People are always talking about timeless movies. Fuck that, I want to hear about what (You) think is a "timeful" movie, SAARS. A timeful movie is one that's aged so horrifically, because actors involved to the time period / setting and everything in between. It's a movie that could exist nowhere else but in the exact time frame it made and it's all the worse for it.

Russels Brands Arc has been interesting to me.

>saw him on Big Bother in my teens as a weird TV host type person
>Suddenly his a sex icon in the UK like The Libertines
>Becomes an annoying twat in the UK. Starts talking lefty politics and talks down to the lower class about their views and concerns on immigration.. he mainly hates the "capitalists"
>Goes to US becomes movie star there
>Arrogant and cocky as fuck in his movies
>gets off drugs

I watched St. Elmo's Fire tonight. Most of the behavior is just dumb early 20's idiocy and promiscuity, along with the obvious early 1980's sensibilities.
However, Kirby is a legitimate psycho. If you just watch his parts, it's like the start of a horror movie. When he went to her apartment after the mansion party I thought he had gone too far, but what he did after that would normally get a person's ass stomped.

You just have to compare this to how Margot's Harley from Sucide Squad was a 2016 Halloween slut icon with young women dressing up like her. I think Margot got an Academy Award nomination for I, Tonya just before this movie got greenlit and so she flexed her muscles by making this version of Harley more quirky and less slutty. She also hired some random no-name female director to helm the movie too since Margot decided to produce the movie. Harley Quinn is better when viewed through the male gaze. I mean, just look at how fucking obnoxious that title is; Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) -- only a woman would come up with that kind of contrived shit.

The Love Guru (2008), starring Mike Myers, Jessica Alba, and Justin Timberlake, followed Guru Pitka, a self-help spiritualist hired to fix the Toronto Maple Leafs. The film grew out of Hollywood’s brief fascination with celebrity gurus like Deepak Chopra, a friend of Myers who inspired the character. Originally meant to appear as Austin Powers’ guru, Pitka became the lead of a standalone movie that reflected Myers personal fixations with spirituality and hockey, an indulgence in creative control that ultimately sank the film.

Yeah, it's sort of a strange case. I thought the movie was alright, a bit corny, but not too different from any other movie. I guess it became fun to hate on it, but if you watch it again, it's not a bad movie at all. I would even go as far as to say it is partially disliked because it was not woke enough by today's standards, as in the examples you mentioned or that the cop abuser gets some sort of redemption. Crash has a clear message that people crash into each other, but if they were to pause and look closer, everyone would get along a little better. Or that we all have our prejudices and intolerances and faults of character that we need to deal with. As corny as it sounds, in today's world that's heresy, you are either "this side" or "that side", no complexity.

this was the standard type of reporting pre 9/11 in the 80s and 90s all over the world and especially the blackans and south america where it lasted up until the 00s, nothing was filtered, it was literal videodrome, gore nudity child pornography anything, the reporters and journalists were not just present they were actively involved in the "news" and downright causing the news like a chris morris skit

video rel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8GFRT5ar0M a greek journalist actively goading a prison runaway into killing himself and his hostages

"The Other Guys", "Blades of Glory", "Anchorman", "Talladega Knights". ALL 2010s movies because the humor and everything was intentionally transient to push the envelope of degeneracy further as fast as possible.

Makes me think all actors are cia agents. I mean they literally call them actors, like how they tell you they're "influencers" now. What's it called when people fail to see the forest for the trees? Despite being told something, it slides under your detection?

Because he's a rightwing grifter pushing deracinated judaic conspiracy or political perspectives? Yeah. Real cool. All actors are government actors. Remember that. Been that way for a few decades.

That's why they aren't talented or even good looking. They're literally drawing from a crowd of cia recruits and training them to push propaganda as movie stars, models and musicians. sometimes they retire one (publicly die so the guy can retire somewhere).

LOL (2006) is a very interesting movie from a societal perspective because it's about terminally online young people... in 2006, before the smartphone era, so they're all just sending 150-character text messages and making actual phone calls and using IRC. I really recommend it for being a time capsule.

Misdirection? I agree with what you said. Either actors are willing agents that sign ndas or the productions are cia fronts no doubt. A lot of films aren't also psyops for americans, they're actually made to chip away at the psyche of foreign nations bit by bit. China knows this which is why they screen everything. But i bet what gets through still has an effect if the movie is written well enough.

the book was an absurdly popular airport read. easy to read, very quick pace and makes the readers feel smart by name-dropping major historical landmarks and anything more complicated like Fibonacci sequences are carefully laid out in pictures and charts.

the movie is fine, its not the first book in the series so it leaves out the references to past events and characters. my problem is the events of the story dont actually lead to anything, just a big reveal that affects no one.

Based on a true story. The character, if I recall, wasn't actually homosexual. He gets beat up by homophobes when he talks about wearing women's shoes, but throughout the movie he keeps saying something, "I love dames" and Leslie Mann plays his neighbor and he awkwardly tries to hit on her. Anyway, it was a really weird, cringey Oscar bait, with jarring animated sequences.

"Awkwardly" is understating it. He plays with dolls that he makes. He has one that looks like himself. When he gets a new neighbor he has a crush on, he makes a doll that looks like her and has the two dolls fall in love. Cause he's processing trauma (he has the dolls go on adventures fighting the Nazis who represent the Neo-Nazis who put him in the hospital) and it's based on a true story, we're supposed to find it inspirational, I guess. But still kinda icky.

>NYC was seen as glamorous and journalism was considered noble
If by seen you mean pushed, that is
But yeah theres also the one about the chick who wants to be thirty and work at some fashion mag, no? I think it was called the girl who couldnt wait to be 30 to write on a fashion zine
And i guess theres other movies with those themes but thats what i can think of
But yeah the time period is what makes it special. Nowadays is i cant wait to work at some rag to push anti white rethoric, abortions and whatever else mr berg wants me to write

This movie aged well because it’s about the characters and not the specifics of the war itself. It could just as easily be about Nam. It’s too bad Renner decided to stop acting.

God this movie is so tryhard. I felt embarrassed watching it. The DVD came with a short film about the Eskimo she talks on the phone with and it’s maybe even more embarrassing.
