Was Howard the main Character the whole time?
No the whole point of that character is he’s the ultimate NPC who accidentally into the main characters’ story
Spook street!!!!!
>>215455358It was the character to distract you from the fact that the only real piece of shit has always been Jimmy
Howard is Chuck without Chuck's flaws and no Jimmy as a brother. He is the successful version of the Chuckian archetype: A divorced high honor lawyer. His character is meant to show that even in an optimal scenario the Jimmyan archetype will always overpower the Chuck, think paper beats rock. The Jimmyan and the Chuckian spirits are connected to each other through their differing relationship to the Kim: Chuckian = detached, professional, Jimmyan = close, lustful. In the Gilliganian world where the primordially prone to act and emotional type of soul is given more virility and power, the defeat of the Chuckian Howard Hamlin was clear from the start. This is to say that Howard served as a reflection of one of the two main characters/archetypes of the show's universe.
>>215455527Howard was also a piece of shit though. They gave him a slight redemption arc near the end so you'd have a more emotional response to his death, and that was enough to make midwits forget the smarmy insidious personality he had all the way up to that point.
>>215456025Why was he a piece of shit? He was a smug nepobaby, sure, but he didn't do anything even close to what Jimmy did.
>>215456025He was a piece of shit? He was a literal saint. Jimmyfags are insane
>>215455358Yes, that's why he died halfway through the show.
>>215455358Howard was essentially the BCS version of Hank: both characters start as douchebags then have redemption arcs and when we finally like them they get killed off in a horrible way.
>>215456359Demoted Kim and tried to sabotage her career out of personal vendetta.Casually patronises and belittles people while maintaining a "nice guy" facade.Turned a blind eye or actively participated in Chuck's mistreatment of Jimmy.Tried to scam Jimmy out of the Sandpiper case, offering him a tiny finder's fee and trying to gaslight Jimmy into thinking the case was beyond his abilities. Tried to prolong the Sandpiper case to maximise the claim and HHM's cut to the detriment of the clients, many of whom wouldn't live long enough to see the money.
>>215456379>literal saint He deliberately fucked over the elderly Sandpiper clients to maximise his firms' revenue. You just have a short attention span and were easily manipulated by the writing of the last season where they needed to make him sympathetic for the final payoff.>Jimmy was worseNo shit. That's the point of the show.
>>215456433>Hank starts off as a douchebag, but then has a redemption arc when he decides to ruin the lives of his extended family for no reason
>>215456475>Demoted Kim and tried to sabotage her career out of personal vendetta.Kim almost fucked everyone by going along with Jimmy.Howard also spoke very highly of her, and HHM paid for her education. Getting shoved into the basement for a while was lenient for what she was doing.>Casually patronises and belittles people while maintaining a "nice guy" facade.Yeah he is a rich nepobaby lawyer, can't argue with that. >Turned a blind eye or actively participated in Chuck's mistreatment of Jimmy. He was stuck between a rock and a hard place on this one, since Chuck is his business partner but also someone who he deeply respects. Taking the hit for Chuck wasn't the right thing to do, but he probably thought he was helping two brothers maintain a relationship. >Tried to scam Jimmy out of the Sandpiper case, offering him a tiny finder's fee and trying to gaslight Jimmy into thinking the case was beyond his abilities. That is business, but Chuck also didn't want Jimmy working at HHM so it might've been Chuck behind the scenes once again. >Tried to prolong the Sandpiper case to maximise the claim and HHM's cut to the detriment of the clients, many of whom wouldn't live long enough to see the money.Yes that is a really shitty thing, but it is also exactly what big law firms do.I'm not saying Howard was a flawless, perfect human being who is innocent in everything, but at worst he is a smug, rich prick who looks down at others. He also tried to change his ways after Chuck died, and he seemed genuine about it.
Jimmy and Kim were unhinged in the last season. The amount of mental gymnastics required to make Howard out to be some big villain. Howard never fucked with Jimmy or Kim at any point of the entire show. He was actually very patient with them antagonizing him for no reason. He extended several olive branches even.>Kim associate lost a big clientYeah she was temporarily put in the doghouse, she didn't get fired or demoted.>Tried to get Mesa Verde back after Jimmy sabotaged them.He conceded and held no grudge that she took a XL client and ran off.>Chuck asked him and a P.I to witness Jimmy being retarded criminalThe setup was Chuck's idea, Jimmy did that to himself.
>>215457377>Jimmy and Kim were unhinged in the last season.Obviously but why do "Howard was a good guy" anons think this negates the fact that he was also a piece of shit?
