I thought it was alright, great concepts with subpar execution, definitively over hated.
I hope it doesn't get a second season. Awful execution. It even made me like the David movies a bit more.
>>215480077I agree. Kinda peaks with the flashback episode and the ending is weak. But a season 2 could fix some of the issues I had with it. Looked better than I expected an Alien tv series would.
It just got worse the longer it went. That finale is the biggest piece of dogshit
>>215480077It was decent until the last couple of episodes. Damn shame.
>>215480108>flashback episodeThat was indeed top-tier. No complaints. I highly recommend any alien fan to watch at least that.
>>215480161Nah, that was garbage. Your time is much better spent with Alien Isolation. Something respectful of Alien and actually scary
There was a fair amount of stupid shit in it but I do actually find the characters interesting and the show was pretty entertaining. One main oddity is how it feels like an android show that they decided to shove into the Alien universe. Of course there were androids in the movies but the show hyperfocuses on that element of the lore. There are plenty of creature feature moments although ironically the xenomorph itself feels like an afterthought in terms of actual screentime, even if a major plot thread of the season revolves around it. Either way I will probably watch the second season so they did something right I suppose.
>>215480077I rewatched Fallout and it was baffling how much better the props and sets looked like with 100mil less spend
>>215480077First two episodes were promising, but then it proceeded to drop off a 10,000 foot cliff hurling 500MPH toward the ground. Fuck this show and anyone involved with it. Absolutely atrocious on every level.
>>215480077with the emphasis on subpar execution
>>215480077>over hated.it's not hated enough.
>>215480423>One main oddity is how it feels like an android show that they decided to shove into the Alien universe. That's Ridley's contribution. Any Alien media he touches will have that same aspect to it.
It felt more like a Blade Runner type story than Alien, desu, but I liked it.
>>215480423Modern Alien materials definitively do care a lot about androids for some reason
>>215480077>great conceptssuch as?
>>215481201It's literally because Ridley blocks anything else from getting made. He block Blomkamp's movie which would have only had one android as normal. Ridley doesn't understand games so he couldn't block Alien Isolation that also only had one "human-like" android.
>>215481228Having children uploaded into adult robots, exploring other alien species, inter-corpo conflict, all sound very interesting to me.
>>215480077It just got worse as it went on, the set up was cool but then like most shows it got stuck in one location and meanderingly wasted all of it's plot set-ups
Gave up 3 episodes in. I genuinely wanted to like it.
>>215481933>great concepts>what if we hired adults and had them act like retarded children with super strength?lol>having anything on screen that's an alien besides a xeno is a great conceptyeah nobody could've come up with that. Not like that's ever happened before in the franchise. Oh, wait.>inter-corpo conflictyes, corporate warfare. an amazing concept that's totally never been explored in any Alien fiction. Oh, wait.
>>215482174According to your logic there shouldn't have been any other Alien movie outside of the first, because we've already seen a xenomorph kill people in space, so why do you care about the "franchise" at all
>>215482418When did I say those topics shouldn't be explored, dumbass? I was pointing out that they aren't great concepts. They are obvious and basic and they've been done numerous times.
>>215482602>They are obvious and basic and they've been done numerous times.Like an alien killing humans in a space station? Yawn!
>>215481933>Having children uploaded into adult robotsStupid and not appropriate for the Alien series. Androids are robots and are programmed as such. There is never any "uploading" nor brain scans of people.>exploring other alien speciesNot appropriate for the Alien series. The main interesting thing about Alien was that there had never before been any extraterrestrial life discovered. Humans spread out into the stars and started making colonies. It's empty out there, which is fine. They thought if they ever did meet an alien, it would be friendly like ET or Star Trek. But it was hostile. If it's suddenly just one of dozens of also hostile aliens, and also the least intelligent of them just being essentially a parasitic tiger, it loses everything interesting about it.>inter-corpo conflictYes, that is interesting. It only took half a century for them to finally catch on to that aspect of the lore. But they did it in a terrible way. Kavalier was terrible and uninteresting to watch. Nothing about their depicting of future Earth was interesting nor could it be taken seriously. It was done way better in the comics and games already.
>>215482673But would you describe something that basic as a great concept? no.
>>215480077>RAPEJEET YOU NEED TO GUARD LE OMELET :^)>* 90's alt rock starts playing*Who was this shit even made for?
>>215482770>he fell to the coin toss
>>215480077If anything it wasn't hated enough, the only decent thing about it was set design and even that was bland.
Why'd they have to make her so heckin' cute, fellas?
