>>215521521>also technology in Star Wars has been stagnant for thousands of years. This is such a gay retconWe literally see the various factions developing new technology and weapons systems and revamping existing models throughout the course of the 6 movies. We see the ARC 180 starfighters turn into X-wings, those little Jedi fighters turn into TIEs, the clone ATTEs turn into Imperial Walkers, etc.
>>215521843Thanks, may Zeus Olympiakos bless you.
>>215521898It's repurposed, it never really progresses. The idea of a wunderwaffe for the Empire is to make a turbolaser, just biggerer. It's not a retcon because in Star Wars, Obi Wan reminisces about lightsabers being elegant weapons from a more civilized age, then he goes on about the jedi existing for a thousand generations. It is a bit ambiguous but it's there.
>>215521923>OMG lazer thwordh and latherth imma cum
>>215521468The original Stormtroopers were actually special troops designed to fight in the vacuum of space during boarding actions, hence the "armor" (space suit) and their name. Later, they turn into the standard troops of the Empire. Only in the Disney era were the Imperial Army (non-storm troopers) made canon. No, the units we see in ESB and ROTJ were officers or naval crew.
>>215521923> shooting at enemy> run towards him Don’t they know they can shoot from far away with a gun?
>>215522111>It's repurposed, it never really progresses.>there is no technological innovation involved in turning a handheld laser weapon into a military installation that can destroy entire planetsagain, terrible retcon>It's not a retcon because in Star Wars, Obi Wan reminisces about lightsabers being elegant weapons from a more civilized age, then he goes on about the jedi existing for a thousand generations. It is a bit ambiguous but it's there. That doesn't make it not a retcon. Obi Wan is just saying what we see in the prequels, that magical space wizards used lightsabers as their personal weapons of choice. The Jedi, unlike everyone else in the galaxy, get stronger via cultivating their force powers, not creating high-powered weapons and armor. They have no need to develop new technology. That doesn't mean no one else will without them.

This has always been my problem with the design of clone armor and why I'll always prefer Stormtroopers. Clone armor was not designed to be worn by real people. You cannot even remove the helmet on the phase 1 clone armor. They are designed to be CGI only.
>>215523482Anon read >>215521586

>>215523484The thing is, it could actually have worked in Live Action, but they would have needed to redesign the armor and helmet. Something that Disney has no problem to do with Marvel, but with Srar Wars are puritanically retarded (in the aesthetics deparment, the lore one gets constantly graped).
>>215523542The Phase 3 (stormtrooper) is very stupid too, not just the body armor, but also the helmet, it has the same vibes that Family Guy's jaws (Peter's balls reference, Quagmire's).
>>215523602I disagree, you can't redesign it for live action because for all purposes the cgi was live action in a sense. That is how the troopers are supposed to look in a live action setting surrounded by other physical and non physical objects and characters. You could keep the proportions but you'd have to find a daniels sized super skinny guy
>>215523645the implication of a strong jaw is part of the design, yes. the og stormtroopers dont get enough credit for how well thought out they are. and its actually real which instantly makes it superior to clones even if the thigh plates jab you in the hips when you try to sit down.
>>215523677>You could keep the proportions but you'd have to find a daniels sized super skinny guy >anon didn't read Clone Wars comics (before the 2008 show-slop), were clones are war-machine supersoldiers and ARC are a bigger, more muscular, more ripped, taller (really taller) version of them
>>215523771Yeah the comics are almost always off-model. That's why to get it on-model per the prequels, you'd need some scrawny freak assembled into his armor like c3po like the other anon is talking about.
>>215523771I did, I even own that action figure of the arc trooper lol. It's never been in live action though and besides like you said is not a "normal" clone trooper and is irrelevant to my point

>>215523482And yet it's completely worthless against the only weapon anyone in the Star Wars universe ever uses: the blaster.
>>215523795>>215523820Well, someone (me) can argue that since the whole concept of the clonetrooper is to have the best soldier of an ENTIRE hyper-advanced galaxy, you would exoect some genetic modifications that actually show them being better than robots and professional soldiers.
>>215523856Yeah they made Jango do it himself and they averted their eyes like proper Christians.
>>215523989I think you are misunderstanding the conversation a bit. We are trying to figure out how to make Clone Troopers look like how they did in the prequels except with real actors and not CGI. If we were trying to make them look like some pulpy comic book then that would be a different goal.
>>215523856>be kaminoan, advanced soecies that has done eugenics for millennia >have human specimen to study (Jango Fett) >have entire librarians and data of different species' anatomies>according to the lore, the ultra-advanced xeno can't understand basic human anatomy Why Star Wars lore is so lame and cringe?
>>215524033>according to the lore>>215523856youve been promoted.
>>215523699Anon, the mouth of the helmet is where the nose of the soldier is. Not very good design. If you want a cool powerful helmet, check Chaos Terminator's one.

>>215524033>Why Star Wars lore is so lame and cringe? So you like the tranny clones, the bio chips, disable clones, and female clones created from a male's dna? In pre-disney star wars, kaminoans were still limited on what they could do. They only created human body parts or clone works prior to Pleaguis funding them. They weren't even confident to make Yinchorri clones because they fear they would all nog out. They agreed to work on humans because it was easier for them.
>>215524012I see. My apologies.I still think Live Action could work in both cases.

>>215524233Jango isn't superhuman. Pretty sure only specialist clones are ever superhuman and even then its more often a training/equipment thing than making them into John Halo.
>>215521468The Upper Chest plate of Phase 1 actually had more protection compared to phase 2 and Stormtrooper armor.
>>215524186>So you like the tranny clones, the bio chips, disable clones, and female clones created from a male's dna? No, I hate all that. I want pre-2008 clones back (Tartakovsky's CW were the real deal).
>>215524202I think once all the old actors finally die off, copyright starts obsolescing and AI entertainment starts taking over, you will certainly get your super clone content.
>>215524540Me too, reminder that in pre-tcw, the kaminoans would "recycle" what I listed.
>>215524519phase 1 and 2 had the same turtle shell.
The Droid army is better.
>>215524378>Jango isn't superhuman.Correct. But if you rewatch Ep II and read its novelization, you can see how the Chancellor of Kamino explain to Kenobi that ALL clones (except Boba) have their DNA modified. There was one that was basically Jango's version of Khârn (same musculature, same psychosis). It's kinda sad and a wasted of potential that SW never pushed into the lovecraftian aspect of genetic modifications in films, shows nor games.
>>215524519>>215524642I always found hilarious how the chest armor "tits" give the feel the trooper suffers from gynecomastia.
>>215524545>AI entertainment starts taking over, you will certainly get your super clone content.I hope you will be correct, anon.>'UNLIMITED KINO.' - Palp
>>215523989The Kaminoan's saw the clones as perfect because they were a hyper-discplined, fearless and robotic army (without being as goofy as the droids) who obey orders without questions. By the time of the Prequels from an out-universe perspective there wasn't much more material regarding pre OT era. So the idea of an obdient war machine like the Clones who became the blueprient for the Stormtrooper was a novel idea in-universe. After all, before Old Republic Stuff appeared the clones were the first professional and organic Army in the galaxy. Realistically speaking it's pretty stupid as real life didn't need genetically modified Soldiers for a professional and highly disciplined army, but Star was was always silly in worldbuilding. But power creep and Lore bloat kinda destroyed the idea. And TCW turning the clones into generic humans with quirks didn't help either.
>>215524674Sadly, films and shows (specially the Filoni-slop) ruined that army too (F for Tartakovsky's Grievous).
>>215524719>wasted of potential that SW never pushed into the lovecraftian aspectEh I don't think that belongs with the story being told in the Lucas movies specifically but that's what the EU is for right?
>>215524783>And TCW turning the clones into generic humans with quirks didn't help either.Funny how low-T phags and women feel that is "giving clones uniqueness and personality", because how wants a super-army doing super-cool things in literal WAR when you can have literal SOLDIERS talking about "muh feelings" and "muh moral code" against *check notes* a droid army, right?
>>215524846I wouldn't even attribute this to the Troons and women, at that point they were not relevant to both the Fandom and the creators of star wars media. The actual cause appears to be the ineptitude of the TCW-writers to characterise the clones without neglecting their identity as disciplined Soldiers.
>>215521697>hating on hyperspace hoopla shiggy
>>215521744Your brain is absolutely melted by /pol/, holy fuck
>>215524899>I wouldn't even attribute this to the Troons and womenAnon, you better don't check who is the dominant partner in the Filoni marriage and what fetish has Filoni with wolfs. >The actual cause appears to be the ineptitude of the TCW-writers to characterise the clones without neglecting their identity as disciplined Soldiers.TCW could having the BROist BROlesome show of all times (which actually could help young men's mental health and promote good values like brotherhood and camaraderie) and instead it became what we current saw. At this point if the action (specially military) film / show / game I'm watching or playing does not have a BRO moment, I'm not watching / playing it anymore.
>>215524899The whole "humanizing the clones" gimmick ignores that non-clone were fighting on both sides of the conflict. TCW poisoned the well so much that people now think that the Clone Wars was solely a Clone vs Droid thing.
>>215525355Ep II and III didn't help either, the only non-clones we see in both films were jedi and geonosians.Imagine being George Lucas, having your own budget to do whatever crazy-cool-badass-epic-awesomeness you want and reduce 2 entire films of a saga called Star WARS into groomed kid graped by cougar senator ruins the entire galaxy for 2:30h.At this point it should be renamed as Star Dramas, Star Nothingburgers, Star Retcons or Star Mysteryboxes.
>>215521923Some deer hunters from Arkansas would kill every single person on both sides of this in about 30 seconds.
>>215525456>Ep II and III didn't help either, the only non-clones we see in both films were jedi and geonosians.Padme is neither a clone nor a Geonosian.
>>215525542Damn, just one normal character in the entire 2 films, also *check notes* is a pedo politician whose actress is israeli. What was George Lucas trying to tell us?
Clones were just a means by which George could have his colourful Star War without the pain and loss of a real war. On the one side we have an an army of insensate droids whose destruction does not matter, on the other side an army of cloned automatons – basically organic droids – whose deaths are just as easily disregarded. It's okay, kiddies, no real people are dying here. This was gay. George trusted that the children of the 1970s-80s could process the deaths of thousands of human bad guys without being traumatised. He even killed an ewok, too. But when it came to the prequels, he wanted the large-scale battles to be softened by the inhumanity of their combatants. And the weird thing is that even as he toned down the violence of the wars, he turned UP the violence of the smaller clashes between individuals. Maul gets chopped in half; Dooku is beheaded; Anakin has his remaining limbs chopped off and is left to burn and scream; and more extreme than anything in the prequels, Anakin kills little kids with his lightsaber. So, George's approach to violence in these films was muddled to say the least. And he should have explained in RotS that clones and stormtroopers are not the same thing. The explanation is only given in spinoffs. People who only watch the films are left confused by what seems to be an inconsistent backstory for stormtroopers.

>>215526478if you replace the working parts you get a different machine
>>215526606I think you're just arguing to argue. like the basic Stormtrooper, they have a decent cooling/warming body glove but it's not specialized for the extreme cold nor extreme heat. Biker scouts have better suits for cold, obviously, but not up to Snowtrooper levels. The Beach troopers in Rogue One, whatever they're called, you'll see that they have larger units on their backs, they look like air conditioning units basically, whereas the basic Stormtrooper has some kind of rechargeable battery unit, to power the suit. Biker scouts have a much larger battery unit on their backs, to last way much longer out in the field, in more remote locations. Lucas tells you all this with visual design.

>>215525728clones are humanized in the movies, retard. Obi Wan was literally bantering and shooting the shit with a bunch of him right before they siege Utapau. Their lack of humanity stems from them not getting a lot of screen time, but that's true of all star wars mooks. The cannon fodder grunts don't get a lot of focus because star wars is a grand mythological epic about heroes and villains duking it out. It doesn't have time for mooks. In terms of the actual humanity and characterization shown, clones don't fare any worse than the regular human stormtroopers.I remember being shocked when my dad told me that when he watched ANH when it first came out, he thought the stormtroopers were robots. I thought it was weird because how could anyone who is a fan of star wars not know that they were humans? But if you watch ANH without the added context of EU novels, video games, tv shows, wookipedia, action figures with detachable helmets, etc., it might not be too much of a stretch to conclude that they're not people because they spend most of the movie just following orders and shooting at the good guys.>And he should have explained in RotS that clones and stormtroopers are not the same thing. The explanation is only given in spinoffs. People who only watch the films are left confused by what seems to be an inconsistent backstory for stormtroopers. It's implied by the fact that they're no longer called clones, and by Obi Wan's dialog in ANH where he and luke remark on the clone wars as being an old and bygone thing.

My favourite books were the anthologies that told the stories of background characters seen in the films – Tales from Jabba's Palace, Tales of the Bounty Hunters – because they pulled away a little from the central current of the EU. But of course the characters in these stories were mainly notable for having once been in the same room as Luke Skywalker, and the required connection was still there. >It did not really "expand" anythingNot much, no, but Tales of the Bounty Hunters described Boba crawling out of the Sarlacc Pit, which I think was the first time his survival had been established. This had to be done to "expand" on Boba Fett, as back then, before the prequels, George had drawn a line and made the period before ANH off-limits to EU writers. But we did get the Knights of the Old Republic comics, which I did not like owing to their hideous artwork, but which did constitute a significant expansion of the setting, and provided the basis for two popular RPG games (which ignored the garish art of the comic and opted for a familiar Star Wars look).

They're told they're on and from Kamino, but are off (and retarded) to actual slow growth legacy Clones. Their armor was downgraded as well for production costs savings.

>>215534750Yeah I thought maybe you were just looking at the "canon" section, but there is weirdly little info on both pages, even though I feel like they talk about plastoid all the time in games and stuff
