there's a lot of humour in Lynch's works. parts of Twin Peaks and Wild at Heart are just straight up comedy, but it tinges most of his work.

I was at an Eraserhead screening with a couple of friends and the only other people there was this fat zoomer couple, about 17 or something. They'd laugh at most scenes and as we were walking out of the theatre, I heard the guy go "it was kinda like The Grand Budapest Hotel but darker" shit made me want to vomit.

Lynch is THE open to interpretation director and clearly uses intentional humour all the fucking time, even in his darkest films.

The anniversary screening I went to for back to the future was one of my best cinemagoing experiences, but then again that was in 2010 IIRC, so things might have changed since then, the terminator 1 screening I went to was awful since I had a weirdo following me around the premises after the movie was over talking to me as if I was an expert on the terminator franchise when I had never seen a terminator movie before, and saying stuff like "wasn't it very wholesome when Sarah and Kyle had sex? :)"
