this show drops off a fucking cliff after S2. I mean, I wouldn't call the first two seasons great either, but they were perfectly serviceable.S1-2>Nucky Thompson is a shrewd political operator who keeps himself as far away from the actual crime as possible, to the point that his impersonal attitude turns his closest allies against him by S2. His strength is knowing people and making deals, every time he steps out of his comfort zone or gets ambushed, he has to be saved by someone else. Him performing an execution personally at the end of S2 is a big, dramatic moment.S3>in the first episode, Nucky personally interrogates some lowlife thief for no reason. He continues to get himself involved in his crew's affairs for no reason even though he's in the middle of an investigation that could ruin him. By the end of the season, he's running around fighting and shooting people left and right, which looks ridiculous as he's played by Steve BuscemiS1-2>plot is driven by a somewhat complex web of conflicting interests, loyalties and ambitions. Over the course of both seasons, allies become enemies, then allies again, etc, in a manner that feels like a series of natural developmentsS3>the main antagonist is just a deranged cartoon villain, characters constantly do stupid, illogical things for the sake of forced drama that gets resolved almost immediately with no consequences, begging the question why the writers felt the need to waste my timeI guess what I'm asking is, does it get any better or should I just stop watching this tripe?
