...there was a live-action Discworld adaptation?
>>215458484Who cares? It's all putrid liberal slop for retards.
Jesus rose from the dead as it was written he would. He will return and you WILL be judged. This is no fantasy my friend. Repent now for the kingdom is near.
>>215458484there were 3 and another 3 animated ones.soul music was pretty good

>>215458446That's correct. Fantasy inspires and drives us. Just think how long people looked at the sky and stars while sitting there fantasizing about the day when people would go there. Being able to see the complex buildings before a single stone was put in place is what drove the Renaissance architecture.
I fucking love Discworld
Should be in all caps
>>215458446Discworld is one of the most Reddit things that ever reddited. Still, a few of the books were good despite this handicap.

>>215459205>>215458539>>215458473what the fuck is so bad about it then? what is the reddit liberal wokeslop you keep mentioning?
>>215459244>>215459317>>215459320No, they're right. The books are amusing and make fun, light reads, but Terry Pratchett was a typical Guardianista faggot and it seems into his writing more often than not.
>>215459378got any examples?
>>215459437He doesn't have any, anon. We are at the point where messages like "be kind to your fellow man" are "woke" apparently because Amerilard politics have fried the reasoning centers of most Republicans now, you know, due to their president for life being a pedo felon and them unable to grapple with it, so it's full on schizo breakdown mode until he dies
it’s incredible to me how little criticism there is about these books and their sloppy writing. Also the infinite glazing of Terry Pratchett, his legion of fans idolize him as a sort of god (Sir Pterry). I don’t consider myself a snobby reader, and I can enjoy silliness and whimsy in a book, but of the several Pratchett books I’ve read none of them have landed. The humor isn’t very funny and the characters and plot lines are all extremely one-note and forgettable. Is the humor just written for a 1990s sensibility and now feels dated? Were his plot lines so hackneyed that they only seem cliched now because they’ve been copied to death? I don’t know the answers to these questions but I don’t think the books have aged well.Any honest criticism of his writing is met with “you just haven’t read the right ones yet!” Ok, well I wouldn’t eat a tub of shit to get at the one good morsel inside of it, so why would I read a bunch of crappy books to get to a couple of chuckleworthy quips? Also, it seems like any criticism of his writing is met with “but he was a really good guy, he loved his fans!” which is a non-sequitur and no actual defense of the writing, which imo is objectively weak.Look, I get that everyone has their beloved books from childhood that enchanted them at the time, and that’s totally fine, but these books still get treated as though they’re some kind of peak achievement in fiction writing when they’re basically mid-tier (at best) YA slop. Whatever, read whatever you enjoy and makes you happy, it’s just funny how you can’t even criticize the books without a legion of Disney adults descending on you and telling you you’re wrong for not enjoying them.
>>215458446reddit the writer
>>215460049Didn't read, you sound upset.
>>215459715It's not Amerilards, it's brownoids. Although nowadays the two are hard to distinguish.
Reddit in book form. His stories are just a vehicle for showing off how heckin’ random and witty he is. The most baffling thing about the Pratchett worship is how fervently his fans defend his shit writing. If eating mcdonalds is your guilty pleasure, go for it, but Pratchett’s army of knob gobblers behave as though like you just punched their grandma if you dare call it childish. You can tell what the average reader is like when you see how many of his fans take umbrage at his “fatphobia” for portraying fatties as they are (honestly, this makes me like TP a bit more). And the other half of his readership are trannies, picrel.Another observation I’ve made is how many of the discussions about his books include phrases like “just keep going until you get to the good ones” and “stick it through to the end, I promise it gets better.” It’s like reading his books is painful and tedious for everyone but there’s some kind of stockholm syndrome going on where if you just spend enough time wading through the muck eventually you’ll view it as rewarding. Total cult mentality around these books.I decided to start with Guards! Guards! as all the Terryites told me it was one of the strongest of all the discworld books, but I was shocked at how bad it was. The writing quality was on par with what I’d expect from amateurish fan fiction written by a teenager, although I would hazard a guess that “autistic tranny teenager” is where most Terryites stopped their mental development so it tracks that they love this series. It boggles the mind that this guy is as worshipped as he is and was even given a knighthood for it

He certainly understood the dwarf motif, and even came close to hitting the nail on the head with the deep downers literally undermining the city.
