Are you ready for jap anime slop to take over cinema?
>>
>slop
the west wishes it could create series like the japs
.
>>
>>215521254
They’ve been soft launching this shit for years. I knew it was over when I saw the Tolkien estate allowed Amazon to make a LOTR anime.
>>
>>215521254
Ready? it's been happening for years nigga
>>
>>215521254
Hopefully. I don't watch anime at all because I hate the troops, but the Japanese aren't pozzed and kike'd yet.
>>
>>215521309
Tolkiens grandkids or great grandkids will agree to anything. the hobbit's copyright is up in 2032 and all 3 LotR books are 2049 and 2050 so expect a bunch of sloppa while the sloppa is good
>>
>>215521309
Lord of the Rings deserves a good adaptation. I wouldn't expect it to be good but it can't be worse than what there already is.
>>
>>215521440
Kys, the Peter Jackson adaptations are pretty much the best movie adaptation you can realistically imagine

Yes. Frankly I am baffled it took the japs this long to conclude that there exist gorillions of anime fans outside their islands that are happy to fork over money for their products. Considering the cheap animating cost, there things are bound to turn up huge profits. Seriously they shit out animated films at like 3-10% percentage of the production budgets of disney or pixar and it took them all this time to realize that maybe they could be competive in the international film market.
>>
>>215521535
Plus the Japanese economy is in the shit so money from the West is more valuable.

Here's the value of dollar/yen over 5 years
>>
>>215521254
>80% from Japan
Nope. That shit remains niche except for the one anime that made like 600m this year

>>
>>215521585
Even that other anime that made $600M, nearly all of its revenue came from Asia by at least 85% with Japan making up majority of it while the West only made up 15%. You can even look at the performance and see it dropped by 75% in its second week, fans came but mainstream never did. So it's also a niche.
>>
mappa would undisputed goats if they somehow make csm part 2 into a coherent story

high chance they'll just drop it

>>

Even so it made 130m in the US alone. That's something that not many american movies manage today.

>>

I think there's a world where you take real creative liberties with Part 2 to make it work, and not feel like something that was being made up week to week. There's a decent romance buried in there if you excise all the shit Fujimoto piled on that ultimately doesn't really matter

They've been trying to infect the localization teams, moderately succeeding in some form, and also trying to make anime/manga more (((inclusive))) with consultation groups just like they've been doing for vidya, but this part has proved to be a bit harder to subvert since the industry still aims to target the Japanese fans first, unlike jap vidya which has abandoned the local market almost entirely.

>>
>>215522697
That's normal for anime movies. They're frontloaded by fans who show up for opening day and make the most money on opening day followed by a steep decline. Anime fans are extremely good at showing up early.
>>
>>215523920
Most of the manga was written years after the movie as an alternate take on the premise. So it's not like they cut the manga short to adapt it in one movie.
>>
>>215521535
>>215521576
still not really any way to support the anime industry besides overpriced bds, crunchyroll (which sucks) and anime films like this. piracy is still ultimately the only sane way to consume the vast majority of anime in the west and that is unlikely to change anytime soon.
>>
>$4.1M budget
This shit is literally based on one online Japanese article
And the article doesn't even say the budget is 4.1M
The point of that article was to explain ''Box Office to Break Even'' and it just says ''if the production cost is about ¥600 Million ($4.1 Million) and the advertising cost is about ¥250 Million ($1.7 Million), the movie needs ¥2.15 Billion ($14.7 Million) to break even''

The miscommunication between English and Japanese online is insane

That's not how you measure the health of an economy, ever wondered why the US forced Japan to appreciate their currency with the plaza accord in the 80s and that caused the japanese economy to go to shit? The golden age of japanese growth and prosperity had a very weak Yen, it made the US very mad so they had to stop it.
Ever wondered why the US gets mad at china for pegging its currency at allegedly too low levels and accuses them of currency manipulation?

Realistically, we're just going to get terrible live-action anime adaptations, and disney-like anime-inspired animations that completely miss the point because they can't understand the idea of an animation having blood/mature themes.

>>215521535
The story I've heard a lot of times is that in the 90s and 00s, they literally didn't care about markets outside of Japan. So they'd license these shows away for basically no money and not care at all if they were butchered. Hence funimation and 4kids

2 separate movements.
>Gradually from ~1998 to 2006
Programs like Pokemon, Dragonball Z, Yu-Gi-Oh and Gundam Wing introduced anime to millions of impressionable kids. These kids then grew up with a soft spot for it.
>Aggressively between ~2012 to 2016
Shows like Kill La Kill specially (and older things like Death Note) were in the centre of online nerd """culture""" (arguably because all the kids from above had grown up) and talked about so frequently that anime basically rode the coattails of nerd culture itself becoming mainstream.
>>
>>215525862
Japan is an industrial export economy.
Weak currency is good for those economies because they made exports more competitive.
Japan's issue for the last 30 years has been that China and Korea and Taiwan all are able to undercut it on the export market.
This devaluation is not necessarily going to lead to Japan seeing economic rebirth, but it also isn't a death knell.
