in 1997, so its covered. But when you genuinely look at filmmaking post 911, politics is inescable and intelligence agencies, call me schizophrenic with your head in the sand, explicitly approved major film productions. Just as they explicity approved and removed a curated list of rock and roll and hip hop, that continues to this day. 1999 is in fact, the last year of theatrical release kinos, where throughout the year, kino was available to see in a theater. Overall movies have never recovered from the advent of home television if we are being genuine, avatar and endgame havent even encroached Gone with the wind
>>215365464>>215365500Compare 1999 with 2025 and tell me if I'm not right

for what its worth this is another piece of circumstantial evidence that the writers strike in 2008 is the leading cause if not the only cause for the state of affairs. Think about it, most corporations dont change, probably had DEI or equivalent behind the scenes forever, also had men pretending to be women, all of it. Literally nothing different now as then but one primary thing, well two but the other is schizo. The writers strike of 2008 and the repeal of Smith-Mundt
>>215366615this is depressing
>>215366548movies that /tv/ pretends are bad and reddit
