I did community service in a nursing home and there was this old guy named Dick that had dementia and he would ask me to turn the tv to Bonanza. I made a DVD of Bonanza episodes and he’d be watching and randomly yell “What is this shit I want BONANZA!”

Then there was an episode called ‘The Wish’ where a black kid steals a candle or something and Dick kept saying nigger so I made a DVD that showed that episode 10 times in a row and it’d make me giggle.

I wish his family hadn’t forced him to do all those shitty movies in the last few years of his career. You see them pop up every now again on TV or some streaming site and they’re just awful, he’s clearly not well and he barely knows where he is. The claim was that it was Bruce’s idea to do them, but I think it was his cunt daughters trying to squeeze a few more million out of their dad so they’ll never have to work a day in their lives.

the scary thing about dementia is that is I don't think I remember what is I mean if the brain is gone what is really there for doing the things that make you do because imagine forgetting everything that you wanted to be scary that you would just stop even thinking about what you are. If you are your thoughts then when your consciousness is formed by your thoughts and when they go you stop existing. Same as with a tree, that falls and no one hears it, would be the mind that has no one inside it... who is even at the wheel? What's scarier than dementia is maybe dementia itself...

I still think his family used him and then had to cover their asses, the timeline is very fucking suspicious. It was kind of an open secret in Hollywood for years, then RLM makes that "fake movie factory" video about him and A LOT of people in the comments of it and on reddit talk about their experiences on set and how he's been out of it for years now, IIRC people even dug up a comment from "why did Glass ending sucked" thread from some PA who said that Bruce couldn't remember people, barely talked and had to be escorted everywhere on set, which actually had weight because it was a legit production, not a Hungarian-set scam.

Then, like a month after the videos comes out and the topic gets brought up his family announces he has Aphasia which is "might develop into dementia later", then suddenly it progressed very fast, etc. Nah, the guy had full blown dementia FOR YEARS (Glass was shot in fucking 2018), you just used him for money, then had to pretend he was actually fine and it was his own idea, etc.
>>
>>215454722
It was also suspicious how his aphasia progressed into dementia so quickly
>>
>>215449495
>they never used the title Old Habits Die Hard

>>
>>215454722
This is most likely the case. If his family really loved him, they would've kept him out of the spotlight and not write books about their experience with Bruce's dementia. People generally don't expose their family member's medical issues so blatantly especially when they don't even have their consent.

The woman in this photo has FTD-ALS and went from pic related to screaming randomly and snatching food off of others' plates in under 12 months, to say nothing of forgetting who her parents and husband were as well as assaulting children when she's not stumbling over her own feet and falling constantly while trying to eat houseplants and curtains. She's also barely in her fifties. It is the most fucked-up thing I've ever seen.

You'd be surprised how quickly this shit takes you. Go look at FTD or ALS symptom progression videos on YouTube. People go from walking to wheelchairs on the space of months sometimes.

The only good thing about it is, you reach a threshold where you don't know you have it anymore and you're basically just reverted to some fucked up child like state.
The worst bit is when you know you have it and you actively experience the symptoms. It's fucking horrific.

Also, by the time you actually die, most family and friends will in a strange way feel relieved and don't really need to come to terms with the death. They knew it was coming.
That's at least how I've seen people I know lose family members with dementia. It's just fucked up all around

Is there anything scarier than dementia?

if i were to be a person who has dementia is a person that has dementia is impossible to remember what that has had happened to you, so in a sense of what's happening around you try and try you try and but what happens is that at the end of the day, if there's ever, anything at all would make you think that maybe you would have a future, but even if I did have one myself, then what is it that's stopping me from trying to remember?

maybe remembering is what's to us people as flying is to a fly? has there ever been someone who couldn't even try to be what I'm trying to accomplish wheverer he wanted it or not, is to remember, or at least to try and imagine a world where in whatever happens to you happens to the person you love the most, and that is frightening, isn't it?

Just imagine being thought of as someone important, and somebody mentions that tragically you have dementia... You were an actor, you think? but whoever says that looks like it could be your daughter, or so she says, and you are just a normal person, and you're not acting, so if you're you and she is she, then who am I? if whoever is reading this doesn't need to think that maybe whatever happened to me would be something that it would be so thrilling and frightening at the same time, just as life itself, that there would not even be a chance that the thing itself would manifest as in so far as to say that what you wanted to say is not even there anymore. Like the thought of the idea maybe was there at some point but the words got lost. As if you were trying to string together a piece of a piece of. something old and stale. Has it ever happened to you?

I feel like sleeping. goodnight

My dad got diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer couple months ago. Had no symptoms. Took a small fall and bruised his spine. Went for xrays cause soreness didnt go away. Found 5 secondary tumors on his bones. Month later he's using a walker to get around. Cant go further than the driveway. Cancelled all his camping trips for the rest of the year. Given 2-3 years.
