Primarily because the first 2 trials were extremely rushed. In the books there was descriptions of the other contestants in their challenges as well as well as not showing the quidditch world cup.

Personally though, book 5 or 6 would have to be my favorite, followed by 3 and then maybe 4.

Not having Draco be a quite girl whose hatred of Harry stems from an unrequited crush due to their awkward first meeting at Diagon Alley and they inevitably wind up together in book 6 and Draconia is their plant within Hogwarts and convinces the Slytherins to unite with the rest of the houses is such an obvious and kino way to have told their story. FFS the bathroom fight in HBP basically reads like an angey fuck session, and having Slytherin join the other houses would've made way more sense for Rowlings whole message of "standing unified against muh tyrants".

serious? the dragon chase was a great change from the book where nothing cool whatsoever happens during any of the trials.

Other than Michael Gambon I think Goblet could’ve been good if it was an extra 30 minutes longer so the pacing could breathe. It was closer to the Potter style than the fat beanslop Azkaban.

Instead of having to invite the Poojeeta twins to the Yule Ball Ron convinces Harry to invite Draconia and Pansy (played by teenaged Genevive Gaunt) because going with Slytherins would really rile Hermoine up and everyone complains about it with Draconia reluctantly agrees and Hermoine's stair scene is brutally mogged when the much cuter Draconia shows up in her glow up dress and she and Harry actually hit it off pretty hard but just before they kiss on the dancefloor Hermoine has a crash out after Ron starts making out with Pansy and the three girls get in a catfight with Draconia's cute dress getting torn up and Snape has to stop her from using Crucio on Hermoine.

3 is the best movie even with it's flaws. It just takes all the good things of 1 and 2, the atmosphere, the wonder, the magical world, and mixes it with just enough dark elements to add intrigue but without going full glum and dark like the final ones.
