But there is of course a difference between home movies/amateur videos uploaded to Youtube, even if structured like and has the length of a movie, and films that have had an actual distributor, a film crew and some form of financial backing, even if self-published/funded, to get an actual theatrical/home video/streaming release which is what people associate "real movies" as being, unless you want to make the case that The Room isn't a real movie. However, the majority of found footage films would fall under this category.
