Why isn't the Pirates trilogy talked about as much as LotR and the Prequels? It outsold them on DVD but it never gets talked about these days.

Those stats aren't released and those that are are unreliable.Lotr trilogy is 1 self contained bubble that remains 9/10 throughout and filmed together in 1 placePotc whilst good is 3 disconnected movies that weren't even meant to be a trilogy with vastly different themes and quality and production style.Potc 1 is a steady 8/10 but sometimes hard to rewatch as it's quite dull at times and is a chore to get through when you know what's going to happenPotc 2 is the same, difficult to rematch and probably a 7/10 on average with parts being quite badPotc is totally different made by different people different budget and probably a 6.5/10 on average

However it's not as high quality a trilogy, LOTR trilogy doesn't have a bad film and is just parts of the one story. COTBP is sensational but the films get weaker with every subsequent entry and it ends on a pretty weak and forgettable note even if the third movie is still decent.
