Why did they choose to score the intro of their edgy scifi/cyberpunk/psychological horror anime with an English soft rock song?
>>
I forget but you can go read about that
>>
a lot of anime music was just whatever western shit the director liked and had the rights to use back then, it usually isn't any deeper than that

is that you didn't put your grasses on yet anon?
>>
>>215449512
Its sort of like Yuyu Hakusho where the music itself doesn't fit the series but the lyrics kind of do.
>>
>>215449720
never heard of that, but I wish yoshitoshi abe had done more stuff
>>
I don't believe there are 30+ year olds posting like this, so why are zoomers watching Lain?
>>
>>215449512
They grunged the fuck out of everything back in the 90's
>>
>>215450148
because lain is a good anime
>>
>>215450572
the best anime, some could say

a shame OP seemed an honest man

also GTO had a better opening

Lain is a good anime, which is something Zoomers don't like. So his question stands.
>>
are we talking about "The Light Before We Land" by The Delgados?
>>
>>215450977
idk some faggot zoomer youtubers made a video essay about it or something
>>
>>215449512
As long as it's sung by a Japanese woman, it's a nip song.
>>
>>215451048
It's just weird, it's been one of my favorite anime since 2001 and now suddenly a bunch of zoomer troons became obsessed with it in the last few years.

>Well-regarded Japanese auteur screams RAAA EEE AAAHH out of nowhere.

Not at all uncommon in late 90s/early 2000s anime. Hell Evangelion famously ended with smooth 1950s American jazz
>>
You know you're watching KINO when the opening has real-life footage in it:

I'm 24 and I like it. I don't know what to tell you other than I just have good tastes. I also like Steins;Gate
>>
>>215449512
I never thought of it as not matching, feels like something Lain would listen to.

Have you tried asking them?

I dunno about better, but certainly underappreciated.

GTO as a whole is underrated. At least it hasn't gotten recognized so much in recent years. I forget if I or my roommate had a bootleg poster we got in Chinatown of it up in our dorm. I think it was this image from the first volume. I know he was really into the series.

I have the Japanese CD single of the opening song atop my desk next to a custom Lain lamp. Plus I got an old figure and the full Boa album too.
I also have the other Lain albums, but those are HK bootlegs I got in college.

The op and the score for the series was by Susumu Hirasawa, who did the series music for Berserk (though not the OP and ED). He also did the score for a bunch of Kon's films. I love Paprika's OST and have had it on my phone / mobile player for years.
>>
>>215449512
>Hear the lain intro at work one day in the mining industry.
That was pretty random. I usually only hear electronic pop and nigger shit in that area.
>>
>>215451510
Fry me to zah moon
>>
Every anime should have British music for the OP and EDs.
>>
>>215449512
I remember this OP playing in the background while I was a kid playing with my fake laptop and building bionicles, shit was awesome. It was simply pristine kino.
