I was on a long flight and watched all his Bond movies and I have to say: what an utter, horrific waste of 15 years and 5 movies. None of the overarching storyline is actually overarching or well thought out and nothing makes sense by the end. It's truly a failed experiment. Just watch his first two and leave it at that. He should've left the role after Quantum. I like the guy and rate him as Bond and an actor but he overstayed his welcome by 10 years, at least.
>Bond burgers your sister >come to 4chan to cry
>>215410884Who cares? Franchise has been dead since 1989. Female M was the killing blow.
I liked his run, mostly for the emphasis on cinematography which I thought was a good choice for Bond as it heightened the glamour of the locations he visited. At a purely visual level, the previous runs look like shit next to Craig's run.
Quantum is the only good one because it's fast paced action schlock like Bond is meant to be. All his other movies huffed their own farts.
>>215411104I agree. As much as I loathe and detest Daniel Craig, his movies and especially NTTD, I can't deny that it looked gorgeous in IMAX back in '21. Linus Sandgren is a master. Especially the way he filmed the Italy segment. Amazing stuff. >>215411130Agree. Casino takes way too long to go to the casino and most of the first act is useless except so the writers don't have to write too many poker scenes which they don't have the smarts for.
>>215411148>>215411130Quantum of Solace had to face the writer's strike. Even Daniel had to step in because legally, the actor and director were the only ones allowed to write a few lines or something like that. That's why QoS is minimal, the shortest Bond movie, "normal" villains, not much development (compared to CR), but I like that you like it because I enjoyed it too.
>>215411201QoS is genuinely underrated and I never use that term because I never think too much about what is rated or otherwise but it really is. It has a great, short and sweet plot, two hot Bond girls, a really cool villain with a realistic but evil plot and the action is visceral but creative. No complaints whatsoever. I can't fathom how someone cannot enjoy it. It's perfect. If Craig's run was like it, he'd be my favorite Bond by far.
>>215410884the last good bond movie was Golden EyeCasino Royale was ok I guesseverything else is trash
>they made moneypenny black>nobody criticised itwhy?
Bond was the last gasp of a culture that's now long dead. Nobody cares about le stiff upper lip bong aristocrat officer. Turning Bond into a knockoff Bourne and selling the franchise to a burger corporation is a fitting end.
I love Skyfall. Especially first act and the final battle in Bond's birth home. Silva is an okay villain, the disfigured face is memorable, but his motive was sketchy; he wants to hurt M so he orchestrates an elaborate plan to get caught and then escape in order to just shoot her with a gun? But he could have bombed her at any time - because he bombed her office earlier in the movie. That part is the weakest part of the movie.
>>215411303People are not that racist, they just like to see pretty people in movies regardless of color. This is been said for years, but PC culture does not believe it, they hire bad and ugly actors, so when people get mad at it they can claim it's a racist backlash.
>>215411303They got away with it because the culture wasn't as volatile or redpilled back then and they picked two decent enough black actors who weren't aggravating (Wright for Felix and Harris for Monepenny). A world of difference from the insufferable CUNT in NTTD.
>>215411499It's not any of this and you're deeply delusional. They got away with it because Naomie Harris is a likeable actress who had been in big movies before that and they gave her a pass. Not any of this crap you're saying. It's not because she's black but because she was Naomie Harris. I remember her from Miami Vice. Great movie.
>>215411442It was all heist movie bullshit, where they add detail for no reason beyond predicting stuff == smart. Like Silva knew exactly where and when Bond would catch him and hid explosives in the walls that would send a train crashing into Bond so he could make his escape. At that point you just have to accept the writers don't care about explanations.
>>215411561>>215411442People laud it because of the Adele song and it having the "sheen" of being a prestige movie despite being way more poorly written than even the least good Bond movies and having an asinine plot despite no writer's strike. They wasted all their money on the director, cinematographer and cool, "cinematic" locations that the script was the last thing anyone checked.
>>215411561>>215411600i can agree that script is crappy but i like the part when Bond is weak and can't complete his physical test but fakes it. and then M ignores he failed it and sends him on the mission. I love that whole part.
>>215411898>M sends him to get killed>after he almost dies because of her at the start>he somehow still cries for her when she dieswhat cucked nonsense. it makes no sense in-universe and was just Daniel Craig crying because Judi Dench was leaving. Such a meta movie in all the worst ways.
Why does he look so femenine?
>>215411934she knew him. she knew his soul. She was the closest thing he had to a mother. But i agree that only fags cry.
>>215411971LOOOOOL such nonsense.
It depends on what you want from a Bond movie. If you want cartoonish Bond go watch the old movies. The Craig ones were more realistic. You can't make a Bond movie today like the Roger Moore ones because it would look cringe, like a comedy. Also you can't make the same jokes today.
>>215412020The Moore movies were brimming with soul. The concept of Bond cannot be taken seriously as a genuine drama thriller. End of. It's ridiculous and they realized this shortly after QoS which is why the last three movies were Brosnan-copying drivel to the point where he made jokes even cornier than Moore or Brosnan but with none of the charm to make them work. It was a failed 15 years.
fag
Bond is supposed to be a manly casanova but they casted this fag who goes to gay bars
>>215412041Yeah Moore movies have should but go and make one of that movies today and everybody will laugh at you. It's the same reason why Batman became more realistic. Only 10 years old are going to watch a Batman movie like the ones from the 90s. But if you make The Dark Knight, more realistic and dramatic, then more people will go watch them.
>>215412102The ideal tone for Bond today is to go look at the MI movies before the last two awful ones and just take that and put in some Brosnan (GD and TND) flavour and it's an easy billion dollars.>>215412093SLASH MY WRISTS INTO PIECESTHIS IS MY LAST GAY BAR
>>215412102This is true. A good recent example is that awful, childish and degenerate Reddit Superman movie. Everyone IRL i talked to about it told me that if it's not a MoS sequel with Cavill, who everybody knows and likes, and not some random fag then they won't watch it. People want serious and cinematic movies, not cartoons. BUT Bond needs to lighten the fuck up, for sure. I think Casino Royale is the perfect midway point where it has glamor, adventure and fun but also drama, realism and grit.
Brosnan > Connery > Dalton > Lazenby > Moore > Craig
>>215412232Why Lazenby over Moore? Craig should never be in lists because he's not Bond and never was. Aside from that, perfect list.
>>215410884I don't get this current /tv/ hate meme. Although Daniel Craig has since been confirmed a homosexual, a felcher of men, an AIDS-ridden pederast, a scat enthusiast and Remain voter, we didn't know that before, and otherwise Craig's Bond seems a reasonable grimdark reboot for a series property that had previously been little but a live-action, parodic Scooby Doo for the laughable jinogism of the dead british empire. The biggest problems were that Quantum of Solace was simply BORING, and No Time to Die has the wakanda sheboon who could hardly have been more ridiculous if she had a bone through her nose. Craig's Bond was never the highest cinema but neither was anything Sean Connery starred in, and personally I like the implied angst of a manlet 007 who struggled through SAS training and>my guess is you didn't come from money>and your school friends never let you forget it>which means you were at that school by the grace>of someone else's charity, hence the chip on your shoulder.the first hint of any actual character development in 40 years of film. The 60s are over and Bond needs to be at least slightly more than someone who just fucks women in between deploying fantastical gadgets. The old Bond films don't even have decent action sequences by contemporary standards.
>>215412146Yeah make it look like MI2, cool and less deep and dramatic. That could work after the more dramatic Bond. But it can't be so goofy like the old ones. The action scenes have to be more realistic.>>215412179That's another example. I haven't watched the recent Superman movies but it looks cartoonish and more teenagers. Yeah if that is the audience you want go for it. I'm not going to watch a movie with a fucking dog with a superman cape.
>>215411130Wrong opinion. They are all shit because they don’t have cool gadgets or transformer tier cars. That’s essential for a good bond. That one is only slightly better because bond actually goes on a mission
>Egads, Q! What is that on your face? It's called "mpox", 007, and I'll have you know it's very trendy right now. But I hardly see how my complexion is relevant. You know, I could do more damage with my laptop in my Adventure Time pajamas...
>>215412418>Sure, sure, Q. But is it contagious? Am I in any danger?Preposterous, 007. For you to catch it, I would probably have to felch you. And we all know that's not going to happen... unless?
>>215412283>The 60s are over and Bond needs to be at least slightly more than someone who just fucks women in between deploying fantastical gadgets.Wrong>gritty rebootSo many bad takes in one post. The formula works, hot women, cool gadgets, a car chase and several action scenes, especially naught villain. There was never any need to make it a boring drama about internal affairs or make bond uncool
>>215412439>No, Q, for the hundredth time, you may not felch me. Didn't we talk to MI6 Human Resources about this?Yes, and as you might recall, 007, although you are not obliged to consent, I am still permitted to ask, every day.
>>215411224>realistic but evil plotHis plot was actually tamer than something Nestle had already done years prior to the film
>>215412456>Fine, Q. But back to this mpox thing. Is that the same as "monkeypox"?Yes, James, this little "inconvenience" of mine was once called monkeypox, in the past. But they changed the name, you see, because it could be insulting to Africans. I mean, yes it's true that at least six of the men I met in the park last night were Cadbury-coloured, but that's a complete coincidence. I could have just as easily caught it from a smooth, hairless Eton boy on holiday in Ibiza...
>>215412439>>215412418>explicitly made him a fag in NTTD as if it wasn't obvious>Craig said his Bond is bisexual and flirted with the twink fag QI hate this fucking world and Daniel Craig.>>215412337MI soared while Bond floundered for so long. They showed perfectly well how to do a spy blockbuster. But they went to shit with the last two ones and it's Bond's chance to step up now. As long as Denis exits the movie and they get an actual action movie director like David Leitch and a British action writer like Drew Pearce to make it. Anything else is DOA.
>>215410884Skyfall is much better than Quantum tho. Spectre and No Time to Die are worst Bond of all time candidates however.
>>215412475>OK then, "mpox" it is. Or maybe we should call it "Q pox?" By the way, does "Q" now stand for...That will be quite enough, 007. Now, on to the mission. Just like last time, we are issuing you a tiny radio. I've been tweaking it, and now the radio is even small enough to fit in your, um, posterior.>You mean, in case I get captured by the enemy?
>>215412418He was such a shit take on Q. I think “smart blood” is the worse “gadget” in any bond, ever. Gadgets are something 14 year olds would want to play with. A tracking device in your blood you can’t remove is something globehomo would force you to inject. It should have come from the villain, not Q

>>215412283It's one guy obsessively making these threads. That being said...> The old Bond films don't even have decent action sequences by contemporary standards.Seriously? The fight scene in FRWL? The attack on Blofeld's volcano lair? They still hold up pretty well, IMO.
>>215412557(me)Oh god, I forgot the time he threw Ernst Stavro Blofeld into a chimney, for fuck's sake!
>>215410884It is how schizophrenic it all is what gets me. For what it is I think Casino Royale is fine, at the very least I understand what they were going for. Yet, even by QoS the tone of CR has gone. By Skyfall it has become some completely different. By Spectre and NTTD it is in some ways even more ridiculous then what it originally defined itself as not being - like Blofeld is basically Dr Evil in terms of reveal. I think the worst thing is something like Spectre and NTTD just come across as thinking they are somehow serious or mature when they are not. Something like Moonraker or Die Another Day (which too be clear I actually do enjoy) are balls to the wall in how ridiculous they are, but they ultimately do not have delusions of being better to what came before or try to be arty. As you say, clearly not overarching at all (which I do not think Bond films should be beyond a few references that are ultimately inconsequential) and it is so dragged-out.
Forget about constant jokes about women and treating women as sex objects. That Bond is not going back. You will get more women characters in it, first it was M, then the black 007. The times changed, get over it. If you don't like the new movies just don't watch them and watch the old ones that you like but don't think those type of movies are going to return. It's like saying hey I want a cartoonish movie like Batman Forever, That Batman is not going to be made in a big movie. It will be realistic and maybe a little more goth or emo like the last one but not like the 90s.

>>215412459>>215411224The villain's plan is directly inspired by the Bolivian water crisis.
Leo Suter will be the next James Bond. Screencap this and go bet money on it.
>>215410884The Quantum plotline ended in Bloodstone btw.
>>215411303The bigger issue I have, and I am surprised even the woke mob did not jump on this, is that they made Moneypenny a field agent. Now, I take issue with her being a field agent in itself, but, which is where I am surprised the woke mob did not criticise it, the film basically says Moneypenny cannot cut being a field agent she is going to become a secretary. It seems sort both insulting to secretaries and women in general in how it, clearly unintentionally though the result is there, with what they did.
>>215412916Just hammers home how schizophrenic the Craig run was and what a waste it ended up being. The reason she went back to being a secretary is just for the heckin' member berries and OH MY GOD THAT'S LE CLASSIC OFFICE FROM THE SEAN CONNERY MOVIES but they also wanted to be pozzed and lame and have her be a field agent and no one wanted to back down on this from the studio and the creatives you get pure schizophrenia.
>>215412494>MI soared while Bond floundered for so long. The MI films released during the Craig era have more in common with Bond than the Craig films do with Bond. So much of the Craig run is just using Bond iconography shallowly, neither actually understanding or even liking it.
>>215412020>The Craig ones were more realistic. You get degrees of being gritty or dark and so on, but Bond in whatever form is not meaningfully realistic. Trying to be realistic is not even a good way to approach is as the film franchise since Dr No has always leaned to pulp.

>>215413181I do apologize for saying that but I simply get too angry when people spout stuff I know to be wrong and false and your tone was already combatitve and it just bred that response. I just want you to know your views on Bond are awful and wrong and you should either reevaluate them or just stop talking about Bond.>>215413016MI2/MI5 are as good as any classic Bond movie. MI2 especially is a straight up Bond movie with Hunt being a cool casanova spy and Anthony Hopkins is basically M. It's a Bond movie through and through but MI5 has great Bond-like sequences and beats.
>>215413071Almost not action movies are truly realistic because they are movies at the end of the day and people want to see spectacular action scenes not realistic ones where the protagonist can't defeat more than 1 guy and with difficulty.Yeah Bond can't be totally realistic and deep I agree on that. It would be another thing then. But still your action scenes have to be more realistic that in the old movies so people get it as a serious movie and not a comedy. Many people didn't like Bond dying in the last movie but I think the whole love story with Lea and his son and then he scarifying himself to save them... I liked it. It was something emotional and different. It gives the character some humanity.I also like that the movies have some type of common story. That they are all connected. Not just a random dude in each movie.
>>215413227>Anthony Hopkins is basically M.I always thought this was a great line>Ethan Hunt: No. She's got no training for this kind of thing.>Mission Commander Swanbeck: What? To go to bed with a man and lie to him? She's a woman - she's got all the training she needs.
>>215413248>It gives the character some humanity.Do you think Bond does not have humanity is other films?
>>215413263MI2 has a lot of great dialogue and back-and-forth. Really great stuff. The love triangle and hero-villain rivarly with Ethan/Ambrose was amazing stuff. Technically, the film is excellent and the way it works every single mask reveal to be dramatic and powerful was awesome. In the other movies, mask reveals mean nothing. I really love MI2. It is an amazing blockbuster. I only wish they'd gotten a different female lead because Thandie Newton is the weak link. She's not hot enough to be a leading lady in such a big movie. If she was recast, it'd be 10/10. Also, Ethan in it resembles none of the whimpy nerd in MI1 or the Hunt in later movies where he's too stoic and self-serious. I believe Cruise played Hunt like Bond here intentionally.
>>215413227Your emotionality identifies you as either a woman or a nigger, the perfect audience for Nu Bond.
>>215413293Please don't respond to reddit spacing bait.>IT GIVES HIM HECKIN HUMANITYit's code for beta male losers that don't want even fictional characters to be great and awesome because they're such losers that they're not content in being losers but everyone, even fictional people, have to be weeping losers like themselves.

>>215413293I don't know, maybe, I don't remember now. But I'm just saying I liked that part, that's all.
>>215413248>But still your action scenes have to be more realistic that in the old movies so people get it as a serious movie and not a comedy.Something like the fight in Red Grant in FRWL is realistic and not played for comedy at all. This idea that something like the convoluted plot in Skyfall or Ana de Armas fight scene in Not Time to Die are somehow realistic I do not understand. You can maybe say the Craig films have in the broad sense have (or at least intention for) a serious tone, but a lot the action and consequences are not that different to other Bond films when you get down to it. Like plenty of people Bond knows pre-Craig get killed. His wife gets killed. Felix's wife gets raped and murdered. Even in Moonraker, a film that is campy and has Bond go to space, a woman gets chased and mauled by dogs in what is played seriously dark and not comedic.>>215413378The issue a lot of people have with Craig's performance is he makes Bond come across as bland and unemotional. For example contrasts, Dalton's Bond very much plays it that there is an anger to him that he is supressing. Even Moore's Bond, for all the comedy and Roger Moore playing Bond as Roger Moore, can still hint at and play there being depth to the character when the situation calls for.
>>215413573Brosnan Bond and Alec first meeting in GoldenEye has more emotional power and depth than all 5 Craig films. Two friends, shattered by betrayal and external forces, forced to reckon with who they are now. It was tragic and beautiful.
Craig is my personal favorite Bond. I do agree though that everything after Quantum felt unnecessary.
>"dude, let's make a series about a young up-coming Bond with tightly interconnected plots in each entry!">writer's strike happens>"dude, now he's a stinky old man who seems to have memories of being Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan, even though we were specifically not doing that">the politics of the late 2010's happens>"and now he's worse at his job than a black woman and dead, because fuck you"What an amazing era in this franchise's history.
>>215414039That happens with every big franchise. They change the tone to adjust to how the society is going at that point to please more people.
>>215412102Some people will go and watch them. Many other people have a strong aversion to gritty and serious Batman, especially those born in the 70s and earlier who were introduced to Batman by the Adam West series. For them, it's ultimately a story about a man in a Halloween costume who fights with a crazy clown. If you show them a Joker who present himself as an agent of chaos in a kind of cod-philosophical struggle with Batman, while ominous Han Zimmer music builds in the background, they dismiss that whole thing as pretentiousness.
>>215414172Think what you are saying...Do you think a studio is going to spend hundreds of millions of dollars to make a Batman movie for people born in the 70s and not for a larger audience like TDK?

>>215417785Sean Connery could have won a fight against 4 random dudes in a night club, that could have been possible. Maybe from the 4 dudes only 1 or 2 were really fighting and the other didn't know what to do so he knocked the first 1 fast, then fight the second one and the other didn't do much and run after the first hit. I have seen that many times. One guy that has a lot of experience in fighting can beat 4 random dudes that haven't had any fight in their life or maybe their last fight was a meme fight when they were 14.

>>215419015Which episode of Columbo is this?
>>215410884It's part of an overall filmmaking tendency of gritty "realistic" aesthetics + stupid unrealistic plots. Dark Knight is another example, where you have a boring Chicago Gotham plus a magical Joker who can get bombs into any place he wants on magically coordinated timelines. Same as in Skyfall with the mix of gritty Bond who hates his job and has no fun, and on the other hand you have Joker Silva who is running a Roger Moore Bond plot from the 1970s. I've always found this combination to be unappealing. I like cheesy movies that are self-aware about being cheesy, and I like gritty realistic-aesthetic movies that actually try hard to be realistic. But stuff like Skyfall is just the worst of both worlds, it has none of the fun of silly Bond, but it also isn't realistic.
>>215411303all the kids watching DC for their first james bond thought being black was moneypenny's defining characteristic
>>215410884Originally the James Bond movies was a "Total Recall"-experience for the blue collar guys back in the 60s britain, whom couldn't afford the luxury hotels, clothes, cars and booze, and never had seen/visited the exotic places. Sprinkle it with very hot babes and some sweet action (explosion, shootouts and car chases) and it was a recipe for a surefire hit. This concept could go on for about midway Roger Moore-era. Then the producers had to change it someway, so they made it more sillier, crazier. Pierce Brosnans aren't really the culminate but they're still follow the basic idea, adding improved special effects, mainly CGI as a main selling point.By 2006, action had become supernatural. You had The Matrix, Lord of the Rings, The Star Wars-prequels, PotC and all those. Blowing up a car, a factory, a house was old school. We've seen that and experience it before. Same with the clothes (no Bond-movie can ever rival My Fair Lady, Pride & Prejudice or any other fancy historic drama/musical). Cars?? Enter The Fast & The Furious. The locations had been fully explored, Bond had been everywhere, and we had travel channels for hotels and nature tv for natural locations. So that left booze and girls. Since the producer was a woman Craigs was forced to drink, a lot. And he drinks more for each movie.
He's ugly and that kind of ruins it.
>>215419548>Blowing up a car, a factory, a house was old school. The answer could be to move away from action. Dr. No is mostly a detective story and the car chase is a brief, cheap thing, given little short shrift. From Russia With Love is fairly slow-paced and its main action setpiece is two men fighting in a cramped train cabin. Goldmember has more action but it's still more about characters and amusing scenarios. It wasn't until Thunderball that Bond became a special effects show, and a lame one at that. We've being seeing sequels to Thunderball ever since. They should return to Dr. No.
>>215416451I thought Skyfall was good when it came out but I can see it's problems now. Still, it's better then Spectre and No Time To Day...
Nah it was fun, they’re all pretty fun… lots of callbacks to the previous Bonds. Stellar cinematography. I enjoyed all of them. Not the greatest films ever by any means but certainly up to the standard of Moonraker (which I also enjoy for what it is).
>>215419548>Pierce Brosnans aren't really the culminate but they're still follow the basic idea, adding improved special effects, mainly CGI as a main selling point.Brosnan's first three movies were still like 90% practical. The amount of cgi in Die Another Day was a huge contributing factor to why people hated it.

I hope he feels bad about it. James Bond is the kind of role that can really define your legacy. Even big stars with extensive careers like Pierce Brosnan or Sean Connery are thought first as James Bonds before any of their other roles. And all anyone will ever think of Daniel Craig for is Layer Cake and those boring Bond movies that nobody liked. Fuck Daniel Craig.

They should be completely based and make the new movies with the black woman agent of the last movie.
Yeah Craig should have left after Skyfall but even if he is not my favourite Bond he did ok in Casino Royale and Quantum. The things that bother me about Skyfall, Spectre and NTTD are more connected to the story and plot than with Craig and I wonder if a different Bond actor would have made up for it.
>>215411104Only Casino Royale is good, and even the diehard bond fags here agree it's the best craig movie. All starting to go downhill when he bitched more and put Sam Mendes as director.
