>mogged by the video game adaptation
>>215491873wheres the video game i want to play
More like loose butthole what a gay movie
>>215491891sh2thou sh2 doesn't have him, so did it really mog the movie?
>>215491891Silent Hill 2>protagonist murders their wife>enters a dreamworld where they don't remember what they did>encounter an idealized version of their dead wife>are followed by a mysterious character representing their guilt>eventually come face to face with their conscience and the reality of what they didThe Silent Hill devs were open about being strongly influenced by Lynch
>>215491938SH2 also goes for the awkward Lynchian acting
>>215491963That is a fanboy cope. The voice acting is bad because it's a Japanese PS2 game. It wasn't an artistic choice.
>>215492127Fuck off, retard.Pic related: Silent Hill voice director, who was American btw
>>215491922>He's right behind me, is he not?
>>215492511Of course that's what a director who did a shitty job would say. Just like when Tommy Wiseau tried to claim The Room was actually intended as a comedy the whole time.
>>215492511>pretend it was intentional after the factThen tell me: why is the acting similarly unnatural in SH1 and SH3, games that were not patterned on a Lynch film?
>>215492624>>215492633There's a level of jank to it but the whole series clearly was inspired by Lynch from day one and there's no reason to doubt that the voice acting was part of that. It just werks anyways. If you don't like it then go enjoy the remake where they used traditional cinematic voice acting and removed all the soul.
>>215492840Yes, it's inspired by Lynch and other psychological thrillers that came before. None of them have the off beat acting of SH2. Fred does not talk or sound like James. He is so much more passive that even comparing them is a stretch of the coping order. Even if they made them say those lines in the most unconvincing manner it was not in anyway emulates Lynch's actors.
>>215491922This guy's scene is one of the best horror scenes of all time
>>215492948If you liked that, check out never here 2017. It is a lynchian thriller.
>>215491938well now that you put it that way it makes sense. most of the time I just couldn't see what Lost highway has in common with Silent hill besides the dreamy feeling
The inland empire skill is worth checking out on disco elysium. Very creative expression in a video game.
>>215493188Disco Elysium is great, very Lynchian at times.I saw Perfect Blue in theater recently, and it reminded me a lot of Lost Highway too, which I also saw at the theater earlier this year so it was still in my head. very similar themes and blurring of reality. although those movies came out in the same year, so I doubt either was influenced by the other.
>>215492992>most of the time I just couldn't see what Lost highway has in common with Silent hillProbably because it doesn't look much like a Lynch film. The decor and creatures of SH2 more closely resemble the 2000 film The Cell and the '90s industrial stylings of the music video for NIN's Closer.
