Weren't the Northern houses supposed to betray the Boltons during this battle and stab the phalanx in the backs but D&D figured no one would understand that so they just had the Vale show up?
>>
>>215393391
For me it’s Jon avoiding certain death from raining arrows, an entire wave of horses charging towards him, and somehow getting out from the bottom of a body pileup.

S6E9 is one of the worst episodes of the show

Honestly I'm able to turn my brain off for action sequences. I enjoyed this episode, even the vale twist which was especially retarded. Because we got to see jon beat Ramsay half to death and that was incredibly satisfying.

The problems came later in s8 when they had retarded plot twists AND "fuck you audience" moments at the same time. Like Arya killing the NK. So you couldn't enjoy it even with your brain off.
>>
>>215394339
>Weren't the Northern houses supposed to betray the Boltons
Something like that would probably have happened in winds of winter if the fat fuck was actually finishing it, but it's totally unclear when and where. Most fans speculate that it would happen in a battle against stannis.
>>
To be fair, they were given no direction for this scene and were just filming random shit
>>
>>215395987
I heard it was a disaster behind the scenes because it was filmed chronologically for no good reason and the management of of the horses was absolutely amateurish.
>>
>>215393825
Hardhome was rubbish. Watchers on the Wall was the last good battle
>>215395059
It's not just that stuff like that was unbelievable, it's that the show used to be good because 'the good guys' didn't have plot armour and downpours of arrows couldn't be mitigated by plot armour

God people (admittedly less on /tv/) still act like this show had one bad season/dropped the ball with the ending but it was absolute high budget high production value garbage since the very end of season 4 (specifically the 'smash the beetles' scene)
>>
>>215393391
>>215393527
The way this battle was filmed was revolutionairy film work

It set the mark for movie making at a level that even movies are having a hard time to achief

For tv series this was never done before in rhis manner and probably 75% of the budget for that whole season went to filming that battle
>>
>>215393758
He insulted her a little bit.
>>
>>215393527
fucking hell. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. The force required to knock a man off his horse with a swing like that would also be applied to the guy swinging the sword. The force of the horse charging and the swing of the sword would at the least knock the swordsman back but potentially break both of his arms.

This is so frustratingly stupid. The chaotic energy of the battle is kino though.
>>
>>215393476
tl;dr it's a magic sword that can cut through armor

>>215396123
probably for continuity reasons, having to reset the field to go back and shoot a battle sequence during phase 3 of the battle would probably suck ass

That has always been the case for art depicting battles. Especially fictional battles like from mythology. The art is meant to depict the chaos and glorify heroism of war, often highlighting notable leaders in the battle. The notables leaders tend to be the focus while the nameless heroes are chaotically strewn about, desperately fighting enemies. There is a difference between art showing its own time period and the past, too. Art from its own time tends to be more realistic and will more often include formations. But art depicting battles from the past or mythology will be much more chaotic.
>>
I didn't enjoy a single battle in got. I'm not even sure I enjoyed anything beyond season 1

because regardless of how much people cry about hoe season 08 was bad because of "bad writing", their actual issue with it is that their favorite character didn't win. Battle of the Bastards is a proof of this: the writing was just as piss poor as season 08, but Jon wins so viewers rated it highly

fight in a city like new york that would limit the dragons ability to fight, you could set up rope traps between buildings to snare it and then murder it with big fuck off ballista as its struggling on the ground
fighting a dragon in the open field is suicide unless you have some serious anti-air emplacements like a DShKM or something similar

Line is ridiculously spread thin to take on that cav and there are zero fortifications or natural terrain to hide from a fucking dragon in. Have this battle in a steep mountain pass or a lush heavily wooded area so the dragon only has a couple ways in or out to attack and you can concentrate arrow, ballista, and bombard fire on it. You should spread out your infantry AND artillery to avoid an instant BTFO scenario, but not nearly as much as they did in the pic, the dragon is not the only threat here. As-is this is a losing battle even without the dragon.

well it's an ambush battle, but even though the line is thin if the spears have high enough defense and the cav has weak armor it could be possible with heavy losses. Spear units are strong against cav and their numbers are negated by the fact there's only so many units that can attack in one direction at a time before they start bunching up making them sitting ducks for missiles, imo phyrric victory for the lannisters sans dragon

Enable guard on all spearmen. Turn the archers around and quickly kill the hero unit for morale debuff.

Then have archers attack @ .75 max distance each cavalry closest to them at that distance until they break and flee. Then bring spearmen that were fighting that unit up and flank cavalry next to them, causing them to flee and cascade morale collapse.

>t. Total War autist

>That's her future plunder for when she wins the battle
She didn't need it. She shouldn't have even wasted time on Casterly Rock. She should've marched straight for King's Landing, tore the walls asunder with her Dragons, and then sent her men in to claim the land. There was zero reason for her to fight Cersei in a series of pitched battles. It made ZERO sense.
Even if Cersei threw some meat shield armies between Daenerys and King's Landing, then Daenerys could easily carve through them with her:

>100k Dothraki

>when Lannisters vs. Dothraki was far superior considering there was actual tactics?

Because the subplot to setup Dany's heelturn was dropped (Dothraki rape legions roaming through the Reach, gives Sam a good reason to man up and take command, and leave Jon, chastising him for his slavish devotion and subordination to prophecy against his conscience like a pussy whipped nigga). And D&D being budgeting idiots insisting on gorillion apes on steeds for Battle of the Bastards type shit.

Lannisport Stalingrad/Berlin '44 should've been the big battle. Naval shit off the coast with Euron. Pressure from the North, and Southeast from a dragonfire booby trapped total propaganda victory at King's Landing making Dany's rule completely untenable. Then Northmen simply peeling a staged withdrawal, with the city zerg rushed by wights ...

The Godseye not being central to defeating the white walkers and/or Bloodraven-Cripple was almost as retarded as Tyrion and Baldy saying absolutely nothing about Dany killing his father's one successful commander that beat Robert, the best living general - a Targ loyalist - AND HIS SON.
