Was I supposed to be rooting for DeNiro and his crew? Because while I enjoyed seeing how they planned and executed their heists, I was team Pacino all the way through. Especially when the gang killed innocents and used kids as human shields in the bank shootout.

No.
>>
he had to get it on
>>
>>215523599
you can root for either the robbers or the cops, it's a free country, brother.
>>
You don't need to root for anyone, it's not a team sport, it's a stylized portrayal of criminal activity (bank robbers and police).

Team Waingro bby
>>

>Especially when the gang killed innocents
They did that from the get-go even if Waingrow forced their hand. They're not good guys, you don't have to root for them and it's not expected that you do.
>>
>>215523599
Why do you think you have to root for anybody in the first place? What's next? Are you going to ask what was the moral lesson there?

there's gotta be some legit Waingo fans out there.
I want to know why...

I just think that Al Pacino should have turned to the camera at the end and told me how to feel.
>>
It’s pretty clear that De Niro squad is suppose to be Hamas and Pacino is supposed to be Israel

>Especially when the gang used kids as human shields in the bank shootout.
It was only a desperate attempt to minimize risk while bullets were flying past him by the dozen. You can say Sizemore grabbing the kid is only a problem if the police can't shoot precisely.

dubs get
>>
>>215524077
Actually it makes the kid less likely to be shot by police
He saved the kid
>>
>>215524077
Exactly. The criminals weren't even "robbing a bank" until the police showed up. They were simply attempting to minimize the bank's amount of money. It was only a problem once the police made it a problem.

Every single time I watch this movie I'm rooting for DeNiro to keep the Camaro on the highway and not turn off to go after Waingro.

>>
>>215526601
Very overhyped, was dumbfounded when I actually got around to watching it and got to that scene.
What is it about it that's so special?
>>
>>215523599
Heat is a bad film. It's not worth 10 minutes of decent action sequences to watch bumbling DeNiro pretend to pick up a girl at a bar and cringe Pacino rolling around in the sheets naked. And when they're onscreen together it's even worse, honestly made me reevaluate whether either has ever done anything decent, Godfather included.
>>
>>215526862
movement and sound. collateral and blackhat are better shooters.
>>
why was william friedkin able to make a better michael mann movie than michael mann was?
>>
>>215526862
Same reaction here. There's a whole cult around their shooting rig on /k/ but the scene itself is just booooring.

B/c THEY WORE MATCHING SUITS. A bank heist by MEN'S SUIT CATALOG MODELING. Imagine the models coming to "life" + talking tough, or doing soap opera lines about their impossible dream to settle down into normal life.

When Pacino kept running after the guy after he took the kid hostage is what made me hate him, he knows the kid is in no danger if he just lets him go and the only way things get ugly is if he keeps chasing him.
>>
>>215524077
Rolling.

Because she's got A... BUSTED ASS!
>>
>>215527095
Ehh it's not that good and Dafoe needed more screen time. The bowlegged lead just isn't interesting.
>>
>>215528931
>he knows the kid is in no danger

How would he know that? Besides, he doesn't run after Sizemore, he ambushes him on the other side.

It's overrated like everything else Mann has made. The fact that it's the best part of the movie only means the rest sucks.
