Nobody in 2006 is going to want to recant their pollutive ways if Gore tells us "Sea levels will rise until Florida is underwater by 2075", but if he says it'll be underwater in a decade, that's real shit. The movie gave new awareness to the issues of climate change, and made the public more conscious of climate goals and emissions reductions. We don't get the sweeping changes to American automobile requirements without this movie. We don't get electric cars or wide solar grid adoption. We don't have most leading nations decide to go all in on reducing harm to the atmosphere. In that sense, the movie woke us up and probably helped to delay it's outcomes even further, because we decided we weren't just going to go on polluting the same way we were.
