I don’t care if I “didn’t get it” or was “filtered”, this movie is a snoozer. I watch movies to be entertained, and this movie failed in doing that tremendously.

>>215407653>“didn’t get it”What is there to "get"? It's not a mystery and it doesn't try to be. It is merely thought provoking. It is a movie that suggests there is a far higher intelligence in the universe or perhaps a far more evolved form of life that has existed far longer than the human species. The movie shows that this higher intelligence was responsible for the evolution of ape to man, and then from man to its next great evolution whatever that might be, and that evolution is an extremely long and slow process but curated and inevitable. You merely need to be of somewhat average intelligence and have a lifetime of experience in order for 2001: A Space Odyssey to provoke your emotions and stimulate your thoughts. If what you took away from this movie is that it is "the most boring movie you've ever seen", then surely you are a boring person of little culture and education who has thus far lived a dull and uninteresting life.Be a better man.
>>215407653I thought so too, but then I watched Stalker

>>215408762Shut up, Kubrick cuck. With the exception of The Shinning, all of Kubricks movies are boring. You can pretend they are great and thought provoking all you want. They ain't.
first half is beautiful but painfully slow/dull, second half picks up nicely though.

>>215407653>on’t care if I “didn’t get it” or was “filtered”>this movie is a snoozerwhen you understand things they can be much more excitingan alien intelligence who has been observing us from the start, maybe even our creator, is kind of terrifying and exciting and also mysterious. if we became aware of this alien intelligence it would be even more so. drop that onto an amazing AI gone rogue story with amazing practical special effects and music, it's a winner for me but art is subjective, it's ok for you to hate it anon
airplane 2 did it better
>>2154083752001 is an endlessly entertaining movie if you're not retarded, though. You and OP are both retarded.
I've recently read the books. I might get around to the movie and its sequel someday.
>>215407653watch the sequelit's better and what you're looking for2001 is nothing but pretentious crap for midwits
>>215410502only thing 2001 really has going for it is the cinematographythat's it
>>215407653I assume these threads are just troll threads. 2001 is fucking unbelievably good.
>>215407653you gotta put this film in its context. 2001 on the big screen in 1968 is so technically mindblowing that the slow long shots are essential for people's brains to truly capture the marvel they're looking atI guarantee you nobody in 1968 fell asleep watching this. You could argue it aged badly however
This movie is actually a perfect prediction of 2001, HAL 9000 is Netanyahu who convinced the US to go into Iraq after doing 9/11, the spaceship represents the MIC and the protagonist is a soldier who gets redpilled and must destroy Israel in order to stop the destruction of the world
>>215408601For art.
>>215407653Not everyone was born to appreciate great films. It's alright.>>215409449>when you understand things they can be much more excitingIn the case of 2001, I don't agree. I was floored by the film as a young teenager, and didn't understand a thing about it. All I understood was that it was a brilliantly directed film and it changed the way I looked at films.>>215410610>you gotta put this film in its contextIf you think this, you don't really appreciate the film.
>>215410610This.Beautiful cinematography when you realize how old it is but the pace was awful.I only liked the ai part of the movie and the monkeys.
