Best and worst season?S2 and S5 for me respectively.
>>215498248I cant remember what happened in any of the seasons, so I have no way of ranking them
First one is the "worst" but they were still figuring it out. In S2 they got it but it's a little try-hard with the new style. S3 and S4 is peak for me.
>>215498248Season 6 is obviously the worst, when David Chase got high on all the critical acclaim and went so far so up his own ass he couldn't see daylight.
Best season: 1Worst season : 6A
>>215498294agree with this. they really hit their stride in S3-4. first is objectively the worst, although I do really enjoy it and its quirks. I think S5 is my personal least favourite, it might be more competent than S1, but idk, it feels the most "tired" of any of the seasons.
>>215498248>bests2>worsts4>>215498346>Worst season : 6Aalso a valid choice, it's paced weird and i can't imagine how it was seeing the "vito is gay" plot for 6 weeks. i think the higher budget and setup for season 6b saves a lot of it though
Best: 6Worst: 1/thread
Sigh since no one has given the right answer yet, best is 2 worst is 6>>215498385>4The weight and whoever did this push it above 6 for me
>>215498380>>2154982943&4 are when Chase loses the plot because Nancy Marchand died and the show becomes about random nonsense. There's no unity of vision or story he wants to tell anymore. 1&2 are peak of the show because there's actually a plan behind what's being written, the show is building up the conflict between Tony and his mother, which sadly never comes to fruition. >>215498398There's literally nothing wrong with season 1 except some of the shitty acting from extras and some bad blocking in a few scenes. But the shitty extra acting continues throughout the show anyway.
>>2154982485 and 6A were the only times it felt like the show made real missteps. Blundetto’s whole storyline is a mess, and the Vito shit is laughable
>>215498248>Best1>Worst6While I do find this show to be overhyped and quite mediocre, I do appreciate that I can use it as a maladjusted retard finder with about 98% accuracy.
>>215498380>>215498427>it feels the most "tired" of any of the seasons.blundetto's entire plot is wasted potential. but i like how comfy s5 is, i don't think it feels tired at all, it actually feels like an attempt to add some life with the new characters, i was actually surprised how fast the season moves. plus i'm autistic and i like how much of it takes place in the summer before ending in the late fall/early winter
>>215498427> Blundetto’s whole storyline is a mess,The fact they had to ADR dialogue after most the season was shot to rewrite his plot is insane. What a clusterfuck
>>215498425>muh planmeh. that's not as important as you think it is. while it is true Chase might have had more narrative direction in those first two seasons, to an extent - even early on, it was obvious he had no idea what to do with the Melfi plot beyond the pilot. a lot of those early seasons were also being made up as they went, even already in season 2 they had changed direction drastically from season 1, because Chase wasn't even sure if there would be a season 2 so he wrote season 1 to be self contained. I'm not convinced that the airline ticket plot would have been any better or more fleshed out than what came later. it was probably still just a concept of a plan. you overestimate how much he really had planned. also, like any tv show, it takes time for writers and actors to really find the characters and the rhythm of the show. in a broad sense, season 1 might have had a tighter narrative than later seasons - but seasons 3 and 4 had better characterization, better dialogue, better acting, better directing, and so on, and if you pull any random episode from those middle seasons it will stand head and shoulders above any individual episode of season 1.
Best seasons: 2 and 4Worst seasons: 3 and 5
>>215498482S5 has the best episode of the show Irregular around the margins
>>215498535>what to do with the Melfi plot beyond the pilot.I don't think the Melfi plot was ever important, therapy was just an excuse to have Tony narrate his life. >you overestimate how much he really had plannedHe definitely wanted there to be a final conflict between Tony and his mother, most likely with her testifying against him in court, and almost certainly ending with Tony strangling her to death. That scene idea was later stolen and given to Paulie, in a scene that's much less important and emotionally impactful. I think a lot of scenes like that were taken from Chase's initial conception of how the show would transpire and then cannibalized and used for other characters/plots since Marchand died and he couldn't do what he wanted. Reminder that the core of the show, the initial inspiration for it was Chase hating his mother and writing a show to complain about her. > but seasons 3 and 4 had better characterization, better dialogue, better acting, better directing, and so on,But plots that ultimately went nowhere and started to resemble a soap opera more and more as the wheels began to spin in the mud. Season 5 tried to rectify this but turned into a total mess.
Best: 6Favourite: 5Worst: 1
>>215498248For me the best is Season 6, the worst is Season 2
>>215498427>Blundetto’s whole storyline is a messEasily the worst main season storyline in the entire show like holy fuck
>>215498248S2 for me is a little stock, like they were surprised they were renewed. Ritchie isn't a good villain but there's still some great moments in it.I liked the overall story of S5 but felt the Tony Blundetto character was weird as fuck as it's just Steve Buchemi in Sopranos.
>>215498425I think Tony's mom dying allowed the show to pivot from an overarching drama that would have resulted in Tony facing the Feds to a show about Tony constantly eluding the Feds. It felt more real 2bh. The FBI finally have this lead that can take down Tony Soprano and the witness fucking dies suddenly. This kind of shit happens all the time in law enforcement.Gotta wonder how it would have turned out. I've seen speculation that Tony would have eventually had his Mom killed.
>>215498533What happened? I haven't heard that
>Best S2>Worst S6 A and B
Most of the seasons are close in quality for me but 6A is the worst. The Vito plot takes up too much time, same with the Juliana Skiff bullshit
>>215498380>objectively the worstValue is subjective you fucking retard
>>215498248>Best and worst season?S2 and S6A.
First season is very amateurish basic network tv slop, the rest is more or less the same good quality.
>>215498425no slight against Marchand’s performance because it was excellent, but I couldn’t have taken much more of Tony’s Mom. It was a blessing in disguise for the show.
>muh vitoThe whole Johnnycakes arc consists of like five scenes.
I really liked season 1. the tone was more up-beat and i loved how warm the colours were, but the reason why i also love s6 is because it's the polar-opposite of 1. I'd say the major fault of s1 was that it was a bit all-over because the writers were trying to get their foot in (the best example of this would be the pilot)the worst would have to be s5 because nothing happens until the last 3 episodes.
