How do I get into this? I heard the first couple of seasons are complete slop. Is there a watch guide or something?
You just watch it you fucking retard
>>215491953wrong one
>>215491673skip season 1, skip troi eps, most worf eps, ferengis, skip anything with wesley or his mother.
>>215491673just watch it chronologically. its true that it starts off rough, but you'll still be endeared by the cast and sink into the universe. and as the quality improves, you'll be able to appreciate it more
>>215491673>How do I get into this?Just hit play my dude.
>>215491673>I heard the first couple of seasons are complete slopHit whoever told that over the head with a blunt object and watch it from start to finish. You'll love it by the end.
To be honest I started as someone curious by watching some random episodes in season 3, and then going back to watch some random eps from earlier seasons (usually considered "the good ones") before just moving on from 3 onwards.
>>215491673the first 2 seasons meme is from reddit, the first 2 seasons make up half of the top 10 episodes of TNG. There's also a nice sound score they use during standoffs and discussions with alien beings.Reddit doesn't like the first 2 seasons because it brings up drug induced sex escapades and black people being worthless.
I just started it, never watched a star trek media before, I'm 20 episode in, it's pretty cool, far better than any modern series
>>215492201This is the way to do it. First seasons are just too "raw" and unperfected for someone trying to get into the show, and the episodic nature means you're not really missing much popping into a random season 3 episode.
>>215491673Why are you Fucking outside of your containment thread you Cocksucker?
>>215491673Don't binge watch it. Take your time. One episode a week
>>215493351>containment threadKill yourself faggot
Start with the episode Who Watches the Watchers in season 3. It tells you a lot about the show and it's a good test of whether you'll like it
>>215491673>How do I get into this? hit play>I heard the first couple of seasons are complete slop.some eps are better than others, even the bad ones are better than most slop on TV these days>Is there a watch guide or something?yeah, but just start from the beginning
>>215493323>First seasons are just too "raw" and unperfected for someone trying to get into the showHow so ? Never watched star trek before and I like it (got 3-4 episodes left of s1)
I've converted many a TNG skeptic by showing them "A Matter Of Honor".
>>215491673Honestly I love the first two seasons but I guess I understand why everyone says newbies should avoid them. They can be a bit cheesy at times.
>>215491673Using the word SLOP indicates that you're a know nothing NPC cocksucker, but to answer your question, the show hit its peak in season 3 to 4 then started going downhill in season five, a common problem with many TV shows. It's because back in the day you had to hit a certain number of episodes for syndication in order for everyone involved in the show would get residual money for infinity, so if a show was any good it would usually peak at the 3rd season and carry over to the 4th only to start going downhill after the 5th.This is because during those first 4 seasons people were invested in making the best product they could but once that was no longer necessary they got lazy.Star Trek TNG, The X-Files and Community are my three examples along with Games of Thrones to a lesser extent. Now I'm not saying they didn't still make some great episodes afterwards, it's just that the overall quality took a noticeable downturn. This is why streaming has ruined that model as they don't have to follow the traditional syndicated route. They can make anything they want and will just throw anything at the wall to see what sticks. They also feel that they have to complete with cinema, so everything has to be BIG and EPIC!
>>215491673Season 1 is the shitty one. Other than that it is all watchable. It's a pretty mixed bag of banger episodes and meh stuff.
>>215494915Back when you had to make approx. 20-24 episodes of a show you had to find ways of making filler without the need of flashing action scenes or FX. This is why the writing for ST:TNG was soo strong because they had to focus on stories about the human condition as well as moral and ethical dilemmas that could usually be resolved with characters talking to each other. But streaming services don't have to do that, so they cut down the amount of episodes and focus more on action at the expense of character development. The latest trash that's been made out of Star Trek is a perfect example as the writing is garbage and papered over with gaudy sets, costumes and FX as a substitute for storytelling. Then there's this bullshit where they'll make ONE SEASON of 6-10 episodes and it will be YEARS before the next one. This is why the cast of Stranger Things are supposed to be in high school but now look like they're ready for retirement and another example of how lazy people have become not to mention the ridiculous amounts they're spending with each episode costing approx. 30-35 million dollars!?!That's insane when you could have made several low budget movies for that amount and how streaming services should be run as the point is to provide entertainment and gain new subscribers. But people will only subscribe usually for one show, or movie, then unsubscribe after watching it because there's no other incentive to continue doing so!
>>215491673You either watch everything or you watch nothing. Your time has no value and you won't die soon enough.
>>215494933So if you had a new movie out every two weeks that could entice people to continue subscribing, especially if the movies were good and the way to ensure that is by capping budgets and give opportunities to people who will use less resources and be forced to be more innovative and creative with their budgets. Then there's throwing hundred of millions on vanity projects like The Irisman, Mank, Rebel Moon, Killers of the Flower Moon etc... that could have been better spent. Finally, it's not that show's looked worse, that's just how they were shot back then because they were usually done on 35mm film and couldn't afford fancy cinematography but digital has made it that you can shoot at 8K resolution on your cellphone and why things should be getting better and more efficient as the process has been made infinitely easier and why we should be in a new golden era of cinema and television as there are tens of thousands of great novels that could be adapted with no limitations in regards to running time, demographics, length and censorship!!!FACT!!!
>>215491953>>215491987I love every TNG episode because I love TNG but this voyager list will come in extremely handy
This and Kirk are best
>>215491987>the one where Picard wants to sleeplmao A LOT of these content reminders are great.
>>215494915>along with Games of Thrones to a lesser extentThe motivation for perpetual residuals may have been there, but that was definitely not the reason for the season 4 drop. In this specific case, it was nearly entirely due to D&D running out of books to adapt and thinking they are talented enough to ad-lib based on GRRM's prompts. Even the fifth season, which was supposed to be based on the last two books, was at least half D&D's retarded brain child.
>>215491987Mostly accurate, but the episode where Broccoli turns into a super genius is amazing
>>215492152>Wesley's motherGet fucked. Beverley getting stuck in a shrinking space hole was peak TNG you faggot.
>>215493443That episode is fine, but it's pretty generic and a little dull. I'm not sure why you'd use that as your episode of choice.
>>215491748FPBP

Watch every episode. It builds character to suffer.
>>215496874Because a good portion of the episode is explaining to a character the way Star fleet technology works and it shows the lengths everyone there is willing to go to follow the prime directive. It's a great example of what the show is all about for someone who hasn't watched any of it before
