What am I in for?
>>215518993What even is the plot of this?
>>215518993A shitty BSG remake knock-off with slow motion montages of somber music while crises happen, soap opera plots, and forced love triangles where they push the two biggest charisma vacuums in the ensemble cast at the forefront.Robert Carlyle, Louis Ferreira, and Lou Diamond Phillips carry hard until the writers start having a few decent sci-fi plots so it can get decent before cancelation.Still an alright show for all its negatives.
A solid show that fizzles out into tedium. The Stargate series is a television time capsule and this is an important part of it. The first series is your 90s style traditional episodic series. Atlantis bridges the gap. And Universe is your modern tv every episode is part of the larger season/series long continuity.

A lot of shouting. But our destiny was the friends we made along the way. And then it all be the cancel.
>>215518993Utter and complete garbage. Normal Stargate knew it's place and survived on being inoffensive background noise you only occasionally paid attention to, mostly carried by Anderson and Judge for those moments. This garbage actually thought it could make a real show and fell on it's ass because of it. Also horrid cast.
>>215521099thisi was not surprised when i read that this show was canceled boring and stupid fucking shit
>>215519920That's the thing, you don't.
>>215521099What kind of fucking assessment is that? Should anyone care about the analysis of someone for whom the show is background noise?
its actually quite good with much higher IQ occult themes and hidden history (that actually started late in SG1 and continued in SGA) but it filters the mouth breathers on this board because they just want pew pew with the lowest IQ plot points as possible so they can follow it.The massive khazar milkers are a real bonus treat
>>215519412
>>215518993That show was criminally underrated
>everyone complained>2nd half of season 2 showed signs of recovery>bonkThe black guy and the chinese girl actually become friends for example.
>>215518993Strong beginning, abysmal middle, okay ending. Then S2 starts and it's actually good and keeps getting better and just when you think they found their stride it stops.

>>215518993A show that sucks for a season and a half. Basically Beverly Hills 90210…then when it finally finds its footing and starts getting good…it was cancelled. there really isn’t a point to watching it at all. It’s completely independent of the other two shows.
>>215522268Oh yeah, they also have magic rocks so they can go back to earth whenever they want.
Conceptually it's really cool. You're trapped on an ancient, heavily deteriorated alien starship that you can't control and is taking you further and further away from your home. You have limited resources and your knowledge of the ship's technology is basic at best and you have several mouths to feed. Given to a competent staff this could have been great, but they fucked it all up because they were trying too hard to be BSG.
>>215522250>it even does the shaky fake handheld camera thingMan they were not subtle about how hard they were copying BSG. The only thing this shot is missing is a zoom and focus.
>>215522083Me in my goon chair
>>215522250It's one of the spaceships of all times, it belongs on the charts and in my mind rent free. This intro instantly fascinated me and despite the entire show i still just want to get on board of that ship.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1DXmSCimECI
>>215522366RIP the brave cameramen of SGU. Float in honor forever kings.
>>215522366What more is there to say, it looks cool
>>215522923Such fantastic aesthetics wasted on a lackluster first season.
The indie music montages get old after about the second one. Why was that such a trend for a long time?
>>215523182It was the style at the time. Very CW.
>>215523182To unwind psychologically, facilitate the return to reality after an episode. It's smooth film making.
>>215522345I preferred the uncontrollable rust bucket concept, once they start being able to steer it some charm in the setting was lost but it would have made for a cool zero to hero story if it had been allowed to continue. Like in HW Cataclysm, in fact i found SGU kind of Homeworld-esque.

Actually it was pretty good. More on the vein of Battlestar Galactica. It should have gone on longer. Especially when you consider the state of sci fi now. Would rewatch

probably not worth watching desu. It wasn't awful, I honestly defended this show when it was airing, but it ends unresolved and was what killed Stargate as a franchise unfortunately. They tried too hard to make it more of a drama like Battlestar and have a darker tone. The main issue was the communication stones. They could have found another way for them to contact Earth again that wasn't adding soap opera elements.
This is what Destiny intended from the moment it entered the star system.

>half the cast is insufferable >too much personal drama, not enough sci fi>it's everything the same writers made fun of in the Hot Teen Show sequence in SG1 (they even have a pregnant chick, come on now)>the Lucian Alliance are too laughable to be taken seriously >too much pissing around instead of plot
>>215526317There's too much drama but there also sci-fi every other episode. Timeloop planet, frozen planet, alien on board, EVA into space debris, gate lore, space maneuvers, drones, blue aliens of which i'm pretty sure there's one browsing this thread.
>>215526673The blue alien and drone plots go nowhere, frustrating

>>215526731>>215526673yeah berzerker drones are such a cool concept that i'm not sure we've ever gotten in tv sci-fi, would have definitely enjoyed the show explore it more.i can't feel too bad about the cancelation though, that first season was so fucking lame. i understand why it couldn't recover from that.
>>215526731None of the plots go anywhere in the end now, do they. For this show it was an idea to leave the enemies behind each season. It was episodic by nature, the plotline of the ship would have remained the only constant.

>>215518993A show with a rocky start that got cancelled the moment it started to figure itself out. Many such cases. If your into the expanded lore of Stargate, it's fine, but the character drama (especially with the fucking body-swap stones) in season 1 gets old real quick.

>>215532105>waaah I'm so sad all the time worst stargate commander
Surfs up dude
>>215532251I like him. He's way out of his depth, he's not a natural leader like o'neill or sheppard, he was basically the commander of base security thrust into a position where he had like 100 people he had to protect because he was the ranking officer, all whilst not having a base to retreat to like o'neill or sheppard, all whilst having a fucked up family life back on earth. In SG-1 you would've gotten few sad scenes about a character like this, then ti's back to witty quips, making fun of the moustache twirling bad guy of the week. The more adult tone of SGU is what makes it my favourite of the trio. Or something.
Air 3 drags its fine as a intro to the show but on repeat watching its awful and bland lmao
The design is clearly Ancient
