So this was a great movie and fixes literally every problem I had with the first Smile, but the series is going to get boring fast if the protagonist dies every time. It's especially depressing since the films being a metaphor for mental illness. Also, if they make a third movie, they better acknowledge the fact that Skye killing herself in front of the whole word is basically going to bring about apocalypse. If Smile 3 tries to ignore all that and focus on a single person again, I'm out.

yeah what i meant unlike the post i was replying to
it's the whole popstar context idea that is kind cool made and not the char itself

If this franchise follows the trajectory of other horror movies, they'll defeat the demon probably in the next movie.

Then somehow it'll get uploaded to the internet or something dumb like that. Cause eventually they get some dumb gimmick after the main monster is defeated.
>I heard about this analog horror series where you die after watching it!
>>
>>215420283
You will have to undergo extreme plastic surgery so that you look exactly like her husband.

I'm just glad to finally see Naomi in something good for a change. After Power Rangers, Aladdin, and Charlie's Angels, she was 0 for 3 and I was afraid I'd have to dislike her forever.
>>
>>215418571
Monster is too overpowered
>>
>>215424287
>Monster is actually competent in a genre where monsters usually just slap around protagonists instead of killing them because muh plot
>>
>>215424335
You're the kind of weirdo that pretends the cop from the first movie actually beat the monster and him immediately dying was just an OOPS ACCIDENT at face value, huh? No, genius, it was more fucking monster plot armor. Don't pretend the monster is smart, it's just that bad writing makes it invincible even when it shouldn't be.
>>
>>215424335
While a competent monster is a nice change of pace, the Entity in Smile 2 does kinda straddle the line between competent and OP. By the time Skye makes it to the Pizza Hut so Taub from House could help her die and get rid of the curse and THAT was all fake, it started to reach the point of going overboard and silly with the hallucination aspect. There's no tension if EVERYTHING is fake and the protagonist has absolutely no chance from the get go.
>>
>>215418571
The movie was shit, even shittier than the first. There is literally nothing good now compelling about it.
Are you zoomer? You had horrid taste.
>>
>>215424902
The cop never had a real chance either and was an even more egregious example.
>>
>>215418571
This is the problem with every horror movie now. Miserable nihilistic slop that hates the human spirit. Pointless perpetual suffering with no respite.
>>
>>215418571
I kind of wish they went all out with the detective trying to figure out a way to kill the monster. That opening scene was kino though.
>>
So what does the monster do if its victim dies in front of someone who's all cynical and dead inside, so they aren't traumatized by seeing someone die? Or someone on drugs or with some mental imbalance where they can't properly experience trauma?
>>
>>215420545
Mouph beauty mark.
>>
>>215418571
>smile 3
Lol
People saw the first one because it was new. They saw the second because it had Naomi Scott with a blond pixie cut. Why tf would anyone watch a third?
>>
>>215426398
Because they liked the first two? Because they're horror fans? Because they watch whatever movie they feel like at the time? Because they actively disliked the first two and hope the third one is better? Any number of reasons.

Nah the first one actually tried to be scary despite all it's flaws. Smile 2 is a comedy. Like just look at the stupid down the hall chase scene, you're saying you weren't laughing at how goofy it looked?
>>

Smile 2 is basically evil dead 2 to smile 1's evil dead
>>
>>215428167
>>215428228
wrong
Smile 1 was hilarious also.
Cringe-Kino like watching black people on news stations talking about random events.
>>
The problem with this movie is the lack of rules. If every scene can just be a hallucination, there's no tension at some point anymore.
>>
>>215418571
Best horror movie since Suicide Club. Really monumental, especially if you've ever had addiction problems.

When I started getting scared, I picked up a Voss water.
You can pick them up at any local grocery and many convenience stores
>>
>>215429258
Yeah, they were hammering home with the water so much I was sure there was going to be a payoff with it beyond "I drink water when I'm scared."
>>
>>215429672
Like I mentioned, the movie really hits hard if you've been an addict. You try every stupid little gimmick and mental exercise people sell you, but in the end your self hatred overrules it and you self destruct anyway, lol
>>
>>215418571
it was kind-off retarded to the point where you didnt know what was even real and what wasnt
>>
Considering these moves are metaphors for mental illness, they really need to have at least one movie where the protagonist wins. Having a whole series of "There's nothing you can do, give up, you're done for, resistance is futile" over and over is just... geez.
>>
>>215431036
Eh, if you've got a serious problem it's going to take a lot more than a movie to get you to turn things around. I actually appreciated how relentless this one was about being doomed and hopeless because I felt like "okay, somebody DOES understand what I've been going through," lol. It was cathartic and comforting. I'm on the wagon currently and it was by finding the right kind of help, this movie was just emotionally affirming.
>>
>>215418571
anyone who watches horror movies should be euthanized
>>
>>215418571
I reckon they'll go the prequel route. A third one following the same structure just won't have the impact. The dude who wrote / directed it seems to know what he's doing.
>>
>>215431075
Sure, portray it as a serious problem and that it'll be a hard battle, but to just leave it as "It's pointless, you're doomed, don't even try"... I dunno, it just doesn't exactly sound like the sort of thing someone who's suffering from such an ordeal needs to hear.
>>
>>215424971
not really. most horror movies the worst that can happen is you die. it's easy to imagine worse things than that. 10000 years of torture for example. almost no horror movies broach this kind of ending.

She atleast owes me a blowjob
>>
No, the movie was dogshit, the premise is retarded, the "it was all a hallucination... OR WAS IT" cliche was creatively bankrupt and most of the movie felt like an ad for an astroturfed top 40 album.
The only good scene in the movie which actually was pretty cool is when she's in her apartment and the monster is using people to create a mass of humans that follows her around. I actually thought that imagery was very original, creepy and entertaining.
>>
>>215419760
>>215420928
why's her stomach so weirdly fat here
not complaining just confused
>>
>>215431713
Maybe that was the real metaphor of Smile 2: Skye Riley knows that she really owes all of her loyal fans blowjobs (and cunnilingus) but she doesn't want to do it, and the Smile Entity really represents the conflict she faces.
>>
>>215431376
that's why I always thought the torture porn horror movies were in many ways worse than this type
>>
>>215432017

>>
I thought it was a pretty good film as the main character was interesting and kept me hooked until the end. But, really, the whole "It was just a dream, lol" twist took away a lot from the film and franchise in general. If the monster can just make people imagine everything that happened then it's going to be hard to care about what is happening in future films.
>>
>you watching my girls movie yt?

I must be the only one that thinks the sequel was shitty, forced slop. The first Smile was actually enjoyable to me because it felt believable and had a gritty, down to earth vibe to it. IMO they could have ended it after the first film but they felt like a sequel would do it justice and it didn't.
