What do small time actors and actresses with long gaps between roles do during the time between roles?I always wonder how hard life must be to be famous but not have famous money to go with it.I know some do the convention circuit, but that has to be humiliating. Pic somewhat related
>>215491165Voice acting, theatre, directing, maybe teaching. If they’re okay financially maybe they get into something else like woodworking or welding or pottery
Mark got into his true talent, which was voice acting. He's way more talented at it than actual acting, which he kind of sucks at.

>>215491198This, unironically. People know him as the Joker, but he has hundreds of roles in so many different shows. He was the voice of basically every non band member character in Metalocalypse.
>>215491198Nah he was great in The Long Walk
>>215491342Well, my response is he has now had 50 additional years of experience to hone his craft.I think he is actually quite skilled at portraying villains. He was basically the Darth Vader Emperor McBadguy of that kid's show Avatar, and he was the Honkler for like 30 years straight in voice acting.
>>215491165Hamill does a ton of voice acting work in animationActors in the situation you describe might go to conventions>>215491190A lot go into real estate or the stock market.Josh Brolin almost quit acting to become a full time trader in the mid-2000s he was getting so little job offers and then suddenly 2007 hit and its Grindhouse-No Country for Old Men-In the Valley of Elah-American Gangster
>>215491165Small time actors don't have long gaps. They take every job they can because they need the money. So they do guest spots on tv, commercials, voice work, teaching, theatre...
>>215491165Hit the fan circuit. Shill for communist political parties. The norm...
>>215491165I wondered this too but with directors. I really liked Mick Garris' podcast and I like the guy but he only made slop and not even a lot of it. Royalties probably help but I doubt they're enough.
>>215491296Yeah his joker is my favorite of all time followed by Jack nicholson
>>215491165>I know some do the convention circuit, but that has to be humiliating.are there any good behind the scenes docs about actors working the convention circuit? that would be interesting.
>>215491165Have you been living under a rock or something? Mark Hamill has been doing voice acting since his Star Wars days. He is THEE Joker voice, much like how Kevin Conroy is THEE Batman voice.
People assume Hamill was doing okay financially because he was the standard VO for the Jestman for some decades, but I wonder about that. The reason I wonder is that he starred in the Wing Commander series back in the 90s when live-action, pixelated FMVs were a selling point for PC games. The Wing Commander games were good from the viewpoint of a player, but an actor would not see them as respectable work, especially not the star who of a film that had set a new box office record. If an actor spent the 90s appearing in PC game cutscenes, it meant there was something wrong with their career, and it hinted at the possibility of financial struggles. Consider that Malcolm McDowell was in Wing Commander too.
