Michael Cera's issue was that he had no bass in his voice. I couldn't immerse myself as Scott. Him looking like such a gormless average guy who doesn't stand out in a crowd is probably why this movie does so well with nerdy looking or lonely men. MEW is beautiful. Cera isn't a looksmatch yet here he is winning the affection of Ramona who honestly doesn't deserve the effort because she's only a teenager but is loose enough to be romantically linked with so many people. Even testing out homosexuality for a spell. A woman like this is too flippant and her behavior is too reminiscent of a spoiled feral cat. She's a girl with the spirit of a whore. What would Scott be even "winning" here? Nothing. Knives was right there. Pure. But Scott knew he wasn't right for her affection because she simply wasn't hot enough for him. There's literally no other reason for him saying no to that.
