>movie clowned on for being nothing but boobies>It's actually fucking kino
>>215504103I still remember the first time I watched it.>Go on trip with mom and sisters to grandma and grandpa's house. Be about ten years old.>Had an inflatable mattress to beside the couch, right in front of grandma's old skool big screen tv>My mom had the couch>Everybody else was going to bed in other rooms>Getting late, but me and were night owls.>She found Heavy Metal on tv (edited of course)>I guess she remembered it from years past>We sat up watching itIt was comfy.
>>215504338I always fell asleep during the opening sequence and I just decided to finally watch it.I too remember the CRT glow. I feel like it was meant to be enjoyed in that format.
>>215504422It made an impression on my me at that age. I always enjoyed watching sci-fi and Godzilla movies as a kid. I would watch them late at night all the time. This was waaay back when TNT still had MonsterVison on weekend nights. But I never seen such a mature take on science fiction before. I loved it. I agree about the old cathode ray tvs. They had a certain charm.
I had a friend in middle school who, somehow, was able to get copies of movies that we weren't supposed to have. He'd have slumber parties, wait for his parents to go to sleep, then he'd break out one of these movies. This is how I saw the Cheech & Chong movies, as well as "Stripped To Kill" (as close to porno as we could get in those days), and of course, "Heavy Metal". Nowadays, you can buy it on Blu-Ray, but back in the day, it was really difficult to get a copy. My only one for years was an nth-generation videotape. Finally, it re-aired on Cinemax, and a friend had that channel, so I asked them to program their VCR to record it. After years of waiting, I finally had a decent copy. Thank you for joining me in my trip down memory lane.
This movie's S/T is kino afWITH YOUR ONE-WAY TICKET TO MIDNIGHTCALLINGHEAVY METAL
>>215504995I kinda miss those days. It was rare when you got to see shit your parents wouldn't let you watch. There was an economy built around porn VHS tapes with me and my crew. Good times.
>>215504103South Park made it look way better than it actually was. It's good, sure, but it should've been more like South Park's interpretation.
>>215504338Me and my cousins secretly watched my uncle's vhs while he was asleepI recently watched Heavy Metal 2000 for first time and it was terrible
>>215505163>Can't show boobs on a woman on TV>Make literally everything else boobsQuite funny desu
>>215505163I just want metal and boobs.
>>215505201The sequel was awful. An insult to the spirit of the original.I wish they would have included this in da movie.https://youtu.be/miar5eKG4uY
>>215504103Opening gives me insane intense agp fantasies to this day.
>>215504103Correct. It’s always been kino with one of the greatest title tracks of all time by Don Felder. I love the OG magazine from the late 70’s early 80’s as well.
>>215504103>Ugh, just boobs and mindless for manchildren! Doesn't even pass the Bechdel test.
>>215505357Dare I ask why?
>>215505163Well, I sure hope so. South Park had, what, 27 years to improve on it?
>>215505543It was the first time I saw boobies in a taboo way but also I was so young I still idolized action heroes, and the scene was a combination of both so it did strange things to my kid brain I still haven't recovered from.
>>215505543oh, yeah i'm mistaken it's not the actual into but the "Taarna" story towards the end
>>215504103Of course it was kino, I don't know that people mocked or hated that movie. If you liked it read the real comic serie about Den, he is constantly naked but it's still epic.
STERNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
>>215505488Smelly dumb ESL scum
>>215505488Who cares what she thinks? She's not even into dudes.
>>215506402Imagine how I felt when I was 7 and my grandma took me to the theater to see "Fantasia". I will never forget the topless centaur girls. I looked around surreptitiously to see if anyone else was reacting to it; no one seemed to be. This began a series of inappropriate actions with older girls.
>>215506532Okay, that makes sense. I can understand that.
>>215506929sounds like a fun discovery
>>215504103People clown on Heavy Metal? I thought pretty much everyone (even you miserable pricks) thinks it's a good time.
>>215507093I never hated on it. For me, it's kino.
>>215506929I've tried to find the uncensored original (((racist))) version for years. Please tell me someone has Fantasia in its original cut.
>>215504103There was a tv show based on the same comic book, it was pretty cheap and lasted only 2 seasons. I liked it.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stHsQEM0k5g
Taarna deserved her own animated series.
>>215507093Sam Hyde said he liked it on his stream a couple months ago.
