Are these films worth watching? I loved Scream
>>215526273Just watch the first four. The rest are pretty bad. You can watch the remake though, that was bretty good.
finally watched the third one (nobody told me the hockey mask wasnt a thing until that one), now that I've seen 3 of them I can safely say it is one of the weakest slasher franchises out there especially with its iconic status, its not scary, it has decent kills but really nothing special, Halloween is the much better movie (original). Also burlap sack Jason was better than hockey mask jason, just my opinion it looked more disturbing. Texas Chainsaw Massacre is another better one. Nightmare on Elm St isn't that great either but the novelty of the nightmare effects makes it more worthwhile but I guess if you just wanna see some tits and watch high schoolers get killed thats what Friday the 13th offers
what is the essential slasherkino explicitly for watching women suffer? are the older movies as good for it as they say? I loved that girl getting roasted in a hung sleeping bag in the remake, so creative
F13 defies all film convention by reaching its peak at parts 4-6.
Watch the original Paramount run. The New Line Jason movies are more like elective viewings.
>>215526342I hope you mean parts 4 and 6. Part 5 is an awful piece of shit that should be watched by no one.
i have my own appreciation for each (except 8) but i see the best in a lot of things, you probably won't like a lot of them but if you want something stupid that looks like an fmv game watch Jason X.
>>215526313I did the same this October but to the fourth. Definitely do the next one. It's a tonal shift from 3, and a bit more of what I think people remember when they think of Jason and the franchise. He's strong, he's aggressive, and he's pissed. There's so much more energy and force to the slashing. Altogether, I found 3 to be the worst. There's too much nonsense to i - a tense moment scene every 2 minutes, Jason teleporting around senselessly, and always just entering the barn every single time someone looks at the barn, despite having no reason to be running in and out of it so much. My favorite remains the first. Everyone knows the franchise is all about Jason, so Mrs. Voorhees was an unexpected twist that suddenly made all the kindly smiles and welcoming reactions to the killer make sense. I liked the camp rebuilding scenes, and it had my favorite tense moments (hitcher realizing her ride may be a trap, and the girl in the toilets after the door opens). I liked F13 more than Nightmare on Elm Street, but I like Poltergeist 1 (but not 2 or 3) the most this month. Spielberg does the best horror.
