I was disappointed in it. I wanted a movie all about the bombs but instead it was 70% about Oppenheimer himself and quite frankly I found the story of his life to be boring.

It was a fun movie but they absolutely added tension from the spy/commie angle more than what had occurred during the initial project. Which is weird because they were all EXTREMELY concerned about Nazi progression towards a fission bomb. In this they have a throw away line about Germany never being able to build a bomb because they’re antisemitic. In reality they were fucking panicking and that’s why shit like bombing the Norwegian heavy water plant happened, although in hindsight yeah Germans were pretty far off. They didn’t know that then though. Same thing with McCarthyism in the Cold War - they also didn’t really anticipate that. Just a weird vibe through the movie.

Just focus on the actual geniuses panic-inventing their way to a bomb as spy shit slows the nazis down until they can finally hand it off for bombers to fight their way into Japan to drop it. It's 3 different tones, but the actual movie had like 5, so it's actually better and would justify the runtime.
