>abandons his wife to die
>>
>>215506219
thanks for the spoiler
>>
>>215506219
SPOILER!!!!!!!! I had only watched one episode of this shit
>>
>>215506219
Yeah I hated that season finale. Like what was the plan? What kind of life do you expect to have loose in the fucking facility? How long before they’re caught?
>>
greatest /tv/ thread of all time
>>
>>215506219
S2 was so fucking retarded.
>>
season 2 was the great filter
>>
>>215506582
>>215506648
Stiller quit the show. Wtf happened behind the scenes, does anyone have a qrd? S2 was jarring to watch, did they replace the writers or something?
>>
>>215506582
>What kind of life do you expect to have
none. as far as innie-Mark is concerned, they're going to delete him like they did Irv. this was basically a "if I'm going to die, I want to spend whatever time I have left with the person I love" decision for him
>>
>>215506704
Ben Stiller quote;
>Sometimes creatively, it’s been the questions of, ‘Which way do we go with it?’ I really believe the show comes out of the different creative perspectives of the people who work on it.

Dan Erickson created the show, but Mark Friedman executive produced the first season with Stiller. Erickson did not get along well with Friedman and there was heavy tension in the writers room because they had different ideas on where to take the show. He wasn't going to come back for season 2, but Stiller couldn't find anyone better so they like begrudgingly worked together for one more season and it's what people blamed for the disjointed pacing. It's honestly all just rumor garbage lol but there are actual articles you can read on it & these are the points I hear repeatedly here and in different places e.g. reddit

>Season 1 had an episode 10 written but they decided to end on the "she's alive" cliffhanger, both for tension and budgetary reasons. The season 2 episode 1 we got is *not* the same script, it's totally different
>There were heavy post-writer strike rewrites and like ~40% of what we're seeing in S2 is from rewrites, you can tell from stuff like Huang aging or Milchick getting fatter lol
>Friedman is responsible for stuff like the Whole Mind Collective and wanted to shift the show in that direction, Erickson was more fond of the weird surreal stuff like the Marching Band and most of season 2

For Season 3 they hired the House of Cards guy and I think a couple of other less notable writers to fill out the writers room, Mark Friedman is perma gone.

Then Stiller quit the show unironically to make a serious holocaust WW2 movie this isn't a joke he's doing it because he feels like Jews are under attack. He wants to focus on that in his years before retirement instead of Severance full time.

what is a severance
>>
>>215506886
Thanks, that is wild. I thought Apple would have more discipline in this regard since they aren’t traditional Hollywood but it seems like quality control doesn’t matter to tech firms like Amazon or Apple when it comes to media output
>>
>>215506886
cant let a good thing just be huh
>>
>>215506745
But we know they can’t be deleted. We know Irv was still in there after he was fired. We know that the severance chip can be activated remotely and it has happened multiple fucking times now.
He was unironically better off on the outside

>jews don’t control the media
>”jews are under attack, I must make another holocaust movie”
Oh boy the conspiracy theorists are gonna go wild with that one

Season 2 was the same level of disappointment as Westworld season 2. Except where Westworld went with a walking dead approach, severance went for boring establishing shots, minutes of silence, dialogue that went no where, and revelations with no impact. The episode where whatsername went to her old town and was secretly a genius that helped create severance was the worst.

The Marching Band was the most plebbit shit imaginable. If Friedman and Stiller are gone, this show is so fucked.
>>
>>215507104
The marching band and dance party and weird orgy people are what makes it worth sitting through the shitty genius minority/gay/women plots.

>The marching band and dance party
False equivocation. The dance party works because we've all worked at some company that forced its employees to engage in some compulsory "fun activity" or other. The marching band, on the other hand, triggers everyone's inner autist and begs the question of why there's an entire fucking wing devoted to Severed band members. Its inclusion was blatant fan service to the types of shitty fans who latch on to the wrong show elements and want a "bigger and better" version of them.

If stiller's out I'm out

apple is going to be really sorry
>>
the weirdest tonal shift in season 2 was mark suddenly being a godlike figure in lumon's lore and an integral part of their plan. so bizarre. there were no hints to that in the first season, he seemed like collateral.
>>
>>215507396
Cobel being obsessed with mark from episode 1 wasn’t a hint?
>>
>>215507319
Why were there Severance employees dedicated to giving "waffle parties" in the first season?

why assume that any of the performers are severed? wouldn't it make more sense for them to be like management, and not be severed so that they're better able to manipulate the severed employees?

It was a hint that she was a loony. Anything else is a retcon.

What were they thinking?
>>
>>215509062
No. They go to work thinking they have a normal office job but they're actually prostitutes for the other employees.

>>215509773
She obviously didn’t. If she did she would be one of the most powerful people in Lumen but she’s lower than milchick

For the White woman so he can have non-Elliot Rodger sons.
>>
Season 2 was so incredibly fucking stupid. From the very first episode the writing just didnt make any sense whatsoever. A fucking night and day difference from the first season which felt original and clever.
>>
The moment the kid showed up and was in charge of something I knew the second season was going to be disappointing schlock. Shark jumped so hard

lmao remember how she got a ride there by some dude, and then he waited in the car as she went inside. and then she went to sleep and slept for like 5 hours, while the guy just sat in his car like a retard. and then she woke up as he broke into the house and entered the bedroom and then they started taking drugs together for some reason.
>>
>>215510308
lmao that character had zero impact on anything and was just sent away in the finale
