Who ordered the hit on Tony? And why?
the studio for costing them 13 million dollars a season
>>215502905>Who ordered the hit on Tony?New York.>And why?To remove any remaining bad blood, to avoid him testifying against NY in his RICO case, to take over any New Jersey business while his family was weakened, to avenge Phil being killed in front of his family
>>215502905What hit? the episode just cut to black because the lazy faggots couldn't be arsed to give a proper ending to the show.
>>215502905Most likely Butch, although Butch may have been smart enough not to want to become boss himself after Phil dies. Killing Tony is the logical step by New York. Eliminating Tony (who has leverage over Butch, knowing he betrayed Phil, a respected member of the Family who did 20 fuckin' years) is the best move for him. NJ was also on wobbly legs at this point, having lost most of their big players. Easy enough to finish off Tony, flip Paulie and Patsy to their side, maybe install one of them as a figurehead (I picture this being Patsy, most likely) and take over their rackets and operations. What I find more interesting is the deeper theme of us getting to know Tony on such a deeply personal level for six seasons, just for him to die the same way countless other characters in the Mafia died on the show. Such is that lifestyle. Really brings home how and why organized crime is so evil, not even counting their innocent victims as well.
>>215503280>the deeper theme of us getting to know Tony on such a deeply personal level for six seasons, just for him to die the same way countless other characters in the Mafia died on the show.Tony himself says there's only two endings for guys like him.
>>215503321Yeah, he's also a contradictory character who on some level I think wanted out of that lifestyle, like most of the other gangsters. Even Phil had a very brief moment of self reflection after his heart attack.
>>215503339>who on some level I think wanted out of that lifestyle, like most of the other gangsters.I guarantee that would end the same way it did for Vito and Tony B. These guys cannot give up that lifestyle.
>>215503351There's a nature vs. nurture debate there, but yeah. Bottom line is, they're sucked into it by their own evil. Lack of conviction, narcissism, laziness, boredom, whatever. It's ingrained.
>>215502905what hit?
>>215503396Personality type or product of environment is inconsequential past a certain point. They basically get institutionalised. They get to live like kings, party all night and never need to do a minute of real work. Christopher barely even entertains the thought of giving it up before he decides he'd can't and would rather give up the supposed love of his life instead.
>>215502905Tony doesn’t get shot his life is just meaningless so they gave us a black screen to signify it
Poor Tony. He didn't deserve it.
>>215503453To me, it really does feel like a devilish sort of temptation, and there are a lot of spiritual elements on the show.
>>215503456He absolutely did, man.
>>21550345651 years old. He was a fucking kid.
>>215503456He didnt deserve an unknown fate? Its not the worst thing. They tried to keep an opening for a later cash grab.
the best theory I've heard is Butchie turning on phil working with paulie and patsy to turn on tony. decapitate do business with whoevers left. Paulie was a survivor and Patsy had personal motivation.
>>215503280>just for him to die the same way countless other characters in the Mafia died on the showOmar comin'
>>215502971Ha ha nice retardlarp
>>215502905me
>>215503583>Patsy had personal motivation. With Meadow's engagement he just got a new meal ticket. Look how quickly Bobby got bumped up the chain when he became family. Killing him now, especially after he'd found some kind of peace with what happened to his brother, makes no sense for Patsy.
>>215502905Heisenberg
>>215503351It basically did after the coma when he declares that from now on he sees every day as a gift, which is when we enter the final stretch of Tony's life. He not only backslides, but somehow becomes even worse than before.
>>215502954I think Phil needed to be avenged regardless. They don't just say "someone whacked the boss, oh well, life goes on", there has to be someone to take the blame. Which made me wonder about Johnny Sac's plan to kill Carmine, there was no discussion about who was going to get blamed. Also, two moolies versus the boss of Brooklyn's bodyguards, I wonder if it would've worked at all
>>215503456he was such a kind man
>>215503456He was a saint.
>>215502905Artie. He was sick of Tony never settling his tab.
>>215503648if the wheels were in motion it would be too late.
>>215503963Artie took the piss out of Tony and all of the mobsters and their wives the whole time.
>>215502905my own personal fanfic is the widow of Eugene she inherited his inheritance after he...you know, and the shooter was wearing a MO jacketcanonically it was either NY making sure it was truly over or Paulie/Phillie looking to either save their own skin (Tony was going away) or revenge for the brother now that it all blew up.
>>215504043I think the Members' Only jacket was intentional, the guy in the credits is described as "Man in Members' Only Jacket." I think Eugene's episode, where he kills a fat guy ("Teddy" = Tony?) in a diner while wearing said jacket, is meant to foreshadow the finale. Don't think it goes beyond that, though. Those types of jackets are common among gangsters. Richie wears one, too.

>>215502905>Who ordered the hit on TonyTony order onion rings
>>215502905His heart.
>>215504089Members only? Dafuck is that?
I'm surprised no one has prompted AI to make a video of Tony getting shot at the end.
>>215502905I had a 300 reply argument with someone over this. I kept insisting that it was one of the Vipers, and he kept calling me stupid.
>>215502905Butchie/NY, to avenge the gruesome way Phil died, AND in front of his family, adding insult to injury, cant believe ppl not get this.
>>215504321It was obviously the interior decorator who killed 16 Czechoslovakians
>>215504346That was just for optics though, I doubt Butchie really cared. I also assume most of the underlings in NY didn't know he betrayed Phil and probably would prefer they not find out.
It was Heidi. She had to make sure Tony wouldn't blab about her causing a traffic accident on her learner's permit after dark.
>>215504384Yes, they had to do it for the sake of dignity and respect of the Lupertazzi family, everyone in it would had demanded Tonys head for how Phil died
>>215504399So funny that this is the reason Chris died. Teenage irresponsibility. Again, this show portrays the often unintended consequences of "evil" decisions, big or small. Reminds me of when they dump the asbestos into the duck pond later.
>>215504384>Butchie really cared.Opportunity of a lifetime. Turn on phil, let tony think he won, and take over his family. Flawless victory since phil was a moody prick. Wandering eye sees all.
>>215502905New York, to tie any loose ends.
>>215502971The show was centered around Tony's character, it ended from his POV and you were too much of a dunce to understand it.
>>215503433OMG I love Doom 3, don't know what it has to do with this tho.
Paulie was acting mighty sus in the last episode, he probably had something to do with it too
Russians because the guy that walks in looked like Zelensky phenotype
>>215502905Tony dies to lung cancer. He's the third boss to die to it, after his father and Johnny Sack. These things come in three.
>>215502905>There are “people” that still think Tony was killed instead of just living in perpetual paranoia>they still don’t get it that the cut to black represents him being dead on the inside.Filtered, all of them.
>>215502905Why did the writers make it an open ending?
>>215505183To leave in the possibility of Sopranos 2: The Search For More $
you are literally shown phil ordering the hits and ordering they happen no matter what
>>215505355This.Phil gave an order to Butchie to give an order to one of NYC's 200 buttons to take out Tony. The order was simply carried out regardless of what transpired in the meantime.
>>215505183so that people would keep arguing and discussing it 20 years laterif they just showed tony getting shot in the end there'd be nothing to argue over
>Robert Iler now older than James Gandolfini was when the Sopranos first airedIt's so over bros
>>215505624He still looks like a little boy lol
HIM
>>215502971This. Doesn't matter if he was killed or not, this is the real reason.
