Is it just me or was anyone else a bit confused with this show? I’m kinda confused with the family lines and how certain people are related. And sometimes it’ll mention someone’s relative but no name and I can’t remember if I’ve heard of them or if they have appeared. There is also so many different story lines and "families" and places and who is connected to what "Castles" are enemies of what other "Castles."
>>215382836I'm thinking of re-watching starting from season 1 with subtitles on so I can actually connect names and families and "places" (ex. "Winterfell) together easier. When I first watched it when it first came out it took till about season 2 until I started to somewhat know the names and different story lines. But i'd always forget the names of a lot of the non-main characters.
>>215382836Yeah I hear you. The books aren't any better. I read the first 2 books in the ice and fire series at the insistence of a good friend. Long before the series started, around late 90’s to early 00’s. Thought the first book was super boring but seemed to have some promise of some “can’t put it down” moments ahead. Friend helped goad me into reading the next, clash of kings, and holy shit! even more boring than the first and was almost twice as long. Kept reading because it seemed like something might happen and then didn’t. the “can’t put it down” moments were only to finish just to finish. I read a lot of different genres but have cycled in the sci/fi fantasy on a regular basis (I grew up reading it). I’m generally a big reader but George R. R. Martin is not for me.Then the series started. Promos made it seem like it would be good but then holy fuck, it was the soap opera “days of our lives” and just as boring. Watched the first 5 seasons with my wife. Each season Was like going to the dentist. You think it’s going to go somewhere and something great will happen but the only good thing is the needle in the gums to numb ya, a little gas maybe, you come to and you’re glad it’s over.
>>215382836 George RR Fartin is a hack
>>215383069gotta hand it to your pal for somehow managing to goad you into reading a 300k word sequel to a book you disliked. that's a good rib
>>215382836Have you tried not being retarded?
>>215383416Dude you know the show is hard to follow with all the names. I'm not saying I was completely lost but some of the names and places would get a bit confusing.
I didn't really have any trouble, except for that I didn't realize Jeor and Jorah were father/son until Sam mentions it like in S5 or S6. I think I was just checked out during the scene they explicitly mention it prior to that. Also Aemon's specific relationship to the Targaeryens went over my head. I didn't realize he was part of the royal line and so closely relared to Aerys II and Rhaegar. In retrospect, that scene of him explaining his heritage to Jon is one of the best of the series.
>>215382836doesn't help that the show invents new shit not present in the source material
