Why did the OT have such lame characters compared to the PT? Compare the core characters and it's night and day. Luke is a weeb but he at least has an arc. Leia is a snarky cunt and is also rather ugly to boot. Han's a literal nothing. Lando and the rest are not even characters. Obi-Wan is just a cliche carried by good acting. Then you go to the PT and everyone feels alive. Anakin and Obi-Wan both outshine the Luke and Han duo. I never even bought that Han was Luke's friend, and with Ford phoning it in, it would've been better if Solo had died in ESB. Leia doesn't come anywhere near close to Padme. There are no equivalents to Dooku, Grievous and Maul. Qui-Gon is the Ben Kenobi of the PT, and even with one movie he manages to have more character. Palpatine isn't even a character.To me the OT literally just has two characters; Vader and Luke. Everyone else is a cardboard cutout. And it makes me wonder how ones like Leia and Han even caught on. Who watched SW and said>boy, I sure do like the cliche space cowboy with the tiny blaster who doesn't even throw a punchAnd Leia is even worse because she's not likeable, regal or at least hot, she's just some random bitch. Guiness as Obi-Wan does a great job, and Yoda's obviously immediately memorable, but the rest of the humans just don't matter at all.People give the PT a lot of crap, but it did create many memorable characters with interwoven stories and relationships. Han could've died in ESB, Leia just fucked off after ANH instead of being retconned as Luke's sister, and nothing would change. Hell, why didn't Luke even get the Princess at the end? Lucas should've cast a hotter woman and had Luke end up with her. Han getting the girl is literally cucking the MC. What was he even thinking?
