I dont normally watch it. Not watched actual TV for nearly 3 decades. I do like the story of IT so had hoped this could be OK. Most I normally do is watch mini series, but occasionally I watch a short spanned multi series TV show.

Monster Baby is a spawn of It. The opening scene kind of portrays this with the literal birth of it with Pennywise present (the daughter in the car) and explains it's likely a result of mutation or radiation from the brief radio newscast.

It is present in the episode. The daughter in the car, the voice in the drain, and the boy in the screen of the theater. Why is It doing this? Simple. It's luring the kids in to feed to it's offspring because it's an unstable mutation that It is trying to raise to maybe me like itself and not some mindless killing machine. Further evidence of this being where the boy turns into a clown and holding a baby, It's baby which he releases to kill them.

Army is probably trying to weaponize these things. The book did have eggs laid by It and I'm guessing they were either laying around hatching for who knows how long and one or more were collected by the Army and is currently in the Special Projects. The egg laying could also be a mutation on It as well since It was pregnant in the book Part 2 with eggs already laid. But this is never mentioned in the movie so I'm going with them just laying around. Did you ever see Van Helsing with Hugh Jackman? It's kind of like that with the offspring of Dracula.

It's going to have some twists and the story is going to naturally deepen. But these twists feel like they're going to be something you would pull in a season 3 or 4. If you liked the first, got bored of the second, thought the miniseries overall was just ok, and did at least think the book wasn't a waste of time. Then it's worth a watch. A 7/10 from me.

Kind of feels like this isn't going to work already. Why capture Pennywise when they can steal an egg and domesticated and/or train it or alter it? Drop one in Moscow or Havana and let it do it's thing. From the baby monster this seems more along the lines of what they would go for, kind of like Stranger Things and the Russians trying to weaponize the demi-gorgon. Alien Earth vibes as well which seems like the style for the time.

Hanlon also doesn't seem fearless to me. Not wanting to remember his operation over Korea could be a form of PTSD keeping him from being very afraid, but with family and how he was when he was attacked I don't get the feeling he's fearless. I feel they would have made that clear by now. I don't know what role he plays with Pennywise because it could go either way. Either Hanlon learns about this and is trying to stop the military from using the eggs by planning to destroy the bomber that will drop the eggs, or destroying the eggs before they are loaded on. Pennywises motivation could just be to propagate and spread over the planet and is manipulating and using the military for these ends with radiation and testing. Im leaning more into this theory than perhaps Pennywise wanting to stop it because it's spawn are uncontrollable animals. This conclusion being made later when It realizes they are just killing machines despite it's efforts to teach and raise them.

Town manipulation to kill Hanlon could still happen. Mass mind wipe though? Hmm... military could sweep it's failure under the rug and like pro vax supporters durimg Covid 19 they will probably just naturally forget everything they said or did.

The second half always falls apart because it's inherently less scary when their adults especially when you've just seen the kids beat It in the first part. The reason it works in the book is because they all have amnesia when their adults and the kid chapters are flashbacks that reveal their past as they recover their memories which makes it more and more scary as you gradually realize what's going on and what they're up against. Especially because you dont know how it worked out when they were kods until the very end. The whole reason It's called It in the first place is because it's supposed to be a mystery at the beginning with the adults all getting phone calls and being told: "It's back." and it causing them to panic spiral. You're supposed to be guessing and wondering the whole time going: "What is It? What are they talking about? What could it be?" and since It can shape shift and make their fears come to life like all of It's appearances in the first half of the book are different and you have no idea what It actually is for a good whole intil it all starts coming together.

The only downside is the ending is really annoying because it reaches a point where loke the last fifteen chapters are just seeing what happened on tbe sewer as kids and then word for word the exact same thing happening to them as adults with maybe a throwaway line about "OMG you said that last time! This is crazy!" But I'm sure it would be easier to work out a better ending for the adults then splitting it up and trying to make the second half work under its own merit.

He invested a lot of time and energy into manipulating the citizens of Derry to the point he could eat kids right in front of adults and they wouldn't be aware it's happening so it prime real estate that he just sticks to. Absolutely nothing is keeping him from leaving it but it is implied he is weaker the further he goes from it, what that entails to a teleporting, telepathic, shape shifting, outer god is left unknown.
