why did they have this android, Data, on the Enterprise when there is an AI called Computer that can process voice commands? Computer can complete tasks much faster than Data could complete them with the limitations of his physical form.I admit I used to think Data was cool when I was young because he is this pale oddball character who explains things in a very technical way. But now it all just seems so fucking stupid.

The whole point of Data as a character is that he is superior to Humans in many respects but he envies the things we take for granted like emotions, having dreams, tasting food, etc. Data excels as a Starfleet officer in part because of his advantages as an android and the crew will lean on those advantages sometimes but he is a member of the crew the same as the rest, not a stand-in for the ship's computer.
