It’s time to admit that this was boring, overrated slop with about 4 memorable episodes over the entire 6 seasonsYou thought it would be great because you loved the character in breaking bad. You continued to watch because of sunk cost fallacy and because you wanted to see what happened to Saul after the events of breaking bad (which is because of how good the original show was, nothing to do with the spin-off prequel slop) Ultimately you were severely underwhelmed and would rather shit in your hands and clap than re-watch the whole thing again
>>215368776Waatched the first season and s2, got bored and forgot about it. Saw it was the finale on netflix and watched last few episodes. Felt like I'd missed nothing except that they'd recycled the cartel shit from BB
The ending fucking sucked, I know that much. A cut down version trimming like 1.5 seasons would make it a lot better, and form a new ending somehow.
Seasons 1 to 3 are the last TV kino in history. The ending wasn't good, but it was still better than the one for BrBa.Jimmy is a better protagonist than Walter and Lalo is a better antagonist than Gus.
And it still mogged breaking bad
>>215368932Jimmy in BCS was just a rehash of Walter White, down to copying him having alter egos and a tall blonde wife. He bore absolutely no resemblance to Saul from BB other than being played by the same actor.
>>215369016Jimmy wasn't even remotely similar to Walt in almost any way, which shows did you watch?
>>215369043>Has alter egos that more le evil than his original self>unacknowledged master in their fields (science/law)>fuelled by resentment for the above>tall blondie wife>criminal mastermind all of which Saul in BB was nowhere close to beingPlease consider your media literacy card invalid anon
I feel like this series was about a different person.
>>215368776I watched for Howard and Chuck and FFd thru everything else
>>215369329This anon gets it.Like in BB Saul would turn into a blubbering wreck the moment he actually faced someone who was a serious player who might actually hurt him, and didn't give a shit about anybody other than himselfIn the first episode of BCS he was calmly talking down Tuco from killing people, even when he been allowed to walk away from the situation.
>>215368932>>215368972>but muh breaking bad>but muh breaking badKek. You will never see anyone talk about bcs as a good stand alone show on its own. It’s just>*pushes glasses back up nose* heh well at least it’s better than breaking bad because XYZBetter call Saul might be the absolute pinnacle of Reddit midwittery, people who love it think they are super duper smart for enjoying 6 seasons of boring slop because breaking bad was “too action packed” (whatever that means)I mean the fact that breaking bad which had countless memorable and exciting plots and sub plots fit into 5 seasons while they managed to stretch a spin-off show where literally nothing happens into 6 shows you which will get you more bang for your buck in terms of time investment to enjoyment
>>215369419Meant for >>215369189
>>215369423Yup. The stupidest thing is BB had about 3 to 4 scenes per season that could really be described as 'action'. Most of the series was about creating tension. and seeing the characters develop.Meanwhile BCS has about a dozen scenes of Mike doing Seagaleqsue fight scenes.
>>215368776Shut up faggot I had literally zero expectation from it when I began watching it and thought it was cash grab on a famous show but watched it nonetheless recently. Every cast and characters Chuck,Kim,Saul,Lalo,Nacho,Mike were spot on and the seasons and story was damn near perfection coupled with excellent real like cinematography. Vince really outdid himself on this one and this and bb will remain world's greatest tv shows ever made period
Breaking Bad is a hit for all time. It was worked on like a hit for all time. Better call Saul is more like a show where relaxed, yawning writers scribbled something on a chalkboard, then drank coffee and played something.
The black and white epilogue episodes are completely pointless. Don't watch them. All things considered. It was a good journey. Season 2-5 are the best. There were some god tier episodes for sure I can't remember what they were named>Chuck testifies in front of the Arizona Bar association>#Free Huell>Flashback episode about Mike going after the dirty cops>Mike picking up odd jobs at the Vet: Running security for the fat nerd phara who wants to sell to NachoSome of these episodes are every bit as good as BrBa. But as a whole it isn't.
>>215368776It was slop made because all the actors were so typecast by BB they can only play variations of their characters from it
>>215368776it was great until the final season. only dimwits call the show boring.
>>215369419hmm anon, it's like he had more confidence than was good for him when he knew criminals only from the court room and some cheap scams until he ran into a traumatic situation because he severely underestimated how dangerous the people he associated with could be.
>>215369423I think most of bcs fans are just that sort of contrarians who like some popular shit but don't want to admit it so they consume some closely related shit and claim it's much better. kinda like>pokemon? that shit is trash, I prefer digimon, now that's real kino, unlike that stupid pokemon
>it was great until the final season. only dimwits call the show boring.
Gotta say it was better than Breaking Bad. Still somewhat marvelly dialogue at times but less shitty actors overall.
>>215370847He has loads of traumatic and dangerous situations throughout BCS, and still stays the same character. Try again midwit.
>>215368776It's time to admit that you're a faggot. You have stupid taste in TV shows, and nobody respects you.
>>215370861Yes, like people who claim the Beach Boys and Megadeth are better than the Beatles and Metallica
>>215370929lmao try and say that again, this time without crying faggot
>>215370847Very reasonable, in BB he flickers between confidence and acting completely submissive and pathetic, which I think is consistent with BCS. When Jesse punches him his first reaction is to go for a gun, and once he loses that advantage he immediately goes all meek, but the moment Jesse is out the door he is back on being assertive. Reasonable to me that it's a guy who is secure in his element but incredibly afraid of physical confrontation. Same thing when Mike threatens him early in BB.
>heh um actually sweaty BCS is le heckin deep and intelligent because it shows you that Saul is a happy go lucky charismatic but slightly unwise parody of an ambulance chasing billboard lawyer because he went through so many traumatic life and death situations that would cause any sane person to become very careful with their words, withdrawn and actually probably leave the law profession for good This is the most midwit, incorrect, Reddit tier opinion I see posted on /tv/ regularly as if it’s a fact
>>215370929>immediate ad-hominem because someone doesn’t like the same slop as himBcs fans are all Redditors
>>215369189this is the main issue of this show. it should've been called better call jimmy because there's absolutely no saul in it. saul is a funny guy who doesn't shy away from crime, while jimmy is constantly frustrated and not content with what he's doing even when he's masquerading as "saul" and we never see jimmy transition to that saul from brba, it just happens through a time skip after kim dumps him.
>>215368776Maybe 40% right.I watched it because I liked the "world" of BB, not just Saul Goodman. And I learned not to go into anything with great expectations. I watched it because I wanted to see what happens to Saul in the end, but also what happened to Kim, how Mike became Mike and what happened to Hector. Was it slow? Yes. Was there plenty of filler? Sure. But there was still enough to enjoy and not suffer through it.If I rewatch it, I know there are plenty of great scenes and I skip a boring episode or fast forward through over long scenes.
>>215370995>>215371058BB Saul wasn't a dummy but it was very clear by s4 that he was out of his depth. BCS Jmmy on the other hand is running rings around cartel members from s1. In BB every indication was that Saul had only heard rumour of Gus through his reputation, while in BCS they were basically partners at points. You can always find excuses for retcons but they are still obvious retcons.
>>215368776I've only seen clips on youtube, never the whole show. It's one of those things to look at in pieces but don't want to sit and watch the whole thing.
>>215371058>See Jimmy aka Saul slowly become disillusioned with "doing the right thing">See Jimmy aka Saul chafe against conformity>See Jimmy aka Saul explicitly state he needs to do things his way>See Jimmy aka Saul change his name to Saul>See Saul aka Jimmy be told flat out that he is a bad man who cheats and lies to get his way multiple times>See Saul aka Jimmy ostracised by his peers in law>See Saul aka Jimmy work for the cartels>See Saul aka Jimmy cooperate with local head of criminal syndicate>See Saul aka Jimmy lose the love of his life>See Saul aka Jimmy in a timeskip being the Saul (you) know and love>See Gene aka Saul aka Jimmy go on trial as Saul Goodman>"There's no Saul in it."
>>215368776It was kino and I miss it
>>215371409yeah great recap, read and reply to the fucking posts dumbass>>215369189>>215371058>>215371320
BCS was very much needed for the BrBa universe. You have a whole world of heckin' nuanced grey characters with they own motivations and worldviews and this happy go lucky snarky snappy retard wearing clown suits and making quippy jokes. That's what Saul was in breaking bad, and that was his big issue, which was then fixed by the BCS series.
>>215369156slippin jimmy isn't his alter egohe wasn't a master in law, he barely got a law degreeresentment wasn't towards the above but to his brother who wouldnt recognize his effortsyeanot really. saul had a sense for it, walter only got so far because of saul
>>215368776i found the first episodes pathetic but then the show grew on me and i ended up looking forward to see how the feud against his brother could end.the last three seasons were just fun service, sometimes good, often bad
Overrated? It had abysmal viewership compared to BB
>>215372135Yeah exactly. Which is why attorneys have to rape a woman before they can defend a client in a rape trial. They can’t possibly exist within the same world as the rapist if they haven’t been through the same experiences as him and have the same world view which in turn shape how he dresses and the actions he takesFucking retard
>>215373227yeah breaking bad should have also had fucking spongebob instead of walter jr, surely that wouldn't ruin the drama-ness of the show at alldumbass
>>215370602Do you think he resents the fact that he's only allowed to play "Gus, again"?
>>215368776It suffers from the same problems any prequel has, which is having to work around what's already been established. Think of Nacho's death scene, where nobody else could possibly die because they're all in Breaking Bad.This show was at its best when it wasn't having to tiptoe around Breaking Bad and doing its own thing.Chuck and Howard are leagues ahead of a lot of BrBa characters.I think Breaking Bad is the better show overall, but not by very much.
>>215373266>the drama-nessHELLO SAAAAAAR
>>215374088It's not a Superman thread, fuck off with your dumb buzz phrase retarded newfag.
>>215374192PLS DO NOT REDEEM THE SUPERMAN SAAAR
>>215372955This. Everyone I speak to IRL either doesn't know about BCS or thought it was shit, while everyone loves BB
>>215368776How many times did I tell you faggots not to watch this dumb money grab ass shit showHowany times did I tell yallFuck yall niggaz seriously fuck yallYou mfs are full on retards 100% pure retards to the core
