>Remains the undisputed best zombie film in your path
>>215517976>my men haven't gooned in 28 hours, Jim
>>215517976forgetting something?
an effective way to filter out npcs is by asking them if they had enjoyed 28 years later. if they say no, then you've successfully identified an npc
The best zombie film of all time... is a Danny Boyle film. Yeah okay retard.
>>215517976t. has seen 5 zombie films
>>215518156this but the other way aroundboyle and garland are political preachy reddit garbage
Not even zombies. Sage.
It insists upon itself
OP posted the wrong image. What a clutz lol.
>>215517976Goes retarded after the first hour.
>>215518156>2.1 on googleIs it that bad?
>>215518263Not really
>>215517976Night of The Living Dead (1990) is the only zombie film that comes close to Romero's original kino trilogy.
>>215518263depends on if you're an npc like the majority of the population
It's not a competitive genre. Romero's first trilogy is now very dated and only good for nostalgia; his second trilogy was always hit. The Snyder films are sometimes stylish but always dumb. World War Z is a bloodless PG-13 effort that goes down the Hollywood route – "It's a about family." Cringe. The Walking Dead is a meandering and repetitive soap opera with fifty spinoffs that are even worse. The Resident Evil films are campy jokes. So maybe 28 Days is the best, but that's like being the tallest dwarf.
>>215517976I would agree if the third act were just as good as the rest of the film. But indeed, the first half of the movie is a masterpiece. Such a rich atmosphere and unique visual style
>>215518331>Romero's first trilogy is now very dated and only good for nostalgiaBraindead take. All three are easily better than 28 Days Later.>The Snyder films are sometimes stylish but always dumb. What Snyder films?>World War Z is a bloodless PG-13 effort that goes down the Hollywood route – "It's a about family." >>215518300They have frankly not aged well
Train to Busan and Shaun of the Dead are better
>>215517998*28 days coomon anon, that like...awhile
>>215518393I don't get the hype for Train
>>215518393Train to Busan is overall a pretty formulaic zombie film that was just executed pretty well, it doesn't do anything truly unique and visionary like 28 days later
>>215517976>best zombie film Thats like being the smartest retard
>>215518447You think 28 Days Later is unique and visionary. 28 Days Later. Christ, this board is so far gone.
>>215518468By zombie movie standards yes.
>>215517976It barely even focuses on the "zombies"
>>215518466Selection of good films is smaller compared to other horror subgenres, but I doubt anyone on this board could name more than two films of my top five zombie films that come to mind.
>>21551797628 years is much better
>>215518503So it's not unique or visionary. Thanks.
>>215518534This thread is a discussion about zombie films, so within the zombie genre it is pretty visionary. Even outside that, the film has a pretty unusual and unique style.
>>215517976nah
>>215518331>is now very datedI don't see how this hasn't become the meme used to make fun of dogshit aspirational faux-criticism. It should replace "it insists upon itself". It means fucking nothing. I have never seen a coherent elaboration. Why even fucking bother showing up if you're just going to say this? Do you have a single criticism of the films that wouldn't have been just as relevant when they were new?>>215518393Busan is comic book shit. 'Practical solutions' oriented film because Koreans are bugs. >>215518468I got out my unique and visionary-ometer and the film got a high reading, so get owned.
>>215518713>It means fucking nothing.Zombie makeup techniques have been vastly improved since the days when Romero could just slap some yellow powder on an actor's face and call it a day. That's one area where his films obviously compare poorly to modern successors.
>>215518780There is no reason to say "the film is dated" when you mean "the makeup effects are poor/primitive". And that's not a time thing. There was no super-technology invented after Dawn of the Dead which changed this. What they tried for it just didn't quite work as intended. Even then that just sort of becomes the film's distinct character. I remember Tom Savini talking about this in a commentary track. How all the colours turned out quite weird on Dawn, but the impression ultimately comes out kind of "comic book". Very vivid reds on blue. Lots of colour for a drab 70s movie.
>>215518331Snyder is such a fucking hack for making batistaslop instead of the proper sequel to his Dawn of the Dead. The original drafts for the script had potential.
>>215518366In what way? This linear view of the quality in tv and film is such a halfwit understanding of what makes them worth watching.
>>215517976This is one of those movies from the genre of "awful fucking sound recording and disgusting peasant British English that you need subtitles on to understand"
>>215518366Some of the effects looked shitty even back then.
>mogged by deadrising
Dawn of the dead 2004 is better
>>215517976It's garbage for garbage people.
true
>>215519928This, it has everything that you expect from a zombie movie. 28 days later have barely any zombie action scene and the third act is just "le human is.....le real monster" bs that will continue to plague the genre for years until it died off somewhere around 2016-2017.
I saw this when it first came out and was stunned
>>215517976it's been whole 28 minutes, Jim. The men must rape.
>>215521425It's all empty calories.
>>215521539Such a dim view of men, but alas...
>>215517976It aged like shit. Maybe in the 2000s it was cool
>>215521599Counterpoint: You've aged like milk, and your stupid little ponytail doesn't hide anything.
