My only complaint is that they waffle between characterization as a family and as unwilling shipmates, so one episode they're willing to risk their lives to save eachother with no personal gain but then you have rigel or someone willing to sell out the others if it gets him something he wants

A lot of innuendo, a lot of leather, occasional pew pew pew and fun characters
>>
>>215385440
I didn't see any waffling really, it's more of a progression. They start out hating each other and slowly grow into a family that would die for each other. As for Rygel, he's just a selfish coward, but usually pulls through in the end.
>>
>>215385475
If it was a steady progression I'd get it but I mean if you watch the show in order you'll notice that its like "we're just aliens trying to get to our homes" one episode, then family, then back to getting home. It makes it feel like they were out of order sometimes.

Guardians of the Galaxy Version .01

Make sure you watch the 1st season episodes in the right order. It's been over a decade, but I remember various websites would have the 1st season out of order. Apparently they broadcast the first season wrong when it originally aired.

rip off of buck rogers - the 80s series.
even the same kind of lame jokes - HEY - I could kill FOR a HAMburger RIGHT now
the main actor is incapable of looking or speaking like a human, funnily enough.
watch out for him walking down a corridor shouting before a minor explosion happens that cuts him off. happens every two or three episodes for some reason.
it's better than a lot of things for sure, and has a different feel than most, but still sort of repetitive. women are good in it effects are generally good.

I've seen both shows and no, Farscape is not a Buck Rogers ripoff. Yes it borrows from earlier sci fi shows like Buck Rogers, Star Trek and Blake's 7, but ALL sci-fi borrows from what came before. You are retarded of you think it's a Buck Rogers clone
>>
>>215384898
If you can get past the first few episodes, youll fall in love with everything that comes after. and dont forget The Peacekeeper Wars finale
>>
>>215385959
PK Wars kinda sucked, did not have the strong writing that the show had. Doesn't help that it tried to cram an entire season's story into 180 minutes. Also what the fuck is up with Sikozu's redesign? They turned her into a punk rocker dyke
>>
>>215385984
>PK Wars kinda sucked
Sure it wasnt up to par with the rest of the show, but it was the ending everyone wanted. it was weird for the reason you stated, much of the story had to be cut down so there will be things we just wont understand. ive heard they flushed out the 5th season in the comic books
>>
>>215385501
End of Season 1 is like that.
You have them all storming the peacekeeper base to save Crichton and practically the next episode later, Rygel steals module to sell everyone to Scorpy, only to double cross him too and bring Crais to tell John he's sowwy about the whole "hunting him down to death".

It was a good twist, but came seemingly out of nowhere and went over too fast due to episodic format.

I think there should have been 1-2 extra episodes where you can see Crais reconsider all his life choices more gradually, possibly even before he's bullied out of command post by Scorpias.
Simultanously, give Rygel a more acutely enticing incentive to sell them out. Maybe they get a message that his cousin got deposed and court is looking for a new Dominar (or old) - right now.
And then conversely, give crew a good reason not to gut him like a fish for such blatant betrayal. Maybe have a trial episode afterwards.
>>
>>215386022
>ive heard they flushed out the 5th season in the comic books
I read the season 5 comics and they were not very good, just Star Wars-lite. None of the wit and strong character writing of the show. Maybe if the original writers were involved it could've been something.

That's true for basically every single tv show that gets a pity comicbook "continuation" (which will promptly get ignored anyway if they ever get a revival, like with X-Files)

My father-in-law is a producer. He is insanely gifted. We were watching a Farscape episode together years ago and I asked him what it would cost to make it today. I will never forget his answer…

Am I the only one struggling with S3 on a first watch? I was hooked during the previous seasons, watching two or three episodes in a row, but with this one I barely have any interest in it.
I blame the cast split, even though I'm past that part.
>>
>>215387204
I'm not sure if that's season 3 but the only part of the show I found a bit tedious is the part where John and Aeryn split and there's a lot of drama about it.

>>
>>215392187
it is THE worst episode of the series. Other "bad" episodes are at least funny and amusing in their badness, like Taking the Stone, Jeremiah Crichton and Dream a Little Dream. I ET is just fucking lame.
>>
>>215392591
I ET kinda had an idea. It's sort of interesting to put Crichton on a planet and be the first alien discovered by them. The episode is just kind of bland though, especially compared to what comes later.
Jeremiah Crichton is way over hated imo. The fake beard is really bad granted, but it's a nice setting and Rygel gets loads of good moments in it.
>>
>>215392646
I was always kind of confused for the hate for that episode, do people really fixate on the beard so much?
>>
>>215392766
On the dvd commentary for the episode, I think one of the writers makes a comment on how much hate the beard got at the time. That's kind of what I'm basing that assumption on.
>>
>>215385984
I thought PK Wars wrapped up the series as well as it could given the circumstances. Finally seeing the wormhole weapon in action was a huge payoff too. If the show ended with the Season 4 ending and they never made any kind of conclusion it wouldve been way worse
>>
>>215392962
Pretty much my thoughts too. It was better than nothing, and the wormhole weapon climax was actually pretty awesome moment. Them fucking up Pilots voice in it is pretty damn bad though.

Anon, rape is what is about to happen to you in that gif.
And while we know that Chiana is mostly compatible with human genitalia, you can't see the crazy old three eyed witch behind them, and we have NO idea what the two redheads are packing in their pants other than the small one is somewhat sexually compatible with a leather clad half lizard hybrid whose idea of foreplay is getting his eyeballs licked by a spider monster while strapped to a chair.
You could end up with the opposite case of Staanz, a fairly attractive female of her species.
>>
>>215384898
I don't think there was a single character I didn't absolutely hate by the end of the show, except for maybe Moya and her pilot.
>>
>>215385817
The ending where he finally gets what he wants and even he realizes the horrors that unleashing such a weapon would entail is fantastic.
One mistake, or one person with that technology and a grudge, or allowing the weapon to function one second too long, and all of existence blinks out.
That being said, the variation of the wormhole weapon built by The Ancient and Alt John was VERY fucking useful. Still could get out of hand easily.

>>
>>215395513
I only found Stark insufferable. Crichton has his moments but its mostly because his acting is borderline schizo from "normal guy" to "hamming it up like a theatre actor on cocaine".
>>
>>215384898
One of the best love stories ever made.
>>
>>215387833
Clearly that world had been visited before. The translator microbes were common enough that it was a surprise to find someone like John without them, as evidenced in the first episode.
The I, ET episode indicated that the government on that planet were aware of aliens, and were trying to keep that information under wraps to avoid panic or whatever.
Translator microbes spread naturally through their own breeding process. Getting an injection of them merely speeds up the process if you have never been exposed to them like the humans from Earth had not.
I never saw it as a plot hole. Just proof that the weird little planet had indeed been visited by an alien race long before, and that the translator microbes had flourished and spread there, infecting the natives.
>>
>>215395513
I absolutely loathe Stark and they kept bringing him back. Fuck off.
