Why are Zoomers so obsessed with a decade they never even experienced?
It's not zoomers writing and directing these movies.
>>215490756But they are the ones watching this and Stranger Things and Night of the Reaper
>>215490730Because they want to experience the best decade in US history? The only way to do that is through media from that era and who can blame them? Its been a complete shit show since 2001.
>>215490820So you're a zoomie? Got it.
>>215490730These movies and shows are being forced on us by Gen Xers who won't let the 1980's go. There are for more people who haven't experienced the decade than people who are nostalgic for it.
>>215490730Perceived authenticity of a world pre smartphones and internet culture. If you talk to anyone who lived through the 80’s, they’ll tell you it wasn’t so great.
nostalgia for 00's nostalgia of the 80's. The snake is eating it's own tail. We're never fucking escaping the 80's, unless life actually gets better somehow.
>>215490987The world ebbs and flows between conservative and liberal. The last cool time we had a more Liberal time was the 70s.
>>215490730Need more of this broad and preferably a higher res photo, pronto.
>>215490730Last era of voluntary segregation, but also blissful ignorance of ZOG
>>215492223https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Katie_Douglas_(actress)Have fun with her name and google
>>215492223Her name is Katie Douglas
It's their birthright. Things weren't supposed to go like this, but they had their heritage stolen by Jews and politics. I don't blame the little guys. God bless them they're only asking for what they are owed as our succesors If any blame is to be laid, point it at ourselves
>>215492293https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3sGt-915tnUAre you saying it be like this?
>>215492293Also: The kids of tomorrow don't need todayWhen they live in the sins of yesterdayhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2UktJtKpFw
>>215490730>Why are Zoomers so obsessed with a decade they never even experienced?gen xy here we cant talk all this dumb 90s and 00s nostalgia when its widely accepted post 2001 was shit foreveryonenow we are seeing nostalgia for 2010s which was even worse especaily after 2015 and again now in 2025 we are getting lockdown nostalgia?!
>>215492312Sum 41 is Millenial manure We owe the zoomers so much more
She looks like an attractive Pugh.
>>215492293>it's our fault people with more money and influence than me decided to fuck up society while I wasn't paying attention and giving them the benefit of the doubtDon't see how.I was just supposed to know that literally every world leader, and every member of the media elite were conspiring to fuck me over, back when I was watching Lord of the Rings in 2001?
>>215490987
>>215492340Sum 41 was radio-safe rock for girls. I lay no claim to the ownership of Sum 41.
>>215490730why do zoomers think they’re authorities on the ‘90s when they cant even get the looks down? Nobody knows.
>>215492364You voted for all of this. You let woke take over. You let being normal become offensive. The Dat of Judgement won't be kind on you
>>215490730Stranger Things. That's it.
>>215492223
>>21549237260s was cringe but ill give you thatt. secondhand knowledge from my ex leftie mom we cant stand libs now
The 70s were an objectively cooler decade.
>>215492381Were 80s friend groups actually multiracial? On the one hand it seems weird. But apparently race relations were better, and a lot of 80s movies show white kids and black kids hanging out
>>215492331There's hardly anyone nostalgic for the 2010s. Also the culture wasn't there to support it. You could set a movie 13 years ago in 2012 and it would be set in a world just like today. If you set a movie 13 years in the past from the year 2000 it would take place in 1987 and feel like a completely different movie. Shit, romi and michelles high school reunion literally proves this and they're only going to their 10 year reunion
>>215492413What're you gonna do when "40 years ago" becomes 2012? The well has run dry
>>215492390>I voted for this when I was pre-voting ageok
>>2154924132020-2024 was really polarizing if you where anti govti fucking hate 2025 with a passion tho>>2154924612010s was nowhere near as bad as 202xyou bring up a good point i doubt anyone will have any nostalgia for anything after 2009
>>215492493If you were pre voting age then nobody is talking to your bitch ass
>>215492438Most white people had at least one black friend, yes
>>215492517How old you think Millennials are?
>>215492461Culture died around 2012-2014After that everything was social media slop and there has been nothing distinct since then
>>215492537I could ask you the same question. You aren't the only millennial, it runs a gammut stupid
>>2154922932 bongs are making it. Why don't they stick to Kate bush? She wants an Oscar obviously
>>215492553the upper end millennials in 2000 were like 20.
>>215492674LMFAOThe oldest millennials are in their 30s moron
>>215492674Is that not voting age?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_Killing_Fields>LAST VICTIM BURIED IN THE TEXAS KILLING FIELDS WAS 16 IN 2006.Come on guys we need to get some Zoomer girls in there.
>>215492685This was a mistake, my bad I meant something else
>>215492716That accounts for what? a quarter of the people who are a part of that generation? An eighth?
>>215492674Late Gen X were 20 in 2000
>>215492724No seriously. You fuckers better get on this./
I'm Gen x and I was 21 in 1999
>>215492438No. I graduated high school in the 90s in a large suburb for a major major American city and the school was 95 percent white, as was literally every other suburban school at the time. Friend groups were were all white. There was an Asian girl who was kind of popular but that was it. School was basically like the movie can't hardly wait. That's literally my my high school experience like it was for the rest of my peers. The reason boomers and everyone who graduated high school before the millennium are always all uncle rico and glory days is because the 50s-90s were peak teen culture where you had complete freedom and no monitoring shit like cell phones. Our parents didn't even like us and didn't care if were out until 4 in the morning in like 8th grade
>>215492390>You voted for all of thisNot him but I have voted republican every time and I've been voting since 06. I bet none of you faggots voted when you were 18 but now you want to talk about how I owe you something.
>>215492781>YouI'm Gen x partner, I don't know what you're talking about If anything I owe you , little brother
>>215492372Wtf is a department of retro
>>215490987Just wait for boomers and the majority of Gen X to die.
Zoomers don't wanna live in this shit world anymore than you do they're saying LET US OUT
>>215493409Stunad, there's nothing to replace it with, that was the "end of history" as far as culture was concerned
Who knew the internet would be the end to generations.
>>215493472This. What there to be nostalgic about? Sitting on the computer or your phone for 9 hours a day? The fuck outta here
>>215490730Because in the 80s and most of the 90s you could work as a dish washer part time at any restaurant and still afford to go on summer holidays while living in a nice apartment. Today you can work 2 jobs and die in shared accommodation drone unit.
>>215490942I lived through both. Everything was much better than it is now. Every single thing. Even early internet was great because it was totally unfiltered and devoid of the 3rd world.
If you're a zoomer listen up.: don't EVER feel bad about anything anyone older says about you. Just do your best kiddos
>>215490942That bullshit. There's no way for you to know. Theyre 2 completely different paradigms, you have no point of reference. That's like someone from post electricity era saying things were better pre electricity. They're two different worlds completely. You have absolutely no idea
>>215493518I'm nostalgic for being able to do that without my back hurting. Getting old is not fucking cool.
>>215492413Bell bottoms look ridiculous
>>215493890You're not oldStop itYou're embarrassing yourself
>>215492674We were called gen y. I was 15 in the year 2000.
>>215493967>Gen y I remember that then they started calling youse guys millennials for some reason. How things change!
>>215493987Well Baby Boomers - Gen X - Gen Y (Millenials) then to Gen Z (Zoomers) and now Gen Alpha (No nickname yet)
>>215490987The 80s was the last decade with a really distinctive visual aesthetic, while also being the first decade to look recognizably modern from a 21st century vantage point. Everything from the late 90s to the present has looked kind of similar, so while you can have 90s nostalgia or 2000s nostalgia you can't as easily turn those decades into instantly visually recognizable brands. That's why 80s nostalgia will always be with us, it's just really easy to package and sell.
>>215494020Gen x aren't Millenials, boyo
>>215494056Reread what posted the hyphens indicate the next Generation
>>215494081Sorry my boy I'm pretty drunk
>>215494081>>215494056I guess I switched halfway through nvm. The first half is "Generation - Next Generation"
>>215494101No no, you're alrightHave some peanuts
>>215492413The whole Vietnam era was insufferable. And that includes the JFK administration years.
>>215494146When I was a kid we'd play Tour of Duty You probably never even heard of that show. 70s were fucking kino
>>215490730Why are chuds so obsessed with WW2 and Nazis even though they never lived it?
>>215494183Not for nothin but there was no world war in the 80s kid, that's kind of a false equivalence
>>215494183They grew up on it. Millenials all grew up on the WWII mythos inherited from their Boomer parents.
The 80s actors have a distinct, maybe because they were all pushing 30 playing teens. Casting actual soft face young somethings with baby fat is kind of distracting. Movies are not meant to be real they're fantasies.
>>215492438Did young people always look this weird?
>>215494183>Why are chuds so obsessed with WW2 and Nazis even though they never lived it?
>>215492254>>215492272>>215492401Thanks, lads. Pics under 1080p should be outlawed.
>>215492438yes, but it wasn't random whites orbiting non-white groups like today, back then it was select elite non-whites who acted white and liked white music and fashion attaching themselves to white groups
>>215490730is this a decent movie?
>>215490730Fucking 80s, man, best shit ever. Bet your ass, man.Guns N' Roses fucking rules. Crüe. Def Lep.Then that Cobain pussy had to come around and ruin it all. Like there's something wrong with wanting to have a good time.I'll tell you something. I hated the fucking 90s.90s fucking sucked.
>>215492272feet pics, ballgags, call me daddy... did someone make a fetish film based on a real life kidnapping?
>>215492685>The oldest millennials are in their 30s moronOldest millennial's were born in the early 80s. They're in their early 40s now.
Millennials are basically anyone who was a "kid" during the millennial. So if you were a 19 or younger when the year turned 2000 you're a millennial. Basically 81-95. Old millennial are 44, which makes people complaining about millennial extra funny cause most of them have a mortgage and are on their second marriages lol.
>>215497737No. Because all of that really happened
>>215490730>zoomers are working in the film industry en masseit's you mentally ill millennials making them, incel. and you also didn't experience it.>inb4 I was there bro, I was 3yo
>>215493567You are old.Simple as.
>>215490730We used to obsess about the 70's. It's kind of fitting.
>>215490730I never experienced the 70s but always found the 70s had a cool aestheticfuck me I guess
>>215498368https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aae_RHRptRgBest decade for music.
Nobody wants to make a movie where smartphones and social media are present. Ari Aster tried and results were mixed.
>>215492272we need more ballgagkino
>>215490730It's not aimed at zoomers but at nostalgia Gen X/millenial losers.
>>215490730same reason gen x have been obsessed with the 50s
>>215498566gen x was obsessed with the 50s?
>>215498593yeah somehow. Look at Back to the Future.
>>215490730>hahaha zoomers are so fucking dumb they have no culture>time for another 80s thread!>what's that? you want to watch a movie from before you were born? well tough luck! you're a poser and/or newfag! Everything you do must have an ulterior, attention seeking motive!!! there's no winning with you faggots. that aside, the 70s had better movies anyways.
>>215490820Bullshit. Zoomers warch euphoria and other degenerate jewish shit. I hate jews. One guy at my work recently started talking to me about how holocaust is fake and i believe him
>>215490730Fundamentally you don't understand how media works. Customers don't truly get to 'vote with their wallets' and choose what rises to the top. Hollywood writes what they want to, and viewers, even if they're zoomers, will sit and watch what the talmudvision shows them. It's not zoomer audiences demanding 80s nostalgia, it's Gen X writers who are simply writing things that they're nostalgic for. This has been a fairly consistent trend over time as well, with the way nostalgia cycles work. They're dictated by the middle-aged crowd, not the younger generations.
>>215492438Well, you have to keep in mind that america was much MUCH whiter back then. And it was also much more segregated. Not officially, like not with jim crow laws or anything like that, but by default, different groups just naturally stick together. You didn't yet have HUD deliberately putting section 8 housing in white neighborhoods or school districts bussing white kids from the suburbs 45 minutes away to inner city schools to "desegregate". So it's not that there were absolutely no nonwhites in schools, but effectively you would see far fewer of them in schools, and the ones you tended to have were probably not ghetto.
>>215492461the rise of social media ruined any permanence or consistency of culture. Everything is globalized. Everyone is thrown into one big pot and stirred up. The internet has accelerated memes/trends/etc so quickly, and they come in and out of style so rapidly that they never end up having any sticking power at all. It just becomes one big amorphous whirlwind of content. That is why you could look back to older eras and in a broad sense they can actually appear to be a distinct period of time. Things moved and changed more slowly back then, so things stuck around and could actually become ingrained. "the 80s" wasn't a monolith, but in general you still saw distinct styles that lasted a very long time, and you can clearly point to something as being of that era. That really doesn't exist anymore. Not unless you count cuck-masks as being a fashion item of the 2020s
