I saw it and it's great. The pool scene is probably one of the most romantic sequences I've seen in years. But it was really strange they chose not to draw Reze with nipples. You see her completely nude anyway, and it's a movie, not a tv show. So why omit them? Also, they kind of ruined the big twist by undercutting the scene with a shot of a spider eating a moth.The big fight scene at the end was pretty cool too. Reminded me of Man of Steel or Advent Children. Very over the top crazy anime physics.A lot of artistry went into the film. It didn't feel like an American "we need an action sequence every 20 minutes," or "we need to constantly remind audiences that Denji's physical attraction to women is EVIL AND TOXIC MASCULINITY." There was a little too much rotoscoping but it wasn't too egregious. My main complaint is that Power wasn't in the film enough. She was just in the opening credits and the final five minutes.
>>215454523It's definitely better than a 7. I don't think very highly of Chainsaw Man, it's just a goofy action comedy, kind of like Cowboy Bebop but with more of a supernatural edge. But compared to the other films of 2025 I've seen this one is leagues better. Just the summer festival date scene has more going on in its editing than other 2025 films. They put season 2 on hold for over a year for this and it doesn't disappoint.
If all critics give a movie 6/10, that's a 100% on rotten tomatoes.
