i liked s1-3, 4 is ok and 5 it drops off a cliff. read a bunch of the books and they're decent too
I wish Amos and Alex were the main Rocinante characters. Jim was a boring fuck and Naomi was genuinely infuriating to watch.
it's real show. i saw it once so i know it's real
>>215498019Can confirm, I didn't dream it.
A shame they didn't carry on with how the first Belter was introduced instead of turning them into annoying mutts. Naomi was annoying as fuck and space noir detective was the best thing about it.
>>215497865I like Jim Holden. It's unpopular I know, sue me.My reasoning is that he is a genuinely moral person with a strong sense of right and wrong.I don't think I could be his friend, but I respect his character because he genuinely believes it, he's not virtue signalling.
>>215498112If you like that sort of thing, sci fi noir is popular, lots to choose from if you can read.
Not that great and the acting is terrible
>>215498155I'm just re reading Book of the New Sun again but any recommendations?
>>215497865With that generic name it's guaranteed to be shit
>>215498130I wish jim holden was real
>>215497865Watch it up until the Amazon seasons when the budget drops to 0 and the writing craters into a black hole
>>215498186The man kzin wars is an anthology of short stories and novellas set in the Ringworld universe. "The Cold Ones" is a great story in the series. There are others too, a lot of cool shit there.
Expanse, the 100, dark, the other one that came out that was on a cruise ship, lost, severance, westworld… the list goes onDon’t get baited by le mystery boxes they never pay off, all of the shows above are dogshit
>>215498112That Belter concept is from Larry Nivens expanded universe beyond Ring World into the Man Kzin Wars. It also deals with other human that live in high gravity environments.>>215498186Read the Quadrail series from Timothy Zahn, he's the guy that wrote Heir To The Empire>>215498258you sniped my rec
>>215498332There are so many cool stories in the man kzin wars. One of my other favourites is the kzin sheriff defending some cut off city from giant psychic lobsters. Or the ones about "sleeper" commandos, or the slavers. Goddamn so much good shit in one universe.Dude remember the dwarves from We-Made-It and their special kick that would kill a kzinti in one hit (but also themselves)
>>215498400never read the crash lander stuff but I will now, did you read the 5 ringworld companion novels?
>>215498510No, just the main book. I didn't like them as much as the anthology. I got up to ringworld engineers and stopped. The puppeteers and their shenanigans...
MARS PRIDESYSTEM WIDEGAS THE BELTERSSPACE WAR NOW
The Expanse was interesting when it set up the premise that, basically you had a group of rag-tag misfits all from different walks of life and factions who were thrust together and made into fugitives together while also accidentally coming into possession of an advanced cutting-edge military star fighter ship, and now they're forced to live on the run as outlaws while being stuck between all of the larger political faction conflict in the solar system where everyone wants to use them or wants them dead. Good, basic but functional premise. You get the promise of political intrigue, corruption, backstabbing, crime, piracy, etc. etc. What ACTUALLY happened instead, however, is that the show first made the unwitting captain of the ship, who is kind of a retard, into some system-wide folk hero, and then immediately did a hard left turn into SPACE MAGIC. The grizzled, old-school, Columbo-meets-Dirty-Harry detective character that is chasing them in the background?>Yeah he dies because a magic psychic space alien infected this space station and he chooses to fly off into the sun with her.The political intrigue and factional war that is brewing between Earth and Mars? >Actually it's just given up when a magic space alien that was developed in a lab gets involved and then the main characters go off to chase it down. It actually gets so fucking retarded past like, season 2.5 that it's kind of amazing just how bad it ended up being.
