Just got out of an early screening. It's a mess. Weird structure where the whole first third is a mockumentary, and it takes another third before the MC leaves her house. It's a mix of cliches and shit that's kinda innovative just because Chris doesn't know how to structure a movie. Kinda loved it in an outsider art way. Word of mouth won't be good. Was impossible for me to think about anything besides how it was made, I definitely didn't get engaged by the story itself. Feels as influenced by video games as movies.
I can’t even hate on Stuckmann anymore. He made a theatrical film. It probably isn’t terrible either. Good for him. But he will always be a pansexual. Embarrassing.
>>215379565Hey Mike
TELL THAT TO ZOD’S SNAPPED NECK
>>215379639Qrd on the pansexual thing? I doubt he said that out of the blue
>>215379688He made a pansexual Mormon life story confessional YouTube vid. Extremely cringe.
>>215379639>Stuckmann he is like MISTER bu-fu
>>215379751Jehovah's Witness
>>215379565>Feels as influenced by video games as moviesI mean that was his whole persona for decades, detailed deconstructions of games. He wants to go film now but he wasn't called 'the angry movie nerd', ya know?
The director can’t even walk in a straight line
>>215379688i remember hearing his wife fucks other guys
>>215379565wow that poster is 10x better than this movie deservesthe little bit of her eye being below pure white is perfect
>>215379565> mockumentarySo it’s a shitty version of district 9?
>>215379834its just a rip off of lake mungo which i read the movie is too
>>215379785Are you thinking of the right person, anon?
I went to a preview screeningIt's pretty bad. It's generic and fall for all the tropes, stupid characters and all. It's borderline Mockumentary.
>>215380014It really isn't.Spoilers: the main character's sister goes missing while filming a paranormal investigation show. The first act is a mockumentary about her going missing. While filming, guy shows up at their house, says "she finally let me go", and blows his brains out on the front porch. He's holding a DV tape that shows him abducting her and the MC hides it from the cops. She decides to use the clues she finds on the tape to find the sister and finds her held in a basement by a crazy old woman who worships an incubus and who's son was the kidnapper. They had been repeatedly forcing her to give birth in hope the child would be the incubus' child, and only one baby survives. The girls escape and come home and the sister tries to kill the baby, but then gets torn apart by devil dogs, and the other sister realized she had been chosen by the incubus to raise the kid. It's hard to say it's ripping off anything in particular, though it does revel in lots of horror cliches.
>>215380145i don't know what this plot shit has to do with anything. if you have a monsters mouth come outside of its other mouth and drip ky jelly, that's ripping off alien. nobody gives a fuck about whether the character 'decides to do' this or that
>>215379785That's a different youtuber. This movie is made by Stuckman Bufu(?) who was like a 'movie mocking' reviewer like Mr Plinkett
>>215380952What?
>>215381057Why did you recount the plot like some 5 year old?
If this is even 5 star on imdb level, he won
>>215379565Cool poster though
>>215381092Because barely anyone's seen the movie. I was telling people what happens because all they've got to go on is rumors, and I just saw it. And it isn't a rip off of lake mungo, it's got a completely different story and isn't a mockumentary for two thirds of the runtime.
>>215381005Stuckmann is such a brown-noser that he won't even review movies he doesn't like because he doesn't want to offend the people who made them
>>215381132>it isn't ripping it off because it has a different storyOh my god you really can't understand this. Just stop, you're twelve
>>215381167You do know that more mockumentary horror movies exist than Lake Mungo, right?
>>215379565i will try to check it out as to help out a low budget production. but idk, chris has way more money than most people with the youtube account, it's not like this was an incredible one shot passion project>>215379825i have no idea if this is true, but i remember a very old podcast he was on from 2014 where he talks about sex with his wife and how he's able to get her to cum and it was really weird and something i didn't want to know about stuckmann
>>215379565How many shorts did he make before taking the plunge on a feature?
>>215381204Bro, more low budget horror movies come out a year than you could watch in a year. Don't worry about supporting Stuckmann, other guys who are way smaller than him would benefit more from your attention.
>>215379688it was hip at the time and he wanted to fit in
>>215381153It's a recent change he made because of trying to make a real/good movie himself and discovering how hard it is. I kind of get it, he doesn't want to be critical and tear down someone else's work when there's a chance he's making the same or worse mistakes than them
hey guys, remember me?
>>215381270>Sand Shark, Land Shark, Sky Shark, House Shark!
>>215381197Listen cunt. If you showed this frame to any on this board and said what movie is this from they'd say 'uh.. lake mungo?' because it is, just with a different girl in the picture. And here is chris stuckmann saying, when asked whether his 'inspiration' was blair witch or whatever other one, "no lake mungo, i'm doing lake mungo". So, it rips lake mungo, ok cunt?Do you really think you wouldn't get sued if you put out a book that was the text of harry potter but at the end you wrote some more pages yourself that were different?

>>215379565>Just got out of an early screening
>>215381372It isn't even mockumentary for 2/3rds of the runtime, it's just a regular movieBlair Witch 2 was "inspired" by Blair Witch, but it sure wasn't a ripoffI've actually seen the movie, idiot, it's isn't the same
>>215381270you post ads for your channel on /tv/
>>215381439Let me put this a clearer way, where the point is that a movie is not its plot: Imagine, I make a movie tomorrow featuring a spy character called James Bonde, who for an hour does spy things with gadgets and a woman who betrays him, but which but which not the exact same thing in the same order as any of the existing Bond movies. At the one hour a mark a completely different film then happens which is science fiction. Do you REALLY not think it would be fair to say I 'ripped off Bond'? Character is the example here but that's still really part of plot, and the main problem you're having is you're a plotfag. Movies are not events, they are moving visuals. How is the story told? Is it told by family members speaking like a documentary about things they remember, holding up photos in a room of their house? Then it rips off another movie that invented that way of presenting events. It doesn't matter if the events are different. Please. This is very basic
>>215381543I think you're arguing with a person in a sweatshop who got paid 3 rupees to praise the movie and doesn't actually know what seeing a movie is like.
>>215379565It can't be as kino as this, right? RIGHT?
>>215381587Yeah, I'm getting paid big bucks by the fucking Alamo Drafthouse to tell this retard "I actually watched the movie and it's not what you, who hasn't, is so desperately trying to tell me it is"
>>215381439I saw it at AMC Steam Unseen and the way the older sister gets dragged deeper into a weird situation reminded me of House of 1000 Corpses more than Lake Mungo. Very different style than that movie, of course.
>>215381631But you didn't give any evidence, because you only talked about irrelevant plot shit
>>215381665>plot>irrelevantgood god you're a moron
>>215381683no, you're a plotfag (you're twelve)
The argument is just because people are talking at cross purposes because "rips off" and "is a rip of off" are two differnt things. A movie can steal plently from another movie but not be a "rip off of" that movie, in the sense that it is like another version of that movie.
>>215379565do you think ralphthemoviemakerand people like him are considering suicide, as Chris becomes more successful despite being less analytical about movies?
>>215381726The one guy's argument is "any horror mockumentary is a ripoff of Lake Mungo" which is just dumb, especially when the movie he's calling a ripoff gives up on the mockumentary angle before the opening credits even start
>>215381747Lake Mungo is a ripoff of house of leaves
>>215380145This sounds good. Unless the execution is shit.
>>215381747look at the image boss >>215381372
>>215381773It's pretty bad, but I kinda got into it because it's so counterintuitively put together that it felt novel. Believe me, that's a very generous take on it, though, because I watch a ton of crappy horror movies and anything that isn't just the same thing I've already seen a billion times gets my attention. I still think it'll flop and that it isn't worth seeing unless you're a hardcore horror nerd.
>>215379565I'll watch it because I watched Stuckmann as a teenager back when he actually reviewed movies. He always struck me as someone who thought too highly of himself so I'm expecting a mediocre flick.
>>215379799it's hard to do when you're carrying a massive python between your legs. i have the same problem.
>>215381594masterful use of eye and brow movement to convey his deranged state of mind. he obviously studied at the juilliard.
>>215380145That's a lot of implied rape for a directorial debut. Good luck stuck, I'm not even going to hatewatch this trash. Alway knew this guy was a creep.
>>215379681qrd?
>>215379565filteredthis is a /stuckmann/ board nigger
>>215379565>Mike Flanagan >Irish "American"That's how you know it's shit. Boo hoo my priest raped me and now I have to make an unrelated barrage of pseudo Catholic horror slop.
>>215379751>pansexualI highly doubt this guy has ever had anything but heterosexual sex, he probably just got turned on by transgender porn which doesn't even count.
>>215379639>pansexualSo he fucks kids?
>>215381756>Lake Mungo is a ripoff of house of leavesIt's really Australian Twin Peaks. They even named the family Palmer.
