It's okay. Nobody remembers...right? Anons? Right??
>>
>>215518323
I haven’t forgotten, Anon.

>>
>>215518323
Most of the time yes, other people care about you a lot less than you think
>>
>>215518323
Literally no one but you remembers, the problem is you will never forget.
>>
>>215518508
You don’t know that.

NTA but I know that.
>>
>>215518219
Me all the time.
>>
>>215518219
Most people don't remember much about their childhoods but I remember mine in painstaking detail thanks to reinforcing the memories time and time again through repeated remembrance. The good news is that if you can train yourself not to think about it, it really does get better. But you do have to avoid giving in to the seduction of wallowing in the past.
>>
>>215519926
Fun fact everytime you bring up a memory you are altering it. A memory you thought about as a kid will be altered when you think about it as a grown man
>>
>>215518323
The worse ones are those which only you know about.
>>
>>215519963
>Fun fact
Shut the fuck up reddit
>>
>>215519963
Yeah. You're not really remembering something, you're recreating it in your head. No man steps foot into the same river twice and all that.
>>
>>215520097
If 100 guys fucked your sister do you have 100 sisters?
>>
>>215519963
Like that time you thought you won the science fair at school because you're the smartest kid around, but it was actually just you getting molested by your uncle.

For me, it was 11 years ago. A girl in my class's grandfather passed away, so she made a heartfelt tribute post on Instagram for him. The picture she used in the post was of him sleeping in his bed in a dark room, taken from across the room. For some reason, I assumed that the photo had been taken of him after he had died, so, in perhaps my most autistic moment, I commented "why would you post a photo of a dead body to instagram? i don't want to see this" under the post. A few minutes later she replied calling me rude and disrespectful and all that, as well as telling me that the photo was from before he died. I deleted the comment and left a damage control "sorry for your loss" comment and then never interacted with her ever again.

>>
>>215520176
it's alright
If that was me, I'd left that comment there, then stumble on it after 10 years and realize I got it wrong
>>
>>215518219
I lied about playing baseball in high school and had to explain that I only really played t-ball. Everyone laughed.
>>
>>215520176
There was a girl i used to chat with online 20 years ago. She got knocked up but the baby was stillborn. She posted pictures of it on her facebook. I didn't comment but I still think about it.

I dont remember what I did week ago.

>main character remembers that the entire course of his life was decided when he dropped out of highschool over an emo girl who rejected him
>he had a private social media meltdown in her dms that people close to her probably knew about and the next year her best friend had a locker right next to his by pure chance
this writing felt contrived, like just by chance his entire second year is set up to be complete misery because of who his neighboring locker owner is?

i try to remember all cringe and embarrassing moments in my life, rather than suppress it from memory.
keeps me in check. i accept all the botched steps that made me who i am today, for worse or worst.

Try 35 years ago.
I was a small child. But it still makes me cringe.
>>
>main character discovers 13 years later after the fact that that girl actually did like him and wasn't setting him up

Goddamn, seeing that Facebook post on my wall and remembering me not responding out of fear because I didn't want her to just make fun of me like the other girls did.

>girl who I'm not really attracted to but who always was trying to hang out with me in highschool while I was being a fucking loner eating lunch alone in some corner or whatever messages me and asks me what I'm doing and says we should hang out, and I say "well what would we do" and she says "uhh, we could have sex, if you wanted??"
>I have a panic attack and go rifling through different family members drawers in the house trying to find condoms
>come back and respond "haha you're kidding right?"
>she responds basically "u-um y-yeah I was kidding, o-of course but... only because I have a b-boyfriend"
phew, crisis averted
>>
>>215519964
Yeah I agree. Embarrassing moments in front of your friends, and even acquaintances, can be laughed off later in good spirits. But when you embarrass yourself among strangers it hurts more because you know that the only time you ever appeared in their lives was being a pathetic loser.
>t. vomited after drinking too much vodka and Sprite at a house party I got +1'd to when I was 16 years old and ran off into the night alone out of shame
>>
>>215520818
Anon that’s not bad at all. You were 16.
Grown adults puke while drinking, if you were 26 it’d be funny in a spaghetti out of pocket way.
Be easy with yourself anon

Dude, I've done way more embarrassing shit than that while drunk. I've had to cut people out of my lives after simply because I couldn't face them after how I humiliated myself.
