On a scale from 1 to 2 how much do we like stephen king adaptations?
>>215480103the more he's involved in them the worse they get
I'd rather watch the view
>>215480504This is a BLUE board, you sick fuck!
>>215480103Objectively bad but god damn are they kino.
>>215480970Except Storm of the Century 1999. The ending still makes me sad when I think about it. The way Mike describes his current life and how he wakes up at night wanting to scream is fucking heart wrenching.
>>21548010390s Kino of the highest caliber. Gary Sinise carried this whole fucking thing
>>215480103Mostly bad. Both adaptations of The Stand are halfbad in different ways.
geralds game had a weak ending
Is maximum overdrive worth watching?
Graveyard Shift is underrated.
>>215481171I liked most of it, except lisa simpson is in it. the lady who can only do one voice and is a bitch her entire life is in the movie
>>215480103The only thing I remember from that film are the tits
>>215480103I will never get bored of his seething about Kubrick making The Shining a genuine work of art and one of the best overall movies of the 20th century, and when he was given total creative control of a movie, he could only produce straight to video tier garbage.
I generally enjoy them more than the book they're adapting. Mostly because it's a shorter experience.
Best King novels were planned, not seat of the pants writing. But only one was ever adapted and they changed a lot. The Dead Zone. I kind of liked the DZ tv show too.I'm still waiting for a Rose Madder adaptation. You would think that with the subject matter (battered woman runs away from psycho slasher cop husband) Hollywood would throw themselves on it. But they would ruin it. Only way I see any new King not being ruined is if a small studio does a new anthology movie using his short stories. But Zoombies hate King. Millennials hate their parent who loved King.
Castle Rock was pretty cool but I get it mixed up with Dark sometimes
>>215480103I'm not a big fan of his writing style, I find it crass.
Best one is the 80s running man cause its not like the book and the dude from family feud nails it
>>215480103Storm of the Century is my favorite king kino and still holds up. his Shining was the first one I saw so I'm one of the few who prefers it to the kubrik version. I liked The Stand when I was younger but haven't seen it in years so I don't know how it holds up and I never checked out the remake for it. Honorable mention is Maximum Overdrive which isn't scary at all but is incredibly fun. everything else I can think of right now are all meh at best.
>>2154801031And that's a good thing!
>>2154801031.7.
All the best ones betray King's texts because he's trash but good at premises. And he's now a crazy baby with an embarrassing case of TDS.
I’m a fan. They’re a bit of an American tradition. I enjoyed the book Carrie but from what I understand he seems like a shlocky writer but I think his stories work well for the screen. They run the gamut in quality (from Shawshank to maximum overdrive) but they are written well enough that filmmakers are better off with a King based script than their own trash. I enjoy a lot of the made-for-tv ones because, like I said, the stories are just creative enough to boost a low budget project. Langoliers is an example. Low budget shit but honestly keeps things interesting. Also the stand miniseries was a fun miniseries. So many different people take a crack at King stories like Kubrick or John Carpenter that he deserves a place in cinema history as a prolific inspiration.
>>215481200yeah it's fun
√(-1)
>>215483773He has cool ideas but the actual writing is high school level.
>>2154801032
They're mostly bad. When I think of Stephen King's adaptations I have in mind a shitty TV movie. Seems like most of them are exactly that. The best ones are probably Shining and Carrie. But those were actual good movies made by auteur directors.
>>215483773It was really funny to see him have a meltdown over likening the Epstein list to the tooth fairy and all the replies were pointing out he wrote literal pedo shit in IT

>>215480103>stephen king adaptationsI dont have a barometer to go against as I have never read any of his books but despite him often having weak endings I like most of his adaptations.TV series IT is great, nu IT kids part is goodOG stand was great, nu stand was good production value and ending (rnically) but messed up by a non linear plot.Storm of the century is pure KINO, not even an adaptation either and made by king. While I am not a huge fan on the shinning, I really like doctor sleep, except the ending it drops off as they try to get it to fit kubricks movie.
>>215480999>Except Storm of the Century 1999What you are saying it is NOT kino? Also checkedSotC is pure KINO
>>215484126not him but Misery is cool
>>215484277lost interest because 616 is the actual number of conern
Silver Bullet is a fun watch. Gary Busey carries the movie.
