South Park already ended 14 years ago in season 15, episode 7. That episode felt like Matt and Trey telling the audience "Goodbye, it's going to be all about the money from now on". Like when Seth killed Brian in Family Guy. It's how writers insert their own endings in a series that cannot end yet for finacial and legal reasons.
