Watched Director's Cut last night. It was bretty good until they got to the hotel. Then recast Jack Nicholson ruins everything and it feels real cheap. 6/10
>>
The really didn't need the hotel part at all. Was really enjoying it up until then. I deserve a Rebecca Ferguson wife.

The movie was sleepworthy until the hotel, even though the hotel segment was nothing but cheap memberberries. Still gets 0 points because the hotel doesn't call the little black girl a nigger despite precedence.
>>
>>215522528
Really, I thought the recast of Jack was pretty good. Took me a minute to figure out it was the kid from E.T.
>>
>>215522698
Mind blown.
>>
The theatrical is way better than the directors cut
>>
>>215522640
the whole idea was memberberries. Did this really need to be a Shinning sequel other than Stephen wanting to reclaim his story
>>
>>215522754
I can only watch the Director's Cut because I don't have a 4K player or TV.
>>
>>215522528
Doc-doc-doctor Beat (ow!)
>>
>>215522764
He still seethes, he still copes.
>>
>>215522764
I never watched this slop, it was weird seeing Kubrick's set pieces in clips and trailers since King feuded and seethed about the Kubrick's Shining. King had his own tantrum made-for-tv true-to-the-source-material (slop) he could have written a sequel to. Just comes across as King's resignation to the argument on whose version was better
>>
>Director's Cut
What’s the difference? More hat mommy scenes?
>>
>>215523284
There is 25 minutes extra footage. I think most of it is Danny dealing with sobriety.
>>
>>215523465
More True Knot scenes, some more Abra origin stuff, some extra gore, and a longer conversation between Lloyd and Danny.
>>
Was the hat chick a good guy or a bad guy?
>>
>>215523853
Bad un.
>>
Pedo cant cope kubrick ran circles around him
>>
>>215522528
It had 10 Cloverfield Lane syndrome

First 2 acts are compelling, original stories. Then they cram in some boring bullshit at the end because the movies need to justify their sequel status.

Just let it be a marketing gimmick you fucks. You don't need to actually ruin the movie after. A Quiet Place 3 handled it much better.

>>215523853
She was just a guy. A guy who needed kid fear juice.
>>
>>215522851
I get the impression that he's overcome a lot of the weird insecurity in his later years. Eventually you learn that you don't have to be the best at everything. Kubrick was very clear about the value he saw in King when it came to narrative beats and workable premises.

>Kubrick was very clear about the value he saw in King when it came to narrative beats and workable premises.
Kubrick thought he was a talentless hack. Which he is. Never post again.
>>
>>215524022
Think it's more him changing his focus to politics. Seething at Trump and Desantis.
>>
>>215524063
>Two acual literal nazis try to turn your country into a facist state
>resist them publicly
>lol lmao he's seething xdddd
Any reasonable person is upset about this you fucking nazi
>>
>>215524063
>King seething at Desantis
I thought King sucked Maine's dick so hard he never stepped foot out of the state? Or is that leftist a piece of shit snow bird as well?
>>
>>215524059
Midwit take. You'll get over the insecurity, too, anon.
>>
>>215524075
>>215524142
Calm down Stephen.
>>
i found it deeply satisfying that all of the members of the true knot die screaming
>>
Too bad Ewan McGregor and Rebecca Ferguson only had one short scene together. Her character becomes instantly infatuated with him and it was kino.
>>
>>215524075
Only another three years Steve.
>>
>>215524102
He spends a lot of time in Florida. His later short stories are often set in the Sunshine state. The coping in some of them is hilarious.
>>
>>215522528
I actually thought that scene was wonderful. Not as good as the Nicholson scene by any measure, but still worth a watch. The 'first the man takes a drink, then the drink takes a drink, then the drink takes the man' bit was something I hadn't heard before, I felt it was very poignant.
>>
>>215522528
I'd rather have them recast the character than do some uncanny valley cgi shit
But yeah that whole part shouldn't have been in the movie at all
>>
>>215524542
>he actually reads kingslop
big yikes
>>
flanagan fucked up by wanting to tie his movie to kubrick's, so he had to rewrite the entire third act because in the novels the overlook doesn't exist anymore, since it blew up at the end of the first book. also not making danny and abra related was a goof.
>>
>>215522528
Sex with Rose the Hat
>>
King is like Lucas. Only good once you tard-wrangle his shit and have people hone in the scope and focus of the story with their own perspective and creativity.
>>
>>215522528
In bong this still has yet to be on free TV. Last week was the first time IT: Part One was on (but not two).

>Then recast Jack Nicholson
why are kubrik cultists so painfully autistic about The Shining specifically? King himself has said it's a bad adaptation that completely missed the point of Jacks character and the cultists crucify him for it as though he doesn't know his own story and characters. There was then a more authentic TV movie adaption made and the cultists crucify that as though it's heresy for The Shining to ever be remade again. now here is one bitching and moaning that a fat retired chili aficionado wasn't overpaid for a borderline cameo appearance. why?
>>
Henry Thomas was the best part of this snoozer.
>>
>>215524989
Jack Nicholson is better than anything King has done.
>>
>>215524489
>>215524790
only time I would have been okay with a reverse rape scene in a movie, her getting on top of him and fingerfucking his wound to succ his steam was already pretty much one
>>
>>215522754
wrong.
directors cut is better. the film is less boring and makes more sense with the extra scenes.
theatrical cut was boring as shit
>>
The baseball kid's death scene is one of the most disturbing scenes in any horror film IMO
>>
>>215524022
He didn't overcome it, he just used this movie to graft his original Shining ending onto the whole thing.
>>
>>215524989
go to bed Stephen
>>
Why wasn't the dude in the bear suit and the guy he was sucking off in the movie?
