I don't get it.
Stop posting you worthless faggot. Your game is over.
>>215476934This is one of my favourite movies. I'm pretty sure the ending means it was all just a dream he was having while he was dying in the jungle, but some people say the ending is also part of the dream, so I don't know. The part I don't get is how it cost them $25 million to make though, there's not many actors and basically no special effects other than a few simple practical effects.
>>215477021>basically no special effectsdancefloor tentacle rape scene of his gf was probably expensive to make
>>215476934so the vietcong are a ladder....but actually the us government is a ladder....get it?
>>215476934He was fighting for his life but found it easier to let go and die
It's Joever.
>>215477021I interpreted it more as his soul getting purified through purgatory. I mean the doctor says as much, that demons are cleansing the soul by eating away your bodily memories and that once you release that it's easy to let go

>>215477021>The part I don't get is how it cost them $25 milliont. Doesn't understand Hollywood accounting
>>215476934Are you retarded? The movie and the title spell it out pretty clearly.
>>215476934How was Tim Robbins even an actor, he looks like an overgrown baby.
>>215477038>Forgetting this movie has an amazing tentacle rape scene and only remembering the shady hospital stuff Pray for me anons
>>215477408no i get that, mostly. But for example Robocop 2 had the same budget of $25 million.
>>215476934The only scenes that took place in the “real world” was the beginning and end, the rest was purgatory. They spell it out very clearly in the scene with the Eckhart quote.

Plot (Succinctly)>Jacob Singer is a Vietnam veteran. During a sudden, chaotic attack in the war, he is badly wounded. The rest of the movie appears to follow his life afterward in New York: working at the post office, living with his girlfriend, and being tormented by frightening visions and distorted figures. He tries to uncover whether his unit was exposed to a secret combat drug.>At the very end, it is revealed that Jacob never survived Vietnam. Everything after the battlefield injury is his mind struggling with death — a spiritual “limbo” where he must let go of his earthly life, guilt, and grief over his son’s death. When he finally accepts his situation, he sees his son again and peacefully “ascends.”What Was Real?Real:>Vietnam scenes>Jacob being stabbed and dying in 1971>His son Gabe having died earlier in his real lifeNot physically real:>All New York scenes>The conspiracy investigation>The demons, visions, and shifting reality>These are symbols of his struggle to accept death.Simple takeaway:>Jacob’s Ladder is about a man dying in war. Everything strange is his soul working through fear and regret before he can take that final step toward Heaven.>A somber story — but with a hopeful, reverent ending.ChatGPT can make mistakes. >>215477289ifs 100% this. he’s shedding what he needs to from life to be able to pass on to the next plane. the chiropractor is literally an angel helping him do this
Imagine dying in Vietnam instead of avoiding the draft and fucking soldiers wives
Jacob gets mortally wounded in Vietnam. As he dies he enters a sort of purgatory (although more accurately the director has said he based it on the Tibetan Buddhist concept of bardo). All the demons are manifestations of him still clinging to attachments of his earthly life, like his wife and kid. The scene with the chiropractor explains quite explicitly. Eventually Jacob manages to let go of these attachments and thus manages to move on from this in between death state and goes to heaven proper.
