>In the early 2000s, Val Kilmer pitched a sequel to HEAT in which his character, Chris Shiherlis, seduces Natalie Portman's now adult character, Lauren Gustafson, in order to gain access to her stepfather, Al Pacino's Detective Vincent Hanna, and exact revenge for the death of his crew in the first film, only to become conflicted as he begins to genuinely care for Lauren, but by that time he was no longer considered a viable leading man and there was no interest in following up on the original film, especially without director Michael Mann's involvement.
