Watched this last night. What did I think of it?
>>
probably the best movie of the year
>>
>>215525328
im not sure, i've only ever seen the cover. i guess you thought it as ok, honestly you probably took a nap midway thru. not much can hold your attention anymore. its all the same after a while
>>
It was honestly really good. Lots of open questions, but I was engaged the whole movie.
Good job anon, good thread that no one will reply to unfortunately

Too many unnecessary story chapters. The teacher banging the cop and the crackhead didnt need to be in there. Just the teacher, Josh Brolin, the aunt and the family in the house.
>>
I marathon'd the first 40 or so minutes yesterday. Gonna watch another half hour or so today if I find the time. So far I like it. The mystery is interesting.
>>
>>215525367
Yea I felt the same way. I really don't care for the story structure beecause honestly it was just too much down time when it could have switche characters without all the fluff.

You thought it was a decent movie that perhaps could have toned down some of the comedy but was ultimately a let down from the tone the trailers implied.
>>
>>215525367
The best stuff was the cop and the crackhead though.
It was like a modern WKUK sketch.

Zach Cregger's second best movie

good movie, happy pedro pascal dropped out to do that shitty fantastic 4 movie and they went for josh brolin.
>>
>>215525328
it was retarded shit

Oh damn I didnt know this. Yeah Brolin was great. I liked his character.
>>
>>215525367
no, they needed to show the fat gook run to the gas station even though we already saw him get there by running
>>
>>215525328
>Dattebayo!
Kek
>>
>>215525328
It sucked major ass, can't even remember the plot because it was so fucking stupid, they show you all this side stories / chapters that in the end amount to absolutely nothing, a bunch of main plot points and imagery never get explained. There were a few cool scenes but that's it, just a retarded movie.
>>
where did the kids go/do when detectives showed up and how come nobody ever saw them?
>>
>>215527040
She made them leave the house but yeah I don't see how nobody's ring camera picked them up running through the neighborhood. It seemed like it started as a school shooting analogy and they just dropped it all for a spooky witch.

The praise this film received is still bizarre to me. It was just boring, usually I feel like I'm fairly accepting of when something didn't work for and I can see why it may have for others, but I don't see how this movie was supposed to be creepy or fun, aside from maybe the cop/junkie sequence. It was just thoroughly mediocre throughout until the villain was introduced and it began to be just bad.
>>
>cop goes missing
>no one checks up him
>neighbors don't question the squad car parked there
>>
>>215525328
It's got the vibes of someone who likes early PTA movies but also wants them to be even more nonsensical and open ended. It's good but pretty silly
>>
>>215527081
right but they don't do anything unless given a directive.
I thought that was going to be the purpose of the crack head. He would see the kids in the forest maybe doing something weird or creepy where his crack head tent camp is and people wouldn't take it seriously or write it off as being a druggy or wanting money.
>>
>>215525328
As far as movies go, it has an interesting premise was horribly executed. Should get your money back tier.
>>
The fuck was the point of the giant ar-15 in the sky
Seems hamfisted as hell
>>
>>215527385
I forgot about that part and you're right.

>What did I think of it?
You thought: the more the screenwriter explain, the less spoopy it get.
>>
I love how a movie this simple and straightforward can still filter so many people.
This is why movies need to be generic, simple and stupid. You go just a centimeter outside of the bogstandard usual THE REAL MONSTER WAS TRAUMA/LE GORE AND CHAINSAWS and people are just confused and angry about it.

>I love how a movie this simple and straightforward can still filter so many people.
Nobody was "filtered". Everything was explained, which is boring and why it's not a great movie. "Longlegs" was way more challenging and rewarding.
>>
>>215527614
If you found this outstandingly entertaining movie boring, you got filtered.
I don't give a shit that you liked a different movie, it has nothing to do with this one.
>>
>>215527735
Bait or actually retarded? We may never know.
>>
>>215527385
I'm convinced the story was initially supposed to be more ambiguous and allegorical and that they hamfisted the witch story into it for whatever reason.
The movie starts of like the zodiac and ends up being a weird cheap teenage horror flick that feels completely out of place.
What a waste of a good premise

It was supposed to be more like the zodiac movie, the first half makes it clear.
In contrast the witch part feels extremely out of place
>>
>>215525328
Pretty solid. Good but not fantastic.

What I want to know is where they got all those midget stuntmen.
>>
>>215529155
There’s a lot of then around now since they can’t be actors anymore.
