Oh wow, I can't wait to find out if the Jedi can solve the taxation of trade routes to outlying star systems haha
>>215485935>StarSlopgrow up
>>215486334i feel like taxation of trade routes is pretty grown up
>taxation of trade routesORANGE MAN BAD!
>>215485935Watch the Clone Wars series first and the prequels will have a lot more depth to them. The real Clone Wars series not that shortlived ugly cartoon show with the same name.
>>215486439>dude just basedface at ten seasons of a kids cartoon that vaguely gestures at mature topics>definitely don't watch the coolest action seasons of the whole franchise made by one of the greatest animators of all time haha
>>215486403the nemoidians were obvs chinks so they would be butthurt about it
i like the phantom menace
>>215486334Will you defer your motion to allow a commission to explore the validity of your accusations?
I just realizedMara Jade, Jacen Solo, Jaina solo etc etc, were they just erased from existence by disney?
>>215486600yes, and that's a good thing.Do you sincerely want disney touching any of them?
>>215485935So what do you want a Guardians of the Galaxy type movie with dancing and jokes? It's only some scenes of how Palpatine took power in the senate, nothing more. It was needed to tell the story.
Was it neccesary a trilogy to tell how Anakin became Dart Vader and Palpatine The Emperor? Probably not, but compared to the sequels that the plot is basically defeating The Emperor again, they add more to the story.
>>215485935
>>215486600None of them were ever canon in the first place.
>>215486521I watched it again a few days ago. It's a very nice-looking film, I must give it that. What's both good and frustrating is that it contains small moments that recapture the energy of classic Star Wars, like the scene where Maul lands his cool Sith ship on Tatooine at dusk and then sends out his two probe droids. With well-judged visual and sound design, the scene hits the right notes, creates the right atmosphere. It helps that there's no dialogue and we're being given a short break from George's dreadful script. But once that's done with, we're immediately back to the adventures of Jar Jar and Little Annie.
>>215486692So you wanted a darker movie. In the old movies we have Luke, Leia and Han Solo all the time arguing and all those goofy scenes. We have Ewoks too. Star Wars was always a mix of all those things, it has adventure funny scenes, then darker cool scenes, etc. And Lucas added some little politics in the prequels.
>>215486688Yes they are, George Lucas approved
>waaaah george lucas raped my childhood
>>215486600>Mara Jade
>>215486654>>215486845They look like that.
>>215486843He "approved" them existing in a non-canonical parallel universe, yeah. They were never canon to *real* Star Wars, George Lucas's Star Wars. Which means they were never canon to begin with. Luke doesn't get married, sorry bro.
>>215486911listen up George, Luke marrying Mara Jade means that shitshow that is disneywars never happened, and that's the canon I'm going with
TCW was a bit shit to be honest
>George "Star Wars is for Children" Lucas. What the fuck was his problem?.
>>215486911>*real* Star Wars>Luke is useless>somehow, Palpatine returned*real* Star Wars is a joke.
>>215486952Cool. But it's as "canonical" as disneywars, lol. It's always either one fanfiction or the other with you. Always this false choice fallacy. Smart people choose neither.
>>215487023No one said that. You resort to false choice fallacy, again.
>>215487068>>215487031Lucas sold the rights, anon. You are choosing to ignore that yourself.
>>215486839There are no kids in the original trilogy, not even as minor characters. The Ewoks do resemble Jar Jar and could be seen as his cinematic ancestors, paving the way for his arrival, but I've never liked the Ewoks much either. The reason ROTJ almost gets away with having Ewoks is that it draws a line of separation around them. Ewoks don't show up in Jabba's Palace or the Emperor's throne room and alter the tone with their presence. George forgot this principle when he was writing Jar Jar into almost every scene of TPM. Thankfully the lightsaber duel was allowed to proceed without a big spoonful of Binksian comic relief, but almost everything else got it.
>>215487100Yeah, and I choose to stick to real Star Wars, George Lucas's Star Wars. Anything else, factually speaking, is pointless fanfiction and isn't Star Wars.
>>215486692Yeah, Jar Jar and Anakin are the two major problems in the film that keep it from actually being a great film. There's so much to love about the film, but it's all undercut by Jar Jars antics and the fact that Jake Lloyd wasn't a very good actor. If they got rid of or at least severely reduced Jar Jar's role and made Anakin slightly older, like the same age as Padme, I think it would have fixed almost every issue that people have with the films.
>>215487157If Lucas cared about George Lucas's Star Wars he would have never sold Star Wars. You choose your own canon, anon, but you need to know George doesn't care for star wars.
>>215487284That makes sense. They thought about making Anakin older but I think it was Lucas idea to make him younger because it was more emotional o take a little kid from his mother.
>>215485935Lucas is a fucking retard and a hack.
>>215487402>>215487334why did he sell it anywaylike did he have some trillions in debt or what
>>215485935you're complaining about a single sentence that sets up the story. can you not read fast? is that the problem?
>>215487381I can understand that, but the whole "He's too old to become a jedi" thing, and the early romance elements with Padme don't work with a younger Anakin
>It is a period of civil war.yawn. if i wanted history, i'd just READ HISTORY.
>>215487334Cool. The fact remains, though: there is George Lucas' Star Wars, the real Star Wars made by its original creator, and then there is everything else, which is a bunch of awful irrelevant fanfiction for obsessive, autistic manchildren, that has nothing in common with artistry, integrity, and exists for the sole purpose of whoring out the IP. This will be true no matter who owns the IP and what happens to it in the future. It is not that hard to comprehend, my dude.>>215487432Wanted to retire for a long time and spend some time with his family. He was 70 at the time. Got his first newborn with his new wife. Also wanted to secure the company in a larger entity, given that from his perspective, Disney were good with Pixar - another company that Lucas had created. They were business partners for a long time, Star Wars was at Disney parks since 1987 with Star Tours. He was supposed to be a creative consultant at Lucasfilm, and they misled him into believing that his sequel treatments would be used. They duped him. It's as simple as that. They groomed him into selling, made him believe that all would be well, smooth and respectful, and then basically told him to fuck off.
>>215486439
A guy in a dark cloak and an evil voice holos you and tells you to attack a republic planet and that "it'll be good for you trust me". Wyd?
Since the Emperor dissolved the Imperial Senate, how can the regional governors maintain control without the bureaucracy?!It's like we expect children to understand words or something, OP.
>>215487623But why did Disney choose to betray George and then shoot themselves in both feet and the dick?
>>215487723it's not about the moneyit's about sending a message
>>215487668>Jack, you need to attack the Republican planet.
>>215487695The politics scenes were necessary to explain how Senator Palpatine from Naboo became the The Emperor. And they were just a few scenes.
>>215487695>>215487797The Emperor of the First Galactic Empire.
>>215487723Because they wanted to play it safe. They were not interested in telling a story, there was no artistry or integrity involved in their decision making, they were interested in making their 4 billion dollars back. Iger and Lucas both spoke about this in detail over the years. "They wanted to do a retro movie, to make something for the fans", which is what The Force Awakens was. But Star Wars fans are largely imbeciles. They got what they deserved.
>>215485935>a utopia gets turned into a dystopia through seemingly trivial eventsLearm your history
The prequels are about this 2 things (said by Lucas himself):1) How democracies become dictatorships.2) How a man can do anything to save his love ones, even becoming so evil as Anakin.
>>215487859>interested in making their 4 billion dollars backAnd how has that been going for them? It is all so incomprehensibly stupid.Yes Star Wars fans are stupid, but (George's) Star Wars films are not stupid films.
>>215485935You know what's funny is that only oldheads were the ones who were pissed off about this, the kids growing up like me watching star wars for the first time were put off by it at all. I actually thought the scenes with the giant floating senate were cool, even though if I didn't understand was taxation of trade routes was about I liked the fact that it felt grown up. >>215486439Real Prequel fans never liked the Filoni Clone Wars. It spits on film continuity and on Anakin's character in particular.
>>215487974>I liked the fact that it felt grown up.But how if you said you didn't understand it.
>>215487859What did that 50 Shades of Grey chick put in her contract to force Universal to obey her and do what she wanted in the films that Lucas didn't put in his contract with Disney. I'm interested in the exact wording. Even Rowling seems to have actual power over HP adaptations, what did they do that Lucas didn't.
>>215487859thing is i can't really say they're BAD films. they made poor choices, but yeah, they're just really straightforward and safe (same way the Marvel movies are, even the 'good' ones). i was entertained by the shapes and sounds when i went to see them.the prequels have outright flaws i can point out. but i like them. i like the story, i like the characters, i like all the designs and spectacle. i can't look at anything in the sequel trilogy and say "ohhh i like that", not even a spaceship or something. MAYBE Kylo Ren's lightsaber? (i think it's neat, /tv/ was wrong.)
>>215487432>still had three seasons of clone wars to make with full scripts written>full scripts written for Underworld show>had just begun 3d rereleases of the movies starting with TPM in anticipation of>working on his own sequel series, had loose drafts written, had secured OT trio's returnsDisney blackmailed him into selling, Spielberg and Kennedy probably told them about children he'd fucked or something.
>>215485935>George Lucas attempts to educate about the evils of usury>They buy his franchise and kill it
>>215488152>same way the Marvel movies areThe Marvel movies were better at what they set out to do than Disney Wars. The MCU kept its fans coming back again and again until Endgame. Disney Wars slit its wrists and died miserably in the bathtub.
>>215487334>>215487432>>215488238maybe it's selling out, but he was done. as in, Star Wars was complete.i know selling "the rights" or "the franchise" means they'll make more, but so what? there are plenty of novel series where the author finished the story and/or died. and yet, sequels from a different author crop up decades later...
>>215487859It's actually even more ridiculous than that because if you go back and revisit all the events, Disney initially accepted Lucas's guidelines with a script and his plan.It was when JJ Abrams stepped in as director that the entire project became a plagiarized reboot, because that clown wanted to do the same thing he'd done with Star Trek and convinced Disney it would be more popular with fans because of the "Nostalgia". He filled it all with Mystery Boxes, but as soon as the fans immediately understood what the plan was (Rey as Han Solo lost daughter and Ben's sister, Snoke was supposed to be Plagueis ecc ecc) , he went into full panic mode and changed everything, scrapping the entire project.Disney was only interested in recovering their investment quickly, but not really in saying how to make the trilogy.
>>215486334that's the pointeverybody did and you can't groom the children any more either with your nuWars slop
>>215488485JJ is a shithead. He probably thought the original trilogy was about mysteries and reveals because of the famous "I am your father" twist, but it never was. We were told at the beginning that Anakin Skywalker was Luke's father, and were given no reason to question it. Then, shockingly, it was revealed that Vader and Anakin were the same person. There was no seed of mystery planted beforehand, and no invitation to speculate on Luke's parentage. People weren't buying tickets to TESB in 1980 because they needed to finally get the answer to that burning question. The only actual mystery box in the OT comes from Yoda saying, "No, there is another." So that gives us a total of... one. One mystery box in the original trilogy. And I can't think of any in the prequels. So we can say that mysteries were certainly not a vital component of Star Wars in the Lucas era.
>>215488461>he was doneIt literally wasn't, his cartoon was ongoing, his Underworld series was written, and his sequels were in preproduction.
